Man this site fuggin ROCKS! I'm in the middle of disassembling my carbs and couldn't figure out how to pull the float pins. The factory service manual is no help of course. So I'm thinking "I wonder if there is anything on bansheehq?" so I come on here, search 'float pin', and BAM! here it is.

Thanks for the replies, I'm pulling and cleaning the carbs tonight. And the parking brake has been removed.

When I get back from a ride and know that I'm not riding again for a few months, I completely drain the carbs and tank (and burn up the remaining gas in my truck). The night before its time to ride again, I fill the tank with fresh premix and she fires right up and runs fine. The next day I have a BITCH of a time getting it started. What I do is turn the throttle wide open several times, full choke, close throttle, kick it a few times and it will start at a low rpm for a few seconds then die. It won't start at all with the throttle wide open. When it starts I give it a little throttle but it'll die. Repeat process for like a half hour and she'll finally start with enough rpm's that I can work the throttle and she runs fine the rest of the day. Seems to be starved for fuel because after turning the throttle many, many times it never floods and I rarely smell gas. It has new spark plugs. Any ideas?

I have a bullet cam from www.helmetcamera.com and a mini dv camcorder in a fanny pack. Here is a sport bike track day vid from last week: clicky I don't have any Banshee vids yet but will next month.

No Heel Guards, Who Doesn't Run Em

Mine were getting a little rusty in the cracks so I took them off. Haven't had any probs, I learned my lesson with putting a foot down on 3 wheelers. -
How much time are you getting on a tank
HiRoller replied to mlarkin_09's topic in General Banshee Discussion
You must have a leak or the jetting is WAY off. I have a stock motor with the usual bolt-ons (pipes, cool head, reeds, K&N, air box lid removed) and a tank lasts me 3-4 hours in the dunes. There was a time when I was messing with the jets for the mods that I got horrible gas mileage, but when you get it dialed the gas mileage turns pretty good again. -
My buddy had a mint ATC250R. Stock vs stock Banshee will win but it might be close. Both bikes with the standard bolt-on mods, the Banshee will kill it.

I was there yesterday and would have looked you up if I'd have known ahead of time, oh well. The dunes were EPIC!!! It felt so awesome to get out and ride again on a beautiful day with my buds after months of sh!tty weather.

Where ya ridin? Anywhere other than sand dunes I'd get the 450. In the dunes it'd be a close call picking between the Banshee, YFZ450, or Rappy 700. I've had my Banshee for 10 years and its been such a great bike that I'll never get rid of it.

I have the stock replacement stator, works fine.

twist throttle and tors what the fuck
HiRoller replied to 99 banshee beast's topic in Banshee Repairs and Mods
I have the Motion Pro kit and would recommend it and you also need the idle kit. Not sure if there are different models relating to the tors, on my MP kit you toss it. -
has anyone raced a CRF450R or a YZ450F

D'oh! double post :ermm: -

HiRoller replied to sled's topic in General Banshee Discussion
That was just an estimate, I'm figuring a typical Banshee with a few bolt-ons at 45hp and 412 lbs vs. dirt bike at 45hp and 225 lbs. -

The power to weight ratio advantage that a 250 2 stroke or 450F dirt bike has over a quad is almost 2:1. A quad would need 90+ hp to even be in the ball park. I used to take my CR250 to the dunes all the time and raced everything that moved. The quad will get the jump off the line but as soon as the bike starts to hook up its all over. -
I don't think those are the screws the guys were talking about. Stand on the left side of your bike and look at your carbs. Right next to the drain hose is a phillips screw, one for each carb. If that screw is loose then gas will leak out of the hose. Make sure they are tight and if you feel any grit then clean them out. Good luck!

Dirt tires will work if ya ain't got nothing else but sand tires are well worth the $$$, especially if you do any tight technical riding. I prefer Dune Trackers over Mohawks.

Pro Flow base plate, K&N filter, Outerwears, toss the air box lid, and rejet if necessary.

Up until last year almost all of my dune buddies had 350X's and 250R 3 wheelers. They finally switched over to quads. First time I went riding in the dunes it was on a 200X I saw all the Banshees tearing it up and said "I want one of those!"

My best friend has 2 700 Raptors, an '06 AE and a brand new SE w/ upgraded shocks. We ride dunes only and the Raptors are sweet bikes for sure but I still like my Banshee. We didn't drag race but I'm gonna say my Banshee w/ pipes, cool head, K&N and airbox removed would win by a narrow margin. The one area where the Raptor absolutely kills the Banshee is suspension. I like to hammer through the whooped out roads and the Raptor is like going on a magic carpet ride while the Banshee is bucking like a bronco. My biggest complaint about the Raptor is the seat height. Stock vs. stock I'd say Raptor. Add the usual bolt ons to Banshee and upgrade the shocks (which is my next project) then I'd say Banshee for sure.

Sand Lake is closer than Florence or Winchester but still a 2+ hour drive from Astoria I'm guessing. Its an OK place if you've never been there before. Kinda small area and its usually tore up pretty bad.

Got my bike up and running so I'll be there
-
Well, if I can get my bike running in time I'll be there the 4th and 5th. My name is Roland and I have a '97 red/black Banshee w/ FMF stickers on the tank. I'll be staying at the campground with my friends and they have a big ass yellow F350 crew cab 4x4 and 5th wheel. Hope to see y'all there!

One of my best friends has that exact bike, he's owned it for 12+ years and its been pretty reliable. I've ridden it a few times and its a big heavy bike compared to a modern 600. If you're trying to save gas it'll prolly only get ~30 mpg.

Welcome to Portland FireHead! I live on the hill overlooking Swan Island, let me know if you need any help with anything. There are DMV's and DEQ stations in N and NE Portland. My friends are going to the Florence dunes April 20-22, staying at Honeyman Park. I'm gonna try and make it down for 1 of those days.
