well, i was told that it needs to be like tall enough, in the pic the threads looked big enough, but it says 14mm and 18mm, will that fit in a BR8ES spot for the shee? basically if i buy that will it fit in the shee? http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/Yamaha-Wave...%3A1|240%3A1318

go for 30 pwks? i saw some on ebay, brand new for cheap.
-
only 1 turn out? thas alot of air and 240 main .. mm
-
nice, but what happened originally that made you get the motor off the shee? as i know that you said that it would take time etc to put back your shee together.

must i do heating cycles? if so, how long should i heat it for, and how long should it cool for. in the break in secrets, they just said make sure its fully warmed up before you ride it hard, ddnt mention heat cycles. it said only for forged pistons, like wiseco, you must heat cycle so it does not swell. and by decceleration, it it i hold the throttle wide open and let go and let it idle? or? how?

$2000?????? 300 hrs? lolz. sounds like its free... thats so cheap.. for 300 hrs on it. i would buy it right now for 2300 if i was in the states... well yeah, they are reliable. as in 2 strokes, got a blaster, and ive had it for almost 2 years, engine runs mint. i serivced myself all this time till now by just changing the oil and spark plugs ( piss easy). and only sent it once for a full service with carb cleaning at the service center. imo much easier than a 4 stroke to self service. buy it.

thanks for the replys, and for the people who dont know what i mean... about where i heard you should ride it hard is here: http://www.mototuneusa.com/break_in_secrets.htm

sa3ood. also maybe get a 27.5 pilot jet?

heya, i know its an old topic, but, well, as most of you know i was asking if i should buy a new or used shee, and i think im gonna go with a new one. well, im sure you have all heard about the "break-in secrets" that riding it hard for break in is 10times better and better for the engine life. cause on my blaster when i got it new, i rode it softly, and i dont think that was good...i cant tell why i dont think its good but.. i just dont think so, but anyway. has anybody tried this? and does it apply for 2 strokes aswell? has anybody had experience, and knows for sure if its actually better to break in a 2 stroke by riding it hard?
-
yeah, you bought it new. let me start off by saying, all the adds im looking at are arab sellers. im am originally half arab and half american. i know arabs love to ride hard, and most arabs i know have a love for motors, cars and quads. so where i live, they ride it hard, and maybe dont really take care of it, they just buy it and ride it hard. now, most of them, really dont put any mods themselves or anything, the mechanic does all the job. so im starting to think that they are all for sale, with like bad condition everthing, whether its an old top end, or most likely the bottom end ihas a problem somewhere or, with the clutch basket broken. i think im most probably going to get a new one, and hopefully i can afford T5sand pod k&n filters. thats basically all i want. ( maybe a cool head down the road, if they are easy to install). i will be installing all the mods, so im not buying hard things to install like stroker cranks, clutch baskets etc. unless i find a really nice shee which is used, ill take a new 09 shee off the showroom. although the bloody dealers here keep increasing the price, from 6k$ its not $6,500 for a new shee. - oh and here is a clutch question, which just occured to me, talking about bad bikes. let me start off by saying, on my blaster, i pop the clutch ( from neutral) put it into first, then ofc gas it and let go of the clutch slowly. now on my blaster, it starts to move slightly after the clutch is released at half way. now, on the other ATVs i tried out, i noticed that when i release the clutch by about 1/5t, it already starts to get moving, does this mean it needs like a new clutch basket or? cause thats also one of the most common problems i notice with the used bikes i tried out

thanks, but like i said one of the shees was somewhat decent, needed a new ball in the kickstarter, the quad with the airscrews all the way sticking out was the modded one he said he would repair. the main problem with the running stock shee, the second one, was like i said, on idle it sounds like its about to turn off then it lives again, in my opinion, i think it could be that 1 cylinder runs great and the other is not, but since one is running, it forces the other to stay alive and run also, thus you hear it turning off, then re staying on from the working cylinder keeping it running. or it could be some carb problems, which is easy to fix. if it is, ican say, look its running bad, give it to me for a cheap price, something like 2,500.. and maybe fix it up. but if a broken cyl, thats too much though. theres still a few left, but they all want somewhat big amount of money.

Carb size question, 33 vs. 35?
blaster2006 replied to Master of Faster's topic in Banshee Repairs and Mods
go with 33s really. i hear many people have porting pipes etc, and have stock carbs, and just rejet, 33s could also be too big. 33s sound perfect to me. -
in general they say T5s are better on ported engines, and T6's are better for stock engines, anyhow the difference is small. i also hear that from the known brands, FMF is the worst. and in general toomeys are the best. i would personally get toomeys, T6s, but if you find used T5s, go for them.

should your compression go up
blaster2006 replied to peterlocal22's topic in General Banshee Discussion
a question, which im sorry to change the subject on your thread, but i know when you advance timing, it makes the spark plug spark earlier, which sends the piston back down earlier than normallly. why does everyone do this and how does that make your performance better? -
just went to see the 3 quas he had, 2 was stock, 1 had decent mods, both the stockers was REALLY crap., one unrideable, one okay. the okay one had dual K&N pods on it, and re jetted. it was VERY strong, every time i pulled the throttle from 1/4 to like full for a second i feel it was going to wheelie instantly, but the tires were abit, not aligned, the kick start was extremely loose, and on idle, it would sound as if it gos off then fires back on and stays alive. the modded one had t5 pipes on it, but it did not run cause of the carbs out of tune, i ntoiced that the air screw was allll the way out, not even in, and i could tell that the carbs were messed up, but it looked clean. i might take a look at it after he fixes the carbs on it. i guess im gonna stick to the first shee i saw, the 06 special edition, fully stock which i thought was in bad condition, but now i see it was great compared to the others i saw. but he wanted about $4,100 for it. or i might end up just buying a new one, if all the quads are in terrible condition lol :S

cool that there is someone from dubai on this forum. halla sa3ood im from bahrain used to live in dubai for 7 years , nice shee

yeah i can see that the new one, the gear second from right looks in way better condition, go for it replace it with the new one you got

At what point is a Banshee no longer a banshee?
blaster2006 replied to shanYE west's topic in General Banshee Discussion
i always thought that the 100% modified shees arent shees, mainly when the bottom and top end are changed, getting a new motor and cylinders to me, its not a shee, unless its a big bore kit, once you change the motor ( bottom end) its not a shee, changing pipe, carb, air filter, even frame.. and looks, somewhat. the most important thing is the stock motor. and the cylinders, porting it, boring/ honing is fine... as long as it was once stock, completely replacing is where its not a shee anymore IMO. -
okay, and lets say the compression is low from both, or one is normal and the other isnt, what things will i need to buy? i was planning on getting a cool head with pump gas domes.. would that be okay? what other parts and how much would cost for a new topend? oh and how much would a basic compression tester cost?
-
hmm, main jets are really cheap. i think about $2 each, im not great about knowing what jets, but i asked the same question, if i had piped + lid off, and said about a 280. just buy the pilot, surely a 27.5 would be great, and buy all the 4 jets you listed above im pretty sure its in that range. if this helps: on my blaster, when it was stock, a 220 main jet was perfect, golden spark plugs. got pipe, vf3 reeds, removed the snorkle of the airbox, and removed the 2 front screws, so the airbox is somewhat half open, and put some holes on top. from a 220 i went to a 250, and its perfect, i just need to change my pilot because i left the stock one. but if its 80 degrees, and your at sea level ( like i am) adding 4 or even 5 sizes with a lid off sounds good to me. thats just me if its easy to change jets, buy many main jets and go for the 27.5 pilot
-
so, the compression tester just is done by removing the spark plug, and putting the compression tester, then i keep kick starting the quad whilst holding full throttle, until the piston hits the top? should the fuel petcock to the carb bo on off or on? ...

over here, at the dealer, the only thing they do is 1st servicing is free. there is no warranty.
-
yeah i am, the second i sell my blaster, i am guaranteed to get a shee , so ill be askin questions left and right and ordering parts from people form the forum, as i found someone who told me has alot of parts that i would need. ill just need the help installing them . im gonna go look at the 05 shee either today, or after tomorow, he said hes got 2 stock shees, and 1 modded shee, both the stockers are for the same price, so ill try and see which one is better and bargain him maybe all the way down to about $3000 flat.
-
yes i know, but theres something i just.. i dont know. for me modding my own blaster, putting in the reeds and re jetting was "hard" for me ( i hate to re jet with that stupid TORS). the reason why i dont go really deep is because there is wiring, and stuff, i dont want to mess anything up. i still have a 28 mm carb which i was gonna put on my blaster, but since i had no clue how to re attach the whole bunch of wires and the oil injection to the new carb, i just stopped lol. you could say im just scared to go anywhere too deep. what i really need is one of you guys to come here and help me out with all that stuff lol. that would be insane i also wish i could grab any of those insanely good deals on banshees there are on ebay, it just annoys me lol. i would have bought them all . the same shees on ebay i saw would sell for atleast 20% more here, so if somebody can ship em, man it would make tons of money, alot of locals in saudi arabia are dying to get high mods on their quads, but they cant because nobody here sells "toomey pipes" or can port an engine. lol

and can somebody answer this question.. -if i go and buy a new shee, for one and a half years, can i just do nothing but change spark plugs and oil, and clean air filters? and all the other small things like lubing chain and WD-40'ing bolts? and maybe once in the middle of the 1 and a half years take it for a full proper service at yamaha? which means not rebuilding it for 1 and a half years, and still running somewhat good so i can sell it and get rid of it
