Oh and every once in a while it will kick back and almost break your ankle, the last bike I had that kick back like that was an old 1986 yz490. Had a devistating kick back.

if its kicking back it must be firing, and out of time too!

check the pick up and everything again. are you sure its at plus 4 and not something ridiculous higher? it doesnt have a timing key installed as well or something stupid like that?

It must be the raptor plastics..

Haha that was my very first thought!!!

Hopefully it is the CDI, just curious if you're getting fuel to the cylinders, are the plugs wet with fuel after kicking it over? You've tried both choke on & off? Nothing obstructing the airway and air filter clean? Mine's never kicked me back, 4stroker might be onto something there...

If it is kicking back and it's not an exotic engine, then you for sure have a timing problem. Are you sure the woodruff key between the crank and flywheel is installed and not allowing the flywheel to slip and automatically adjust your base timing? :geek:

Sounds like your covered most everything. It must be the raptor plastics.. lol.. Had to throw that in there. So have you inspected the wiring harness? Any burns or breaks? Did you put the new reeds in before or after it died? Possible broken reed? Usually they will start with a broken reed but barely run. Check and clean all electrical connections. Good luck with that, if you figure it out let us know what it was!

lol, you beat me to it. my man, the most reliable cdi is a stocker. they are proven. trim the plug wires back a lil, put the caps back on and put a stock cdi on. like crewcab said if that don t work it`s the craptor plastics. besides not running right, you should have to do a year in jail for running them plastics.

I have checked the timing, the timing is at +4, the pick up gap is at.20, have new plug wires and boots,

Can the fly wheel go bad? loose some magnatism or something? Getting fuel! I am going to pull the wiring harness tomarrow and inspect it again and ohm it. I really appreciate the comments and advise, Thanks guys!

Oh and about the raptor plastic I just didn't want to look like every other Shee at the dunes. At a distance everyone thinks a four stroke til I fire her up then they all have to come by to see what it is, and when it was running it was great to smoke the real Raptors, You all know what I mean!! Nothing like the power band of a banshee.

flywheels do go bad. take it off and shake it. if you hear a rattle it could be the flywheel.i have had them work while rattling.

When you checked the timing, did actually pull the flywheel off? The key could be sheared, or key way screwed up. I have a flywheel with the key way wollered(sp?) out, but you can't tell by looking. It will get out of time, then you can loosen, and re tighten the flywheel slowly and put it back in time. I kicked the crap out, and it would only occasionally kick back and backfire when out of time.

Replaced the flywheel and all is good.

My money is all on the gap on the pick-up.........had the same problem as you and that all what it was.......Re-Adjust it and make sure it does slip when re-tighten ...and did you check for air leaks on the choke, that O-ring does wear out..

Any sugestions on where to get another o-ring for it? ( the choke, mine is a bit wore)
