crash&burn replied to crash&burn's topic in Banshee Repairs and Mods
it is a POS but thanks for the info let it sit and it started better and actully idled -
Buddy Got A new Honda 700.... he put a pipe filter and power programmer on it...... but the problem is that its real hard starting from day one and he holds the throttle open when starting and knowing from other fuel injection quads you dont touch the throttle till its warm or bad things will happen and now cause he dont listen to me it wont even idle or even start half the time so i was wondering if some one could point in the direction of the problem.... or i suggested just blow it up its under warranty its a Honda anyways... and get YAMAHA

i can tell you what i have i ride alot of trails and dunes.... Toomey t-5's, V-Force valve reeds, port job, dirt digger clutch, bored, timing plate, cool head with 17cc or 21cc domes depending on what fuel i wanna run, +4 swimgarm aftermarket shocks front and back dont remeber what they were it been a while and i have dual carbs, i believe thats it and i love my setup.... but it depends on what you wanna do and price range...

What kinda oil do you use? Do you run a synthetic oil? my have stuck before it had to do with the type of oil and weather tempatures.... a little carb clean sprayed in there after running it or rught before going out would clean it right and be fine on mine.... i thought mine might have been those little tabs but it all came down to the oil i used
-
It could be from the old fuel i dont know... i would say there was an air leak some wear and by noticing what you write at the bottom above your post above your pic there you patched your intake with hi-temp silcone and gorilla glue i would say the air leak is there.... but i do know that where i buy my fuel from the guy there tells me when i dont use my fuel keep it in a metal can.... i was told it will last up to 12 to 18 months and being stored in a metal container and in a plastic container it will lose its octane leval over time quicker than in metal can

I Have the dual K&N air filters brand new with outerwears.... i have taken the carbs apart numerous times cleanin them lookin for somethin wrong thinking it was somethin internling in the carb until i noticed the residue on the slide valves...
-
any recommendations on a oil for the fuel and cold weather
-
I posted a topic awhile go on my slide valves sticking... people posted that i changed my throttle cables i did that they still were sticky... i noticed today that there was bulid up on the slide valve i could scrape the oily/fuel like substance of with my finger. i fired up the bike and spayed carb clean on the slide valves working the throttle it cleaned them but this has be a reoccuring problem..... i was thinking this was due to weather at night it has been getting down to 10 to 20 degrees...thinking this is causing the fuul/oil to gel up on them causing the sticky slide valves... should that much fuel be getting on the slide valves.... how to prevent this can i put somethin the fuel to help is it my oil i ahve no idea what causes this... i run 110 race gas at a 40:1 mix using yamaha lube with the banshee on it
-
the left carb on my banshee the slide valve keeps sticking...... so trying to figure out how to solve the problem and have no idea where the problem could be at
-
ok changed all my jets to try and fix my rpm sputter and now was told my floats could be outa of ajustment not letting fuel into the carbs at the right time to fill back up..... so i measured the the float hieght on both of them at .81 inches now do i need lower the floats or raise the floats and how do i raise and lower the floats
-
