  1. Not sure why it would be thought that having a crossover would cause tuning issues. Don't see why it would.
  2. I've used some of their stuff before, as one of my good buddies is a harbor freight lover and I can see how the 3/4" drive stuff would be more than fine for the average guy. I hate when universals break, as it usually means busted knuckles from being in a weird tight spot around sharp edges....lol.
  3. Blaster pistons will change port timing as well.
  4. The "professional" labeled craftsman wrenches aren't the worse. They actually have a decent length to them as well. Just no "flank drive" on the open end tho.
  5. Yeah, some of that harbor freight stuff will be good enough for that one job and sometimes its not. Fouledout, what size drive was that universal?
  6. Jbooker82, yeah its annoying and funny when the sears ratchet has to turn like 60 deg to ratchet 1 tooth. Man them ratchets suck. I remember breaking one, then going and getting it warrantied and when I got home, the new one broke the first time I used it. That's when I said enough is enough and I bought in on snap-on, matco, and a FEW mac itemS. For what I was spending in gas and time to go to sears everytime I worked on a project, it wasn't wortg it. Sure snap-on costs more, but I have never been stuck in the middle of a project cause of a broken tool like with sears "crapsman" tools. I guess I just spend the money and use what works for me. 2strokespirit, very interesting you had issues with too long of wristpins before as well.
  7. Locogato, what point of yours am I supposidly not understanding? You guys apparently aren't understanding my point.
  8. We sure as fuck can blame the Taiwan company, when the Taiwanese made part fails.
  9. I NEVER EVER said it was ok for Wiseco to sell a Taiwan wristpin. Hence my reason to rant about the problem on here to alarm others and have them pay attention to their assembly, for a incorrect wristpin length. What made you think I said it was ok for Wiseco to sell Taiwanese wristpins? I have no problems with the Japanese rings that came with the pistons. Heck I would have had no issues with the Taiwanese wristpin, had the length been right. But I had to perform a lathe operation that should not have needed to be done on my end. The manufacturer should have had it right the first time.
  10. And I said just before that I have used some Taiwan stuff for sled applications and it worked fine. Yes not all Taiwan stuff is garbage!! But the 29L/R rods are!!
  11. Haha fouledout. Boy you sure love Taiwan. You should move there. Remember them ratchets are made to blue point/snap-on specs.
  12. I've split a number of craftsman sockets and SK sockets. And a bunch of craftsman ratchets. I've never broke a snap-on or matco socket before. There is a difference. At any rate it was just an example, but carry on......
  13. Dajogejr, if this topic and what has been posted bothers you that much, just simply don't click on this topic and read it. Read a different topic. No one is holding a gun to your head making you come on here and read this. Geeeez.
  14. Fouledout, I guess good to know that wiseco is actually helpful on the phone. It was easy enough for me to face the needed amount off and then its fixed sooner too, versus waiting for 2 new pins from Wiseco. Yeah, I was never a fan of Wiseco pistons myself. I prefer the more durable cast pistons. Also, I heard no bad things about the 4mill Vitos crank, so I felt the most comfortable buying that crank versus a wang crank or hot rods or wiseco. I guess I can't and shouldn't knock all of Taiwan products, as I have used SPI con rod kits and SPI pistons before in sled applications with ZERO issues. I do have to say there is shit Taiwan and good Taiwan. Just like USA......good stuff and bad stuff. Craftsman bad......Snap-on good.
  15. Um no. The viper was never claimed to be 145hp. The viper only had a single pipe and made 118-122hp. The srx came with triples and was advertised at 145hp for '00-'02 and 140hp for '98-'99. The newer models had heads that were 2cc smaller and hotter port timing.
  16. Sheerider, it don't pay to call Wiseco. All I'm gonna get is a woman who is gonna say "well that's the part number my computer shows is right". Just like when you go to your local Auto Zone or whatever and you get some dumb box that gives you the wrong parts, or asks if your car has air conditioning while you're trying to get brake parts. I figured I knew what needed to be done to the wristpins to make them work, so I just went ahead and did it. I guess I just wanted to give a heads up to all using Wiseco pistons. Pay attention to the wristpin length. Also, goes to show that its hard to find good replacement parts that aren't messed up. Same with auto parts.
  17. Ummmmm, Wiseco I'm sure provided them with the proper print and dimesions. Its just that Taiwan couldn't read the print right with them shitty ass slits they call eyes. Not to mention it means the quality control is piss poor. Mikeocheck, I decided to go with a Vitos 4 mill crank. It wasn't as great as what the hype was. My keyway for the waterpump gear was off a little, so I had to sand the key to make it fit. Also, the flywheel keyway is pretty sloppy and the key needed to be glued in place, just so the flywheel would go on and not pop the key out of the keyseat. I just hope and pray the rods stay together. Where did you send your cub cylinders for repair?
  18. Well guys, I was assembly my 4 mill motor the other day and was getting frustrated with a stubborn new circlip that wouldn't go into the brand new 795 series Wiseco piston. So, I started looking at the piston and wristpin more closely and noticed the wristpin was .040" (1mm) too long, so the end of the wristpin was covering up the circlip groove partially. So lucky for me I have a lathe and faced .023" off of each side and now the pin fits correctly, along with the circlips installing right. And go figure, the wristpin wrapper said "Made in Taiwan" on it. I hate the China and Taiwan junk parts out there. And that's what the overpriced/over rated Wiseco pistons come with. So for anybody assembly a motor with wiseco pistons, check the wristpin length before torqueing down the cylinders, cause you will have a clirclip fall out and take out the cylinder/piston. The proper length should be 2.130" or 54.1mm.
  19. Exactly dirtydownunder, I was told as well when I bought my 4mil 29L/R crank that it was as good as or better than the expensive billet cranks on the market. The only choice at that time was that crank, vitos (which i hadn't heard any reviews on yet), wiseco (which i knew were junk) and hotrods (which i knew had rod failures here and there).
  20. Who says we penny pinch? And we would love to have QUALITY parts available, but like I stated a long time ago, that there aren't much quality aftermarket parts available for the banshee. Like you even states yourself, that you had a billet crank fail on you, and you didnt penny pinch. But then again, that billet crank was made out if an inferior material, or it wouldn't have broke. And with all the same rod failures happening all over, how can you even say the customer has to take the blame?? It ain't his fault the parts were inferior from the start. Again, most of these banshee engines aren't pushed to their limits. There is still no reason we shouldn't be able to buy a rod that can withstand 80-100 hp all day long with hard running. Sleds have them. Dajoe, them are crank hp figures. Same as most banshees listed/posted hp figures. Fouledout, all sled manufacturers list hp figures from the crank. None measure from the track. The only ones are a select few drag racers and clutch component manufacturers.
  21. http://www.priceperf.com/yamaha/yamaha.htm The '00-'02 srx 700's made 142-143 hp stock on the dyno. Yamaha claimed 145 hp.
  22. Fouledout, my hp postings on some sleds are not outta the ballpark. Maybe if you did some googling on the web, you would see some sled hp figures and that they make decent hp. Don't say my sled hp postings are incorrect, before knowing a thing or two about a sled engine. Hell you prolly never drove one.
  23. Yes 29L is a stock rod and is lots stronger than the taiwan 29L/R rod. Fouledout.....I noticed your outta this ballpark hp claim the minute you posted it. I simply ignored it, like many are ignoring the fact of these taiwan rods being shit. Locogato, we sound like a broken record?? So do you and Andy telling everyone that had a rod failure that it was there poor jetting and poor assembly that caused there rod failures. You keep sticking up for these shitty cranks/rods, but its easy to see why......cause the distributors selling them and giving your site $$$ to advertise, so it wouldn't make any sense for you to bad mouth them and have them lose some business. At any rate, carry on......
  24. Coupelx, I thought that was great too........pffffft Fouledout having a banshee with 10x the hp of others. Whatever. The only way it would is if it was a 4cyl R1 motor with a turbo on it.
