well, when you said "dragging", do you mean that it stops and you can feel it in the geartrain before it slides in, or that it goes in, but you can feel dragging in the shifter all the way?

Rejeting 350 Banshee Overbored to 65mm
AKheathen replied to Texaco350's topic in Jetting & Exhaust Forum
welcome to bhq.......so, what did you do to get the 4mill done? porting? cut domes/head, or spacer plate either on the top or bottom of the cylinders? definately rule out any leaks first, if you haven't done a leakdown yet.if it checks out good, then start climbing up on the mains. with the popping/missfire, i would say you are at least 2-3 sizes lean on the mains, with the lid on. did you install a billet plate that bolts in your airbox to run the filter? if so, then you acn just remove the lid, but remember that you need to go up 2 more sizes on the mains when you pull the lid. so, 40f, ~400ft, fmf fatty, and we need to know about the 4mill setup and premix ratio, and can get you closer...... -
well, what kind of maintenance and abuse does he give the bike? how stock is it and is he keeping it that way. i would just inspect the hub and basket before just throwing a new one at it. also, if he is worried about price, but still wants a good one, tusk clutches hold up pretty good, too. i also have a fast clutch and will not hesitate to recomend it either....

hehe, yah, twists are death traps.....my friend put his ds through the back of his new tahoe, and someone else rolled it because of the twist.....that aside, your carbs are not stock, and they should say what they are somewhere, like mikuni, kehin etc, and have the modle/size stamped too.......

plug chops aren't really what you need to get good at, just get a feel for the jetting by how it acts/sounds/feels.......plug chopping is pretty much confirmation and training wheels, so to say....
-
well, you might want to check into t-6's before you jump strait to sst's. they are in the similar "wide band" category. i completely understand being partial to a certain brand, but don't sell yourself short and wonder for that reason.
-
yah, that's pretty rich on a stock needle......i would keep going up on the mains untill you get a sputter at WOT warmmed up, then go down 1 size and then go back to playing with the needle. if you are unsure, do a proper plug chop as described in the sticky to get your mains diald in.... once you find out what size it needs, then you can bump it up if it is going to get any colder.....
-
tit you try fresh/clean plugs? are your float bowls on the correct carb, they can be mixed up.... is your choke tube on?. pull your filter and cover the hole with your hand, and see.......if it starts, your choke is not working right. make sure you are jetted for that cold.......
-
boom...haha.........seriously, too muck compression would detonate and pit/blow the piston and domes......
-
i believe he has a head exchange, too, so you can get a pre-cut head and send yours to save time....squish should be between .030 and .045 optimally, but it can run higher just fine
-
well, what happens when you put new plugs in and what to the old plugs look like? also, what is your elevation, what was the elevation, does the tester have a valve in the tip and as long as the spark plug? have you checked that you are getting good blue spark?
-
yah, you have to be a bit critical with 19's even with a conservative .050 squish, but still possible........i ran 20's on 90 for a while with stock porting and timing
-
am i shooting my self in the foot
AKheathen replied to The Faster Cracker's topic in Banshee Repairs and Mods
that's kinda like running 14/40 with a little less strain on the chain.... -
20's and +4 timing are fine on 93
-
well, did you account for the fuel at the new elevation? if it's a big jump, like 2000' or more, the fuel will change, and you will need to go the other way a few sizes on the jetting, once you put that new fuel in....
-
well, what oils are available? most commonly, you will have to run 927 with the cold weather additive
-
Just moved 3000 miles, help me find a starting point.
AKheathen replied to nigels_world's topic in Jetting & Exhaust Forum
what was your jetting for az? i would guess you would be moving up 3-4 sizes on the mains and mabey 1 on the pilot, but the fuel at higher elevations and elevation change both will affect it also. i'm guessing it was about 3k in az? that would bring you up some and the fuel differences will bring you down some.... -
good deal...hope you can make a perminant venture on this, and more. happy holidys to you too..... woot post #3000......just got a dot, lol

what size carbs were those pods for?

Well my Xmas has started off with a F'n BANG!

bwahahahahahahahahaha....haha........anyways, the original post sounded worse than it was......i understand some bukes are built dry-clean only, and now it's just a badass blaster..... -
well, i didn't have reed spacers to clearance the clutch arm. it just barely would touch the bowl nut. i ended up just tapping the arm down a little and it gave plenty of clearance. it ended up looking level when i was done. i don't know if it's the best idea, but it worked, and that was for mikuni 28 rounds.....
-
yah, i'm lookin at some lectron 30's when i get paid, mabey. i was gonna get mikuni 28flats a while back, but got some 28 rounds that were bored out to 30 at a good deal, so i went with them........i was a little leary about the bottom, but they run pretty damn good

well, i would have been pretty pissed off too, and mabey yell a little, but just take care of it and have christmass as normall. women can be good at forgetting stuff like that sometimes. your engine is most likely perfectly fine. we have done way worse on snow machines, and even sank them in water. i've run my shee through creeks plenty of times and sucked some water; pressure washed it and got a shit ton of water run through it when i went to start it. just had to dry the plugs, kick it a bunch of times, put the plugs back in, and she started back up fine, no damage, and still runnin strong. just be the bigger man and move on. you can always adress the issue in a day or 2, if you need. don't forget what christmass is about, man......it's not all presents and bling. give her gifts to her and simply enjoy her company. at least you get to be home for christmass, instead of working in the middle of nowhere...........i hope you can have a merry christmas, and be happy -
did you also unplug the tors controll box? the little black box under the gas tank next to the coil, on the left.......it will not idle at all otherwise, unless you are barely touching the throttle.
-
nice goin........you should post those lectrons for sale on here. they are supposed to be some really nice carbs once you learn how t tune them right. someone should be happy with them...
