  1. i took the motor out of the 87 banshee my girlfriend's dad gave me, and its not lookin to good inside, the left piston can move back and forth in the cylinder.
  2. i actually found a clymer's manual that my dad had for his banshees about 10 years ago, i was pretty happy, and i dont plan on taking to a shop anymore, i'm feeling pretty confident. I've done work on other two strokes before and other quads and dirtbikes, just not specifically banshees, but i'm sure you guys will be able to answer any questions that i have.
  3. yes, he said it does have toomey pipes. Why is it necessary to remove the parking brake? i cant' wait till there's room in the barn to drag it out, so i can't get more info and pictures up
  4. alright, thank you. I'll definitely contact him soon
  5. i'm looking at parts and it seems like a 4mil stroker isn't too much more expensive, how much power would i be looking at with that? and what other things would have to be done?
  6. thank you guys for all the help, i'm a lot more confident with this than i was before. I'll be getting it on the 5th or 6th of may, and i'll be sure to post a few pictures, and i'm sure i'll have a ton more questions
  7. well alright, i'll definitely get it in the next couple weeks, what are things to look for to find out if the crank is bad before i take it apart? or should i just start pulling the motor?
  8. yeah, i'm able to do the work myself, but i'm just concerned that something in the case might be messed up, just cause he doesn't know much about it and he hasn't ran it for about 7 years, so i kind of want to take it to the local shop, and have them go through it, or is that a waste of my time?
  9. I'm new to this site, but i've been wanting a banshee for quite a while. My girlfriend's dad has an 86 shee that he told me i could have, however he said the crank is bad. Would it be worth it to get this and spend however much it would be to do a full rebuild on the engine or is it a lost cause?
