Finally got the Modquad head w/ 18cc domes on Avgas installed and running. I didnt notice very much smoke out of the pipes at all. it may be the fuel, it may not? I have been running the new setup through my head, hoping to figure out if I need to go up, down, or stay the same, no dice. If u guys could point me in one of those directions I would appreciate it!! Shop is closed today, or I would be out experimenting!

2 should go around the domes, 2 of the biggest around the outside of each cylinder, and 2 inside where the domes sits should be the smallest one in the kit. No stock head gasket, the o-rings do it up!

first mods on a stock banshee

Addiction is a perfect word!! For my parts, its Ebay all the way, you just gotta be cautious and you'll be good. Lots of dealers that sell on there. That and the yamaha shop locally, they can get alot of stuff for not a huge amount of cash. Check the sell forums on here as well! -
Thats not a bad idea at all. For now, burnin gas bangin gears!

Filled it up today with coolant, had the stock nuts with yamabond on them, no dice. Picked up some acorn nuts and Permatex non-drying gasket making material, made to seal threaded connections. Filled it up with coolant again, works like a charm! Thanks alot for the help guys. On a side note, dont buy this head! lol Modquad really needs to take this one back to the drawing board!!

first mods on a stock banshee

The mods in my sig turned my shee a full 360 from the stock setup! And thanks to Ebay and the sell forums on here I spent about half of what all that would have cost from a dealer or new. Good Luck man, and welcome to the heroin-like addiction of the Banshee! EDIT: DO NOT buy ricky stator anything!! Bad personal experience, and most guys on here are not fans of that junk either! -
The wells the nuts sit in where pretty nasty, cleaned em up, put yamabond on the nuts and we shall see what happens today. If this fails its certainly onto the acorn nuts! thanks alot guys

Where exactly did u seal it up with silicone?

Air leak in the rubber boots? Head gasket gone haywire? Maybe fuel system a little clogged dryin up carb bowls? Sounds lean to me. The first part of your post sounds like a little detonation. Not an expert but thats my .2 cents!

Hillsboro, OR?! Right on man!! Go down there alot for the dunes and Hillsboro to visit fam! (lol just saw that u where from there!)

Ran stock airbox and filter with lid, VF3's, and T5's. Had 300 mains and 27.5 pilots, that was a tad rich. I'd say go with 320's or so, or until it gets boggy rich, then tune down one or two sizes, throw in a plug chop to be sure and you should be good to go. I like to go with the feel at the throttle along with plug chops personally. Throw it back together, take her for a spin and go from there!

That link just made my day!! thank you much kind sir! I'm in the same boat you are bansheeboyjp5. Put a modquad head on with 18cc domes. Compression tested at 160, so I am going with Avgas 100LL, as I can get away with it at that compression. It's a great alternative to 110 race gas.

lol!! my manual is still the best thing I've bought for the shee!
-
It does not have the 10 o-rings like the pro design one, just the copper washers. Talked to modquad and they said throw some silicone on the nuts then thread em on. We shall see after a little drying time!
-
Ran almost the same setup, save for the 18cc domes in my sig, and I was at 27.5 pilot, 300 main, and stock needle clip position. With that I was a tad rich. Plug chops are the key, they tell all. I would say you are pretty close with that.
-
Got fresh copper washers with the kit and put them on. But I noticed alot of junk built up where those sit. going to clean it today and try again!
-
Holy hell it never ends!! Finished installing Modquad head, all new o-rings, filled with coolant now its leaking from the studs on all 10 of them!! please offer any advice you guys got!

Clutch Lockout. Whos got this one
overrevtricky replied to SandShots's topic in Banshee Repairs and Mods
wow, that looks fast! Not to break in on the OP, but what is the purpose of these Lockouts? -
riding capital peak, shelton, summit lake and a few places out by tenino. Google earth is telling me my house if 243ft asl, my compression with 18cc domes is right under 150, up from 120 with stock head. Mods: K&N no lid, VF3's, T'5 complete system. I got the head off Bansheestang, who looks to be the guy from M&M site sponsor. Told him my whole deal before I got the head from him.

uhhh calculated octane requirements?! How might u do that? lol

Hey guys, just switched over to avgas on 18cc domes and want to know if there are any "side effects" on fuel system parts or anything else that I should watch out for? Thanks in advance.

One of my idle screws fell out lol
overrevtricky replied to MatHolland's topic in Banshee Repairs and Mods
I would buy another. they arent expensive. I wouldnt trust a standard screw because of the taper for on the one end for moving the slide up and down. just what I would do! -
EPIC FAIL

Yes! Bad shit this stuff is!! Bought the Ricky adj. plate off ebay, great price, said nothing about it being Ricky stator. Took it out of the box and what do you know, CAST ricky stator plate! 2nd ride, the threads of all things, holding the stator on somehow got shredded, backing 2 of the 3 screws out and destroying my stator. Yes, there was blue loctite on every screw under that cover!! Dont do it, buy billet! Lets just call this a hard lesson learned!
