  1. Sounds like an air leak. Bad crank seal maybe. What side is running lean? Spray the ignition side crank seal with wd40 while it's running and if the rpms fluctuate you have a bad seal. Or do a leak down test to see if it's elsewhere
  2. Ive been reading the "what jets are you using" thread and found a few guys with 34mm PJ carbs at sea level that have pilot jets in the range of 48-52 and Im up at 58. Not sure why its up that far but when I had my older engine with a national port job the thing ran awesome. Ive got a shopping basket full of jets from jetsrus.com and Ill go from there. Keep ya posted thanks for replies

  5. I got my 4 mil stuff installed and went on a break in ride yesterday. It appeared to be lean so I ended up going with a 165 main jet and it pulls hard in the mid but on the top it cuts out. I tried a 162 and not much improvement. I messed with teh needle clip position went 2 slots up from the bottom all the way up to the top position and I couldnt get it dialed in. I may have over oiled my filter so I do need to clean and reoil that and try it but what else could I try? Ive got new plugs, new reeds, new pistons, new pingel, carbs are clean, I need to buy a variety pack of pilot jets and mess with those. It seems like it chokes up when im off idle cruising around and for the best improved excelleration I gotta rev it up and drop the clutch then it screams. Maybe Im not used to the lack of low end coming from a trail port? but something does seem out of tune

  10. Yeah, the more I think about it the more it bothers me I paid near $700 for damaged parts, and he wont fess up and give me any sort of reimbursment from the careless packaging.
  11. I bought a low hour 4 mil 110 rod crank, stock cylinders with a 4 mil dune port and wiseco 65mm pistons from Travis. First things first, Im not ranting on how bad of a seller he is I want to just let people know when purchasing this kind of high dollar parts from him to be sure to have him package it really good. I got the box in the mail and it was in rough shape, with nothing that resembled the word fragile. Everything was closely packed together in a medium sized keurig coffee box. His idea of well packaged is wrapping each individual part in saran wrap and rationally stuffing brown packaging paper in the box. The crank looked good as it was on the bottom of the box, Im just hoping the box was never dropped. The cylinders were next. The bore was nice as described but there was alot of chaff marks on the rim of the cylinder where the head/o-ring seats from bouncing around on the crank. I was able to file the burs down. Hoping I wont have to JB weld them to make a good seal with the coolhead. Next was the pistons. There were knicks and dings all over the skirts and the top edges of the piston. They are not usable. I pm'ed him asking him why he sent the parts parcel post with no insurance. it took 24 days for me to get the box. He said it was packaged well when it left his hands and had nothing else to say. I ordered new pistons from rocky mt atv ($209) and will be throwing the ones he sent in the scrap pile. Im not down grading him or anything other than the packaging. Like I said before, I just wanted to forewarn people on making sure the box is packaged well when it leaves his hands. It doesnt appear he wants to work anything out with me. Use stirefoam, bubble wrap, packing peanuts, shop rags, and ship it "priority mail" and package them as if they were coming to you to use. Future reference, compress the rings and put the pistons in each cylinder, and write FRAGILE on the box atleast. Anyway, Im stoked for the new pistons to get here and to finish my build.

  15. 4 jets bigger? just the main jet? or pilot too? I can see they make a 162 then 165, 168,170, 172. are you referring to a 165 or 4 jets up from the 162?which would be a 172?
  16. Ive got a 4 mil dune port on the cylinders I shouldnt need to change much. I was just wondering about the jetting I will just have to put it all together and see how it runs. I cleaned the carbs out yesterday and everything is on the work bench in order ready for assembly Im just waiting on a 4 mil crank and 4 mil ported cylinders I purchased from a member on here it has been close to 3 1/2 weeks and I still havent gotten it.

  18. I have 34mm PJ carbs with 162 main jets, 58 pilot and 1 1/2 turns out on the airscrew. I run 50/50 pump and av gas and ride on sea level. Im going from a stock stroke crank wiht ported cylinders to a 4 mil stroker crank and 65mm stock cylinders ported. Am I going to need to rejet or should it be in the same ballpark? Thanks in advance
