  1. Dude, DON'T. You'll regret it...
  2. Right on! I was gonna see if you could go, you got 2 weeks man...plenty of time! And if I can make the drive that far you should have no problem.
  3. D34, if you can get to Roswell with your trailer (and room for my quad), I've got the truck to pull it and the fuel paid for... 400grl, pretty sure I can make it, I got all the entry/gate/camp fees covered by one sponsor, just waiting to confirm which truck & trailer I can take and make sure it's cool stayin' Thursday night with a buddy in Casa Grande. Think I'll pass on the wheelie contest, ridingorhiding can confirm my pathetic skills in that department, heh.
  4. Holy crap, just scoping out Weller's page, 400grl is running 1st in the state in Novice class! RIGHT ON!! Guess that answers the question if you're racing, huh?
  5. Cool, I just emailed RPM about the track and Jason about the tech inspection, prolly a good 10+ hour drive for me but it sounds like a blast. Hope I can make it, thanks for posting 400grl!! Are you gonna race at all? I'm by no means a drag expert but if I made it over there I'd give it a shot too...
  6. SWEEEET!!! Gonna email them now and see what they have planned for the TT track-humps and whoops?? Sounds like halfway between MX & TT...sounds like a blast!
  7. I agree with fixitrod, the Toomey setup gets you the airflow and dust protection you're after...
  8. Right on Hiram. Hey Reas11, you get the email I sent...wallpaper images? If not lemme know and I'll send them again Monday.
  9. True txblueshee, larger pilots would be a good idea, but the pilots and mains will still depend alot on the air filter/box setup...30's for sure if no lid (possibly even larger than that, I run 32.5's for 3500' or 35 pilots @ sea level with a K&N). I kinda doubted more than 25's would be needed if the airbox lid was still on & intact (but I could be wrong). Heh Screamin', it's not my house but I haven't been run off yet... Hiram, it's hard to pin down jetting for porting since there's so many variables, and I don't have alot of experience there. Your best bet would be to see what Racelogic's recommendations are and go from there. Your drag pipes will likely need a little richer main jetting than other pipes, and again the airbox setup you decide on will have some affect as well. The best advice I can offer is to start with the mains on the rich side and work your way down. Good luck and let us know what you think of the templates.
  10. Float height should be 20-22mm, link to the Jetting FAQ is in my sig. B370's page has the goods on porting the reed cages: http://www.roostfest.com/ Does it backfire or just not hit on one side? Could be the reeds, float height, or coil/connections like boonman said, might also be TORS if you have it, an air leak on the right side, plugs or a connection on the plug boot. How do the plugs look now?
  11. I'd get a pair of 280, 290 and 300's. Wouldn't hurt to have 270's just in case, and you'll eventually need larger ones too if you get the air filter and can remove the airbox lid...310, 320 and maybe 330's.
  12. I'm sure it would, if you could find the right foam filter to fit it...you might email UMI and see what they say (I have a K&N on mine).
  13. I run an UMI adapter plate, works great: http://www.umiracing.com If you want max flow and don't care if you lose a little bottom end power go with carb-mounted filters, otherwise go with the adapter in the box with no lid or the Toomey 2 into 1. Usually you won't need to mess with the needle clip position unless you get aftermarket reeds/cages, but they are all a little different so I would dial in the mains and then see if there's any bog or hesitation between about 1/4 and 3/4 throttle, if so you can play with the needle clip positions and see if it helps or not. Some people like aftermarket needles, some didn't notice much difference so it's up to you if you want to try them or not (I haven't tried anything but stock so can't offer a firsthand opinion). Good luck.
  14. I wouldn't waste my money on a "jet kit", just get the jets from whoever has them cheapest...most bike shops will have small hex Mikuni mains in stock. To get the most out of those pipes you REALLY need to upgrade the air filter setup, depending on where you're riding either a foam or K&N in the airbox with no lid (on an adapter that doesn't rely on the lid to secure the filter), carb-mounted foam or K&N filters, or a Toomey 2 into 1. Anyway, if you hafta run it with the stock airbox and no snorkel for now, I'd start with 290 mains, stock pilots and needle clip position. Should be a safe starting point (assuming 32:1 premix ratio, near sea level, and 60-80 degrees F, if higher elevation drop one size for every 2000' or so, if colder add a size for every 30 degrees or so). If it bogs at WOT drop a size on the mains until it revs out clean. More info on dialing in the jetting circuits in the Jetting FAQ below. Good luck.
  15. I wouldn't say my wife likes my Banshee...I guess she tolerates my addiction. She has dogs and I have a Banshee...
  16. Good luck ABM, hope you're racing soon...
  17. Hey ABM-BANSHEE! It is a blast, you should definitely give it a shot. I entered the Novice class again this year, and they ran us with the Amateur class (next higher class) in TT. It was so wet on the first race I got a bad start and completely showered with roost...really coulda used some tearoffs because if I didn't have to slow down twice to wipe off my goggles I think I coulda finished 2nd or even 1st. Anyway, I took the holeshot on the second TT race and led it flag to flag, I beat everyone in my class and all the Amateurs also (they ran in our class again). I got 1st overall. There were some guys missing in the TT races, I dunno where Berti was but I talked to Matt and he didn't have his quads ready for this race (runs a Z400 and is building an LT250R). Still, pretty decent turnout I think. There was a TON of quads on the MX track, they are the first to race so you might have missed both motos (the second moto was around 2pm). At least 10-15 quads in each MX class; Beginner, Novice, Amateur and Expert. Hope you can make the next races in October (the dates are on the flyer above). If so cruise by and say hey, I'm usually at the back of the pits or in the TT staging area.
  18. Had my '96 Banshee since 6/25/00, this Labor Day just picked up an RZ350 motor for my second "project" Banshee... So 1 and a half right now, soon to be 2, wouldn't mind if it was 4 (one for TT, one for duning, one for drag racing, one for the hell of it)...
  19. I run a K&N with Outerwear in the stock airbox, no lid. I ride about 50/50 between dunes (no dust), and TT (nasty dust sometimes), with some occasional desert riding thrown in. I've never had any problems with the K&N or the Outerwear, or the UMI Racing air filter adapter plate. It may or may not filter out the finest dust but it beats the hell out of the stock setup, and in my case it works great.
  20. Hey Sheebastard, where's Santa Teresa? Sounds kinda familiar but I haven't ever ridden there... And they don't let anything on White Sands (beside foot traffic-whee), seems like a waste to me, but the dunes aren't all that huge anyway.
  21. Aye, a Celtic legend that. Never heard the crow part tho. Fitting description for the machine...hear the Banshee wail and know somewhere a 4-stroke is dyin'.
  22. I wish. Who the hell wants to walk around in the dunes anyway?!? Kermit, TX has some nice dunes, there's some small dunes East of Roswell (Mescalero Sands), there's some more around Loco Hills, NM, and I've heard of a place called "Red Sands" around El Paso, TX but never been there...
  23. ROFL!!! Bansheeboy757 that is some awesome work with the logo and the sig... And Brooke the pic(s) are the shizzle.
  24. Gonna be racing the TT on September 7th, first race of the season, hope to see some new people at the track!!
