If we quit giving trillions to countries for "hush" money to keep the from fighting, to feed them even though they hate us for no apparent reason, reformed our own welfare system so that it worked more than .0004% of the time (my older sister is the only one I've met that never abused the system. 2 years on it after a divorce, then she was on her own after that. Now she makes 3 times what I do) we wouldn't have to pay quite so much in taxes, and that would only improve the economy. I know when I have money to spend, that shit gets spent. But, those of us that wish to invest, actually could. That would only help the economy as well. The people I blame for the shit that plagues us are the people that "care" more about someone elses feelings, than the situation at hand. Don't want to offend anyone, because apparently telling someone to "eat shit, get your own," is offensive, and therefore....I dunno....maybe its illegal. You should see the looks I get when someone puts the bum on me on the way into a store and I ignore them. Apparently I owe them something, and I didn't fullfill my end of the deal. Yeah, I think it might be illegal to offend someone by denying them what they haven't earned.

Sorry to hear about your 510rwhp drag car being trashed. I have a customer with a 600bhp drag car that he's got quite a bit in, and its sad to see someones hobby get trashed.... On the banshee, I'd say tear down the engine, scrape the shit out of it, replace the bearings and seals. Just go for a total rebuild on the engine to be safe.

Be sure when you are tapping your bearings out that you use a brass drift. This way if you happen to bang into the bearing pocket (not reccommended) it won't fuck it up too bad. Get in there with a steel drift and you'll be there a while cleaning it up to get your bearings back in.

I'd like to elaborate on "normal mild steel", and amend it to SOFT mild steel. You might want to have that welder also put some gussets in there, box it in, whatever so that it won't break/bend again. When I say soft, I don't mean like butter, but its not going to be the same grade as a 1018 you can get from a steel supplier. At least not what I've found. Some of that shit looks like it wasn't tubing to begin with. It looks like sheet thats been stamped or formed in some places to resemble tubing. Threw some calipers on it, and it isn't round thats for sure.

I saw a thing on tv the other night when my wife was in charge of the remote. Some...whatever it was on the tv... They were talking about this very thing! They showed a skit from SNL it looked like... Making fun of "MOM JEANS". I know what you mean about being busy. When I started my project bike in februrary of this year I planned on riding it this summer. Shit...now I have 2 bikes torn apart and nothing to ride. The only reason the other one is tore up, was to measure a few things. Haven't had time to put it back together. One guy came into my shop and asked me if they ever run, or if I just work on them all the time....

The oring might need replacing. On mine I noticed some side to side, and when I pulled it apart it was obvious I needed new orings. The clamp block is a few thousandths bigger than the steering stem, and the o-rings tighten that up. Put some new orings in your block, and put some grease on the inside of that bushing block as well when you assemble it. If its worn on the steering stem, you might be able to get away using SAE rather than metric sized o-rings. The steering stem is 32mm OD tubing. That puts it at 1.259" dia. You should be able to go buy a 1.250 dia oring that is a little thicker than stock, split it, and put it back in. Might even be able to find the oring at Lowes. Just take in your old o-ring so you can get the thickness and size correct. The people there can barely function as it is. Don't want to go asking them questions n shit.
