  1. Hell yeah Formulaspeed the Twister cylinders look mean, on top of it they are billet cylinders can you imagine how good theyd look once polished, can you say absolute mirror finish!!!! Someday they shall be mine...
  2. You will run into the same problems with aftermarket cylinders if they are set up,ported for a stock stroke. You would probably still be able to turn it into a 4mm stroker if the port job aint too wild to begin with but a 7mm most probably not.
  3. Powervalves allow you to run a "wild" port job and still retain some ridability, now best bang for your $$$, if you mean hp/dollars with a 4mm crank the stock cylinders set up is the best bang for your $$$.Let me add this though once you have tried those aftermarket cylinders there is no going back...
  4. I know it has nothing to do with the subject but are there any online gamers here? I still play Quake2 online once in a while, just checking...
  5. Both top ends are around 2000$$ +- 200$$ depending on who/where you buy them from.
  6. Yes Justin this is exactly what i am saying. For recreationnal riding i still beleive the Cheetahs are the way to go even if you cant bore them out,Nikasil is very durable in fact the rings will wear out before the plating.Todays sleds are all running somekind of plated cylinders weither its Nikasil, chrome etc. because it does improve engine reliability and in alot of cases when your engine blows up all you got to do is slap in a new set of pistons and go.I have seen sleds go for 10000 miles before having to refresh the top end...Of course sometimes shit happens and the plating gets damaged, having them replated will cost more $$$ than a simple bore job and in most cases will take longer to get done. This is why drag racers not all of but alot of them will prefer dealing with regular sleeves, blow the engine up,take the cylinders to the shop, bore them, slap in a new set of pistons and you are ready to go for the next day races...With the Cheetahs you damage the plating, you are out at least a week sometimes more,it depends on where you live who you deal with etc. No matter how you compare the two set ups weither it is sleeved vs plated cylinders,4 transfer ports vs 6 or billet head with interchangeable domes vs cast head the T-REX cylinders will have to be ported to run with the Cheetahs. Is the T-REX set up better once you have blown your engine up,some will say yes while others will say no, in the end its a matter of preferences. They are both aftermarket powervalved cylinders.
  7. Guess ill have to kick your balls then...
  8. Lol...Sounds right to me,in 4 years my Shee has let down only once and it was my own fault got a bit carried away with jetting at the time.
  9. And your point is?
  10. Would you care to tell us why???? Because i ran both set ups and still do and i cant find one single reason why one would be more happy with one set up over the other... Remember Josh you are only going with hear say...
  11. Actually yes the T-REX can be bored like stock cylinders and they are the "sleeve type" using steel sleeves while the Cheetahs are nikasil plated therefore cant be bored without being replated afterwards. Some shops swear by the Cheetah set up while others will only work with T-REX,Superior Sleeves,Twister cylinders etc. cylinders, it is only a matter of preferences since none of those set ups have proven to be a clear winner over the others so far... The ports you are referring to are the transfer ports,Cheetah cylinders have 6 while T-REX cylinders have 4. For your type of riding the "bigger bang for the buck" is without a dought the Cheetah set up, the other cylinders will have to be ported just to match what the Cheetahs will give you powerwise right out of the box.Now if you were building a drag race only bike things could be different, the brand of cylinders wouldnt matter as much as who would set them up.
  12. FMF used to advertise T-REX cylinders as their own and maybe they still do im not too sure... Forget about the Paul Turner pipes, you would choke this engine to death with these pipes and most probably have overheating problems.Take it for what its worth but if you are planning on building an engine with close to 500CCs, run at least a 7mm stroker crank.
  13. Look in the Image section Kotin.
  14. Ok I feel much better now!!!!
  15. Holy shit!!!!!!!!!!! And all this time i thought the HQ was a safe place to hang out...Boy was i wrong!!!!
  16. All the monoblocks you listed will run extremely hard if set up correctly, the question you should ask yourself is who do you want to work on your engine? Pick a builder and go with the set up he recommends...I know it sounds lame but its the best way to go.You will also have to run at least a 7mm stroker crank if you want the engine to reach 500cc but you probably already knew that.
  17. I recommended Packard because he's the only one i ever heard making these LA Sleeve or ProX top ends run as hard as the T-REXs, Cheetahs etc. engines...
  18. 35000 rpm!!! I guess as long as you keep the fire extinguisher close you should be allright... My die grinder spins at 27000 rpm and will destroy any mini buffs or felt bobs in a few secs, spins way too fast i can only use it with sanding rolls and lotsa grease.I have found out that no buffs or bobs will last if spun over 20000rpm and even then you will smoke them rather quickly. On top of it too many RPMs will cause overheating and you will never get the finish you are looking for.
  19. got1banshee there are thousands of shops in the US that will polish your cover, just pick up the phone book...
  20. Mr.Giggles it is a totally awsome ride you got there.
  21. Ya i have seen some of those spots on clutch covers, throttle covers etc. havent seen any of them on cylinders yet.
  22. Dont worry about it, if you want to polish your cylinders go ahead.People are running polished jugs in Glamis so if it doesnt cause them to overheat we should be safe.
  23. Very true but its close.
  24. No one is fighting...We are just having a discussion nothing more nothing less. I dont mind an animated discussion...Stirring things up once in a while is good for your health.
  25. Yes a friend of mine used to own one, took it for a spin a couple of times alot of fun to ride. Yup i agree but with 80hp, a stock or even worst a -lenght swing-arm and MX tires you never will never be able to get your Shee to take off like it is capable of and exploit the full potential of your engine. I dont think you have any idea how fast a "correctly" set up 80hp Banshee can be even in a short race...
