  1. I thought I was the only one to ever weld a spark arrester to my hush kit haha
  2. Yeah I'm pretty sure there's a dust cap but not positive
  3. Try an impact, they're force fit so once it starts a little it won't spin anymore.
  4. I'd do 100 for the plastic without the grill
  5. Stellar j arms are the best purchase I've made
  6. You'll probably have to order those from Yamaha or from whoever makes the axle if it isn't stock. If you have a Yamaha dealer near you they will order the parts and you don't have to pay shipping, if not id check Yamahapartshouse.com
  7. Just a couple things left now. Bleeding brakes and what not
  8. This might sound stupid. But how do you go about doing the front end alignment ? I understand how to line it up and what not, but I can't think of any easy ways of unscrewing the ball joints from the arm without taking the whole thing back apart. Any help there would be appreciated
  9. Hey those look familiar Troy. Bump for a good guy
  10. Awesome. Theres another 50 dollars then haha i guess I'll go ahead and order new brake pads then
  11. Oh boy. More issues are my favorite. I got the front suspension most of the way together except the new calipers that I got are completely different and don't appear to bolt up. Does anyone know if the style of the calipers was changed at all after 87? So then I decided to get the swing arm taken off, that went decent, until i got the tube out of the swing arm and I can't even begin to think of what could have caused this Is anyone else as amazed by this as me? And could I smooth it out with a file or should I just buy a new one?
  12. Haha everyone has said I need to get the frame powdercoated. I want to, but at this point I don't want to miss any more ride time. And I really don't wanna spend another 500 dollars, we'll just call it the rat rod for now haha
  13. Well more setbacks of course. I got new castle nuts for the tie rod ends, and not only were they $4.19 each, but they were too tall, so I had to sand them down to make them fit. Here's some pics
  14. Got the arms set in nothing is tightened or adjusted. And I need to get new castle nuts for the tie rod ends since my new ones didn't come with new nuts. But a little progress is better than none
  15. Yeah lol I thought for $5 dollars I might as well give it a shot, but I barely put any tension on it before it bent
  16. The j's are +2 +1 and I paid around 500 for them and it took about 6 weeks to get them, but it woulda been like 5 weeks had they not had an issue with powder coat. It was definitely worth the wait though these are awesome !
  17. Thanks guys, I was able to get the tie rod ends out with the puller, but i ended up just using a hammer on the ball joints. Also I posted the pics correctly right? You guys can see them without having to click the links ?
  18. well made some more progress after all, thought this would do the trick: then this happened: so then i found this at work: it seemed to work alright, not the perfect tool for the job, but none the less looks like i might need some new brake pads: here it is with everything off: here's some of the old junk: here's a real good one, if you can't tell, the ball joint popped out, so i had a washer welded over it to hold it in, seems pretty safe more parts: that's all for now, hopefully some re-assembly pics tomorrow
  19. Ok how do you guys get your ball joints out of the steering knuckle ? Im having a hell of a time
  20. Well, the wait was definitely worth it, my parts showed up yesterday from stellar and i started the dissassembly process today to start the suspension overhaul. Here's some pics of today's progress: Pic Tim sent me of my parts coming out of powdercoat Here's another peek at the parts whoops, this will be fun to fix need to get a 2 jaw puller to get these tie rod ends out stopped there for today, hopefully i'll be able to get a good deal on a 2 jaw puller so i can get this thing finished up
  21. Thanks! just ordered it. now that's customer service
  22. I just got my new stelllar swing arm and idk what kind of chain slider i need for the front of it, i assume i can just use a stock replacement one for the back like a a tm designworks but idk. does anyone have any idea?
