  1. is it still the stock stator and timing? i've heard nothin but bad about rickt stator. you could update it, but i would check your pickup gap (both sides if it's aftermarket like r/s) and replace the plug caps and plugs before you spend much more on it. the caps are really cheap and hard to rule out if they're not completely blown. i highly doubt you got 2 bad cdi's
  2. uh-oh, mines a 97. i'd like to know too, but i think i remember it bein the first year of the newest as far as plugs and cdi, but not 100% on that
  3. yah, i had one of those guys contact me, kept asking for exact amount, even though i posted it in the ad, also wanted to pay with certified check. you can have stuff picked up by a shipper, but watch your back. the last thing i sent him was this, and never heard from him again.
  4. push dis button- free HBO! :yelrotflmao:
  5. ok, ok. i'm waiting on a response from other guy, bu can u send pics? belive i will buy; just wanna see it first
  6. i'm lookin for a cool head. maybey the 3 of us can work something out?
  7. how did those reeds perform over stock? rpm range gains an losses can you show the black where the cover attatches to the seat?
  8. if you want to do it through the keyswitch wires, just connect it to the black wires, and leave the red and brown wires connected to eachother. like fastrthnu said, it's normally open. connecting to the black/white wire and ground or black wire anywhere on your harness will work fine too
  9. yah, it actually makes your bike respond opposite that, and you have to up your pilot, but its good if the snap makes it hard to ride in technical spots. when you put it on a snowmachine engine, it gives just a little boost in the midrange, so the 3rd party manufacturers call it that, but yamaha calls it a resonator, and if it helped with performance, it would've came on the banshee, in stead of the tube
  10. either the cap, or wire on that cylinder. unscrew the caps (boots) and trim the wire 1/4'' and put new ones on. or did the coils come with them?
  11. it does have a balancing effect, but verry limited effiency and wouldn't help much against anything over a slight imbalance issue
  12. i'm not sure how the rumor got started that they are supposed to hold anything, but they were designed by yamaha to absorb the return pulse on a single cylinder, thus dampening the double enrichment effect. the factory tube does a much better job by redirecting part of the pulse to the other side during it's intake pulse
  13. i know it's early, but i wanna setup for a spring ride in alaska, and of course, i'm still winter riddin too. lemme know
  14. yah, i threw the 650 in th wrong cat, but i was standing up to walk out the door to work, not payin attention when i threw them in there. i was just refering to the power curves
  15. jets r us link
  16. ok, jut looked at my first post again, and my examples are contradictive to my last post, save for the blaster, because that's pretty close, but you'd have to really mod the banshee to match it for comparison. as for the balance, i did mean that one side caries the other on the low end, and rotational mass does the work on the top end.
  17. 6 is qiute hot. if you are lucky, they will glaze before they detonate. doing a plug chop run with those, is asking for a rebuild.
  18. your not looking at the same engines to base your comparison. like dave says, but i didn't want to go into detail, because i was headed to work, you have to look at the same engine in 1 and 2 cylinder. they would have to have the same bore/stroke ratio, same induction, without any sort of balancing device. th closest comparison i can give you would be like a f1 engine vs. a 4 banger. never mind the power difference, but when set up the same, the v8 will have a longer pwer curve, than the 4 cylinder. you also can't compare 2 different types of machines, because your fuckin up the hp/weight ratio. that's like pitting a r6 against a rmk, not even a plausable comparison. any motor can be tuned for what you need, but strictly stayin on subject, i stick to my previous post.
  19. actually, that's the dofference between a 2 and 4 stroke. twins have better balance, giving more mid-bottom end to the 2 stroke. single cylinders either scream, or have more bottom, but at a narrower powerband. look at the blaster, yfz450, raptor, etc. the twins have more of a full range, like the banshee, and 650ds.
  20. coulda been fuel line on the pipes and bad jetting, or hot fuel making it like lean condition, causing the pipes to get hot enough to ignite the fuel.....? what's wrong with the pipes?
  21. you can pinch the nut in a vise too, to make it a lock nut. you will have to crank it all the way on, instead of just spinning, but it shouldn't loosen, even if the threads are worn. you'll have to find a big vise though, or smack it with a bfh
  22. the black goes to ground, and the black/ white feeds to the cdi. did you change anythin else? test the black wires on the switch, and the black/ white wire on the bike harness to make sure it's not reading ground.
