I Wondered about the possibility of black oxide the other day.

Just curious, is the advantage of billet rods in this application simply because they're beefier? Because generally speaking the process of forging creates a more durable final product, however if the only beefier rods offered are billet then it makes sense to use billet obviously.

Mine also showed signs of being pulled with a 3 jaw from a precious owner, it ran fine but rubbed on outer edge of the coil and made a lot of metal shavings. I bought a new one for my current build to be safe

They're a bitch. That's how it works. Actually they aren't that bad assuming you get into town late afternoon early evening the night before your first day on the dunes
