Not even close. An 18DM in billet cases with no clutch parts, pipes or carbs will run you $6-7,000. You're looking at $9-10,000 for a turnkey motor set up.
Anything is possible with a welder, saw and some time.. Questions is, why would you want to?
There is NOTHING to gain from going from j-arm to a-arm, except a weaker front end.
