  1. For really nasty carbs something like Berrymans Carb Dip can't be beat, completely dissassemble carb, do not soak plastic, rubber, or gaskets, follow directions, use air to blow passages out. Repeat until when you blow air into any passage or hole air comes out somewhere else.
  2. 2. Pages 187-188, 192-204, 56, 88 for storage. I would drain gas tank and float bowls for winter/extended storage.
  3. Bump... someone answer this ^^^^ Q ?
  4. This is all presuming that you are talking base type spacer. My son's 4mil has a head spacer and it has passages for coolant. Check an online parts like Bike Bandit or Babbits for parts diagram for number of location dowels, I don't recall off hand.
  5. Get next two sizes up, this is assuming that it's running correctly OR has good plug chops. Start with the richest and work down, spark plugs are cheaper than pistons. Lots to learn for almost everyone by reading old threads and/or following new ones. Maybe list up what your current jetting, so maybe someone with simular set-up can help. JMHO, your results may , and will vary.
  6. X2 on richer. Plugs are cheaper than pistons. How are reeds? What kind? Just noticed you have same pipes as my son. To me they don't seem to have much over-rev, try gearing up a little.
  7. little grease on so seal isn't dry, goes in before rod goes into shaft
  8. Unless the rubber plug falls out
  9. Sometimes it can be simplist thing. By chance is the little wire that attaches float to float needle hooked up so it pulls the needle down when float drops?
  10. Maybe try 40 rear, pod filters, maybe tad leaner. What kind of tires? How's your launch?
  11. Is the pro filter foam? If so probably need to go up 1 or 2 sizes. Would help a lot to list what jets you have now. There is a good sticky in jetting , "What jets are you running" Lot to sift thru, but might find simular set-up to use for reference.
  12. Check that you don't have a kink in cable. Maybe take it off and run some carb or brake clean thru it. At the very least lube it up good. X-2 on air leaks. Could also try air screws or richer pilot jet.
  13. Bore it, doubt it's on last bore That head will clean up with a little sandpaper.................JK
  14. try adjusting slide stops a little
  15. Well by the looks of the Blaster you have a severe case of the Modification Bug. Almost think the other guy got the better deal , JK. Replace A-arm bushings, run the works shocks unless you trade, and get to work!! Get rid of the boost bottle! I thought intake boots tearing was a myth till I was putting my son"s back together and looked at them closely, and sure enough they were cracking !! I used some plugs from the hardware store with three bond and clamps, no balance tube.
  16. First of all Welcome to BHQ !! You don't have that much more than than your bud and 1/10 in an 1/8 mile is a lot. What's the difference in your trap speeds? What's the rest of your set-up? Lowered? Tires? Swingarm? Etc?
  17. Might not have been the cause, but that is why I never re-use piston pin C-clips
  18. could be "claw" jumped off star.
  19. Are you doing straight-up trade or you adding boot? (extra cash) Have you ridden it? If it's unrideable because of throttle I'd be wary. How will you know if everything works? I'll bet it's been rolled, those aren't stock rear fenders, fronts have lots of stress marks, rad cover cracked. Look at steering hoop closely. Put front on milk crate and check all bushings, ball joints, wheel brgs. Then do same for rear. What is his reasoning for trading a shee for a Blasturd? Throw some pics of Blasty up and list any mods. If you get it fix that foot peg first thing !! BTW, nothing wrong with a Blaster, my son has one along with the shee. Some mods and a little engine work and it's a lot of fun, rips good.
  20. Number of hours I feel is not relevent. Can you belive the person? Unless he's origanal owner who knows how many hrs are on it. Same goes for rebuild. Who did work? Do they have reciepts for all parts? Or at least major parts. Try to take someone with you that knows something about quads/motorcycles that can judge overall condition, knows what BULLSHIT is. Hate to have you coming back a month (or year) from now telling us you got HOSED
  21. Lowers are replacable but not uppers.
  22. Give me the $30, you pay shipping and I'll take it !!
  23. So much for the theory of matching the bore size to the piston
  24. Where are you located?
