New in Texas w/ alot of ?'s
12 0 Clock P I M P replied to k_allison510's topic in General Banshee Discussion
Veyr Simple machine and very reliable once you have them tuned properly....they will start with one or two kicks and you can ride all day everyday.... Good price on it! Put the clutch in....make sure all is fine with shifting it.....CLean air filter, new plugs, fresh coolant.....good brake pads.....they are fast you wanna be able to stop! The boost bottle is not liked by many people here...it does not help with performance....you can scratch it if you want and run just the small cross pipe or if it runs good leave the bottle on there....your own preference........ The cool head has interchangable domes inside of it to boost compressions.....i am not an expert with them but its a very popular and reliable mod..... YOur back fire/sputter on one cylinder can be the result of the carbs being out of sync. They need a proper adjustment and tune...hook up with someone in your area familar with shees or have your shop do it if your unfamiliar. I dont have the specs in front of me but .20 is a fresh bore and not excessive by any means..... peel the stickers off, use plastic polish and throw on a graphics kit for pretty cheap and will make u look good!!! Good luck with it and any questions just keep them coming and search the forums.... If you need parts there are various site sponsors willing to help you out -

Is that a boost bottle in there.....hmmm -
YOu are better off taking it all apart....The only difference is a few gaskets and you will need a gasket kit anyway to rebuild....you will be better off making sure everything is out and that your crank is ok and that nothing got in your crank bearings.....and so on...... Take it all apart!

The price will vary on who/what you need done.....it could be a turn of a screw or a complete rebuild won't idle - a lot of things.......bad plugs.....idle screw out of adjustment......float stuck....it is in your carb thats for sure...especially if you can run it with hitting the gas. the accelarations depends on some things as well.......gearing.....pipes.......what pipes do you have low end is poor also depends on gearing and pipes.......some banshees only haul ass in a high rpm.....depending also on port work.... if its a 4 mil set up its going to have power up top and boogie als ocan have an aggresive port for top end power........the low end will need to be found in other ways so what pipes do you have? you need to know if its ported especially with the 4 mil......and what kind of port...some of the builders here will know a little more -

I am sure the Harbor freight set will be fine for you....Snap - ON stuff is wayy overpriced...but it is a great product.....You will rarely use the set if you don't have one now already .....just match up the die and center it properly ......and you will be back in business. -

Favorite pipes are like asking about your favorite drink around here.......everyone has a preference....most people like what they buy and are proud of them...so what they have is the best for them.....pipes will be the best bang for your buck riding the trails...... I live in NJ and have ridden at paragon adventure park in PA, and ride a lot out in PA......I go upstate NY as well very similar to PA riding..... I run Paul Turner Mid Range pipes...I was asking my self your question about two years ago.......I like the PT pipes but cannot speak for any others. they have a great low-mid power and I feel i don't loose a lot up top. I got a good deal on my mids. they are a little harder to find used though......FMF pipes are everywhere and like others said are a good pipe......you can find a nice set in our for sale section on here in the 150-200 range for some clean pipes.... Since you don't know anything about 2 stroke...you will need to JET YOUR CARBS when you install pipes.....based on what pipes you buy...post again in regards to jetting size the guys here all run different set ups and will know what direction to send you about what size jets to run. Good Luck..Have Fun...Be Safe..and Thnaks for your service.. PS I think your nuts for not liking dunes -
ha I got a low hour Hot Rods, but has bent rods haha...I have a stocker with 5 hours on it and I just up and bought new wiseco engine kit.......broken cranks are like boat anchors it seems time to work a few more hours for the 4 mil.....

Looks good Jeff....nice work!!

sounds like you need to sync your carbs!! one is getting fuel the other not so much............. take your air cleaner off cause your going be tuning and its easier with it off....make sure the slides in the carb are aligned and going up and down at the same time sounds liek one is choking one side out

good stuff

Check the compression after you ride them!!!! MAke sure your not getting shafted by them pouring oil in the top and sealing it just for your test prior to ypur arrival............Check each side I would say look for 120-130 range is fine for stock......They should be within 5 psi of each other......anymore than 10-15 difference could be an issue or time for a top end. Just make sure the Crank is not growling in need of bearings.....they are pretty simple man good luck........you will want to do a lot to the bike so get ready!!!! And WELCOME TO YOUR NEW ADDICTION
