  1. Well, I had to take the banshee to the mechanic as I was not going to have time to do this myself, he checked and says that the cluth is burned and also the "shif shaft" is broken. So we need to replace that shaft, cluth discs, stopped lever and some other bits like bolts and seals. So that explains why I had no gears and the problem with the cluth, is not that expensive to repair with OEM parts but my concern is why this happened. I got the bike second hand and have used for a couple of times with no problem at all besides a stupid issue with the PB system; suddenly on my last ride all this happened together so I am wondering what caused this and I wonder if this is related to the oil spewing from this "overflow" hose. Could it be related? what will make oil come out thu that hose? Larry´s Shee mentioned waterpump problems that could make water displace the oil, anyother ideas? this mechanic says that he has to replace this first and then check , that it can be something related to the forks but I am not familiar with that. Again any advice will be apreciated.
  2. That day was actually cold and foggy, it started spewing oil a couple of minutes after I started the bike. I was able to shift for the first 20 minutes of ride with no problem. Then I noticed the cluthch problem and stopped to check cable, when I tried to ride again I had no gears at all, the shifter was in neutral and in a dead point, no gears up or down. Thanks!
  3. The coolant is still full, oil level is mid level, it was full and with new oil. The cluth definetly smelled like burned first and then came the gear problems. I will pull the cover tomorrow and let you know. Thanks. And yes I am in Peru, lot of nice places to ride!
  4. So no ideas,I will be opening the clutch this weekend. thanks
  5. Hi guys; you hace always been very helpful so here I am again. I finished putting some mods on my stock banshee (fmf fattys, carbon reeds, k&n filter/proflow adapter and new jetting) and went for a ride on sunday. Everything was fine for the first 20 minutes, then I started to feel something weird was going on with my clutch, I stopped and noticed some oil coming from one of the top small hoses and something smelled weird, maybe of the oil hitting the hot exhaust? I tried to to ride again and It felt like it was slipping when I put 1st gear, it was difficult to make it go. I stopped and checked the cable and seemed fine, when I trying again suddenly I was not able to move the shifter at all; luckily it was stuck in Neutral so I was able to be towed back to the car. The engine runned perfec, I waited for it to cool down but nothing happened with the gears. Back in the car I noticed that there was more oil in the place where I was warming the Banshee. Any ideas on what could have happened, why there was oil coming from one of the top hoses? Maybe it threw all the oil out and something happened inside because of that?. Thannks in advance for your help.
  6. hI, do you have any aftermarket air filter and aftermarket reeds/cages? thanks
  7. thanks everybody for the help, I´ve been into mtb downhill for year and I thought that sport was expensive! guess I found another adiction I´m glad to know I was on the right direction. I will start looking for the air filter and the reeds, together with the exhaust set and the jetting will be it for a while until I get a good amount of hours in the shee. What´s a good online source of parts for our banshees? if you can suggest me some it will be higly appreciated.
  8. So; I´ve got my Banshee for a few weeks already; I bought it fully stock as 2003 but came to be a 2004/2005 (2004 according to the numbers printed in the chassis and motor and 2005 according to the Yamaha model color history web¿?). It´s my first quad and I am very happy and impressed of how it rides but as most off you I´ve come to the point where I will like to upgrade a few things without spending much or modifying too much the bike. I have seached for topics like "best upgrades for the money" or a suggestion on an order to follow when modifying a banshe but i haven´t had any luck. I will like your help to know if I´m going the right way. First I am planning on changing the pipes/exhaust first; I have bought a set of FMF Fattys (used); next step could be getting some Boyesen reeds that are not that expensive as a set of vforce reed/cages, could this be a way to go? maybe air filter instead of reeds? I´m hoping to get some power in the low-mid ranges, will this mods do the work or should I start or continue with something else? What carb jets and setting will you reccomend with the new exhaust. I live in the coast and mainly ride from sea level up to 3000ft of elevation. Temperature range is between 60 to 80 during all the year. I will like to maintain the air lid also. Thanks in advance for your help
  9. I´ll take the plastic heel guards, can you PM me the details. thanks
  10. Plus 4! lol Thanks everybody, I tried unplugging the PB cable and it worked, well first it didn´t but then I trien pressing the tip of the cable and it rev'ed up nomally. Damn I should I´va asked here on friday and not ruin my riding weekend. Anyway your help is very appreciated, I was about to order a CDI. I will post some pics of my shee and come with more questions once I get more familiar with it. I owe some beers here!
  11. Wow, lot of usefull information!, thanks again So, I will give it a try fist to the PB system and then eliminate both PB and TORS. Can anyone confirm the color of the wire to cut for a 2004 bike? I will try at the bars first to see if it is that. Also, can I run it forever with the TORS wires removed or I deffinetly will need the eliminator kit? any reference on where to buy one? I ask because I am not in the US ans it can take me sometime to bring one to South America Pondtunes: Now that you mention; I also changed that vent tube that day; I changed it for a "short valve breather" just because it look nice, I didn´t tried pulling this one out but I remember removing the complete gas tank cap while running and the problem continued. Thanks guys!
