  1. i just built a 421 serval for my friend this year. It all depends what kind of trails your riding. On tight trails.....personally there is no way I would want to ride his bike for very long. Even though its still a serval......your powerband comes on SO hard and so down low, that if your trails are real tight things, you may get in trouble. Don't get me wrong his bike is fun as hell.....and easy in mildly tight areas...but he's been riding for over 18years now and he's had the front end come up a few times already that he wasn't expecting and almost lay him off the back. So my comment would be to just get a 421 Serval (which is a 4mil) and have just the castings cleaned up (if nothing else) or get it ported....save your money from a 7mil.
  2. just because you replaced all the gaskets doesn't mean there isn't an air leak. I had to rebuild my motor this past winter and had a tough time getting the reed gaskets to seal up.....and that was using new gaskets. I wound up calling my builder and asking if he ever had problems and what his choice method of fixing it was....... Moral of the story......ALWAYS DO A DAMN LEAKDOWN TEST!!!
  3. Are the carb slides in the correct carb? If you look into the carb throat from the rear of the bike you should see a half moon style cut out on the slides. If its straight across.......they are in the wrong way. Does the left cylinder pick up and begin firing when you throttle up some or is the cylinder dead completely? I've had my right cylinder "die" at idle and pick up at 1/4 throttle.....only thing wrong was the idle on that carb wasn't turned up high enough after I cleaned my carbs........grabbed the sync tool and solved my issue.
  4. 1) Stock sprockets are 14/41......that is a damn good ratio for all around riding. Going smaller in front by 1 tooth is equal to going bigger in the back by 3 teeth. So since you have a 47 tooth...you are basically running a 12/41 style gear setup which is more aimed towards having a quick low end and no top end. 2) Sounds like the chain that came with it is meant for a stock swinger and you didn't disclose that you had a +4 swinger......Better call whoever you bought that setup from and ask them if you can return the chain and pay the difference for a chain long enough for a +4 3) We have site sponsors on the site that are super knowledgeable.....these guys eat sleep and hump banshees. If you called them, not only do they have really affordable prices......but they would have known exactly the length chain you needed. Hell....usually they send them with a few extra links so you have to trim it down to size.....
  5. nope....I didn't read that wrong johnnyboy......I was asking because 22.5 is leaner than stock. Stock jetting on the banshee's was 200 mains (sometimes dealers would change it themselves before sale) and 25 pilots are stock.
  6. bansh93..... right forum.......but now your thread jacking. problem 2 is that you bought shit off ebay.
  7. so......my question is....Johnnyboy......why in the HELL would you have gone leaner than stock on the pilots? 22.5's?!?
  8. coup meant you may have BROKEN the magnets.....not broken them off. Grab the flywheel and shake it. If it sounds like sand it's on its way out or is dead already.
  9. yea that sounds rich. trinity is like cancer for these bikes......they "have a good rep" ( ) because kids these days see expensive marketing photos and think that since the company can pay for it that they must be bringin in good money, so in turn they MUST know their stuff. Realistically Trinity is known for SHIT parts and SHIT setups on the banshee's. Don't believe me? ask around. Id sell that thing or chuck it in the can and grab up a Noss or Pro-design head in a second. Not to mention the Noss and Pro-design all use the same parts (O-rings AND domes) where as the trinity one requires their expensive domes and their expensive O-rings........which are WAY less common to get your hands on.
  10. and apparently you just say NO to looking at the ages of posts.....hahaha......nice dig, last post was in '08
  11. it depends what kind of fuel your trying to stay running. Me for instance...I am running a dune/play ported motor that is .020 over, fmf fatties, vf2 reeds, k&n pods, and 20 cc domes and I am kicking JUST shy of 150psi...... When you port a motor you are changing the timing of the intake and exhaust port openings.....it also makes the dwell time that the intake/exhaust are open longer, meaning you get more time open = less time to make compression resulting in LOWERED compression. So you have to go with smaller domes on ported motors to bring the compression back up to normal, let alone to get it higher for a little more kick in the pants. BUT running stock cylinders with 19 cc domes......you got some balls man.....either that or you ride in the clouds...as elevation lowers compression readings. Just for reference a stock banshee should kick about 125 psi after a fresh rebuild. 150-160ish (depends A LOT on variances in motors and how your builder set it up) is usually the tops for 93 premium pump fuel.
  12. when you rebuilt your bike did you add any power-adders? It could be your flywheel that is jacked up.....but if you added power and its starting to break up at the high end....it could also be a jetting issue if its not your flywheel.
  13. Jeff at FAST Racing (farmandsandtoys.com) can cut your head to where it needs to be. I believe (don't quote) that if you are shipping your head to him, it is roughly $45
  14. your either running your bike too lean or your have an air leak. Which is causing your bike to "lean rev" or begin to "run away" as a result. Most 2stroke motors will run away when they are starved on fuel. What are your mods to your bike and what elevation and carbs are you running.....and what jets do you have in your carbs?
  15. if you still like to have a key.....get ahold of Jdscustoms......he's one of our site sponsors...87sheerips is his screen name......he sells key relocation brackets that will locate it under your seat
  16. its usually about $300 dollars to do a top end rebuild with quality parts no matter the other work. My vote is to go through jeff at FAST.....he is the guy that I have do my work. Im currently running a FAST dune/play port with fmf fatties, +4timing, vf2's, 20cc domes, k&n pods, and am still running on 93 pump. Bike pulls HARD mid throttle....
  17. back downstate.
  18. Fast racing. farmandsandtoys.com Jeff has em for like 3.5 a piece.....not $60.
  19. have you tried grounding the motor separately to the frame? There was a write up a little while ago that no limits powersports did about running into problems like your having. Put a secondary ground on the bike from motor to frame and it fired right up.
  20. jetting off? What mods are done to the bike and what jets are in the carbs? Do a leakdown test yet? Wonder if there is a air leak in your motor and its slightly leaning you out.
  21. who says dealers mark stuff up more than necessary.....hahahahaha.
  22. you need a compression tester to test it. They sell them at autoparts stores.......don't go with the cheapest ones as they can be inaccurate. Remove spark plugs, install your compression gauge, hold throttle wide open and kick kick kick until the needle stops climbing. Then repeat for the other side. Then get back to us and let us know what your compression is at.
  23. ha....yup....that was me. now live in grayling right now but moving back down south for work. But we still have the cabin in Mio also.
  24. no shit. We ride out of Mio. Nice to know there's a few more banshee riders around. That being said....the only time ive seen law enforcement is over in Lewiston. And it wasn't the DNR, it was the Sheriffs out on their quads. Seen both of them twice and ive talked with them asking about the new laws about riding on sides of the roads.....and neither of them mentioned anything about the non-spark arrested silencers I had on at the time. Since then ive upgraded.....but I never got messed with. Both of the sheriffs were really nice and told me that as long as your not doing anything "completely stupid" they're not out to bother you. Hit me up sometime....my buddy and I would have no problems taking a few rides with local riders up there. Jereme
  25. yea you shouldn't have an issue figuring out where they go......plus since your pulling it apart you'll be able to match em up and realize where they go.
