  1. You might have air leaking in at the reed block. Make sure the gaskets are good and everything is clean and tight. I had the same problem because I tightened the screws hand tight and forgot to torque them down to spec.
  2. I just had the same thing and it was the float valve. From what I've read they need to be replaced every 5 years or so.
  3. I've always thought it was odd that nobody makes a FWW for the Banshee to smooth out the hit. I'd buy one.
  4. Florence, Winchester and Coos Bay are all awesome in my book. Hit all three if you have time. I'll be going down just for the day in the next few weeks.
  5. I haven't been to the dunes much in the last few years but used to go a lot and plan to start going again. I see spark arrestors are now required and my bike has been running non-SA silencers in the dunes since '97. I'll probably end up getting some FMF Turbine Cores eventually, just wondering if this is something the park rangers are enforcing.
  6. Not sure about race gas, but I get rid of 91 octane premix by dumping it in my truck a gallon or two per full tank.
  7. My stock impeller failed a couple years ago, bits of plastic broke off. The Yami dealer said they break all the time. Replaced it with a PD billet and the bike seems to not puke coolant out the overflow as much as before.
  8. Could be the carbs are out of sync.
  9. Works did a heart transplant on mine (kept the stock spring since I'm 170lbs). I know they get mixed reviews on here but I'm very happy with their service and work. I ride dunes only, mostly fast trails.
  10. Could also be bad reeds. Mine had a similar problem. Checked comp, electrical, air leaks, jets, cleaned carbs several times. Reeds looked OK (no chips or cracks) except they were not laying flat against the cage. Turned them around, still probs. Finally said fuggit and replaced them, bike now starts right up cold and runs like a champ.
  11. If I don't think I'll be riding for more than a month I drain the tank and carbs, then dump it in my truck a gallon or two per tank until its gone.
  12. I've done it with my 5x8. Its a tight squeeze but works.
  13. Renthal ATV bend here, dunes only.
  14. I'll be there the weekend before, have fun!
  15. +1, your impeller gear is busted. You might also want to replace the impeller with a high volume billet one, your bike will run cooler with it.
  16. My friends are staying at Honeyman in Florence Feb 4-7 (thursday-sunday). I'll be there friday and/or saturday.
  17. I've ridden Raptor 700's in the dunes, still like my Banshee way better.
  18. Sorry I meant melted plastic from the plastic gear.
  19. Could be melted plastic from the gear inside the bearings, thats what happened to mine. I also HIGHLY recommend a high flow billet impeller. Your bike will run cooler and last longer.
  20. Probably still good. I was told by Maxima support that their 2 stroke oil (Super M) is good for 10+ years, so Klotz is most likely too.
  21. February is fine, go for it. If we are having a BHQ get together I might be in too. btw- rain with light wind is not a big deal IMO. Rain and the wind howling is what really sucks.
  22. Wish I would have heard of this a few months ago when my gear broke and I couldn't find an aftermarket replacement.
  23. I've been here since before '02 but don't post much. I do however use the search function A LOT whenever I have a technical question and its helped so many times I lost count.
  24. I just installed a PD impeller and it def made an improvement. Highly recommend one.
  25. I have Boyesen Pro Series reeds and was chasing a cold start problem for a long time. Inspected the reeds a few times... they were in fairly good shape, not cracked but it looked liked they weren't sealing very well. Flipped them around a couple times, still having the same problem. Finally said fugget and bought new reeds (same ones). Bike is starting and running great now. I'm not 100% sure it was bad reeds but sure seems like it.
