Did you remove the TORS right? After that, i would totally suspect carburetion. How familiar are you with the carbs? It totally sounds like a jetting prob. Post your set up...

How does that thing work off road? Have you ever duned it? Can you "feel" the weight difference between it and your 700? What does it do better? Not so good? Thanks!
-
True, but in the end, he'llprobably wind up buying both if he buys the Carbon Techs first... That's the thing with these dang-blasted Banshees--too much is NEVER enough....

Cool. Just double-checking. And thanks!!

I've watched the stock carb synch video (great video--I can't wait for Nitrotate to finish his...) and am pretty familiar with the stock mikuni's. However, I've recently installed a set of Kehin PWK 28's and am just wondering if the synch procedures are basically the same. How do I synch my PWK Keihins? Thanks! Oh, BTW, I also just ordered the carb synch tool from Jeff at FAST.

Everyone I asked that knew has told me that 20cc domes require 50/50 mix (race/pump) most of the time, and 19cc domes definitely require race gas. I would start there as that is the "new" variable you introduced. Backing off the timing is addressing a symptom, not the problem...

Well, they sell more VForce 3 reeds than Carbon Tech's, so that might tell you something. I didn't really know much about reeds when I bought mine, but I knew that a lot of the real good-running bikes had 'em, so that's what I did... They are very high quality.

Sounds like you're looking for justification 'cause you've already made your mind up. The 400EX is a good bike. It's no Banshee, but it really sounds like you should do it.

Classic 2-stroke "seize," either from a lean condition or too much heat. In any event, as the post stated above, you'll have to pull the head to see the extent of the damage. Could be that a simple re-ring and re-bore willget you going again, but more than likely, you'll need new pistons. And like was stated, you'll want to check for any excessive play in your crank (or any "rough spots), indicating bad bearings...

I've seen some fantastic spary paint jobs.... and I've seen really, really bad ones. Like was mentioned above, prep work is key. Good sanding, keeping it clean, a good primer, taking your time, etc.

Mains seem a little fat and the pilots seem a little lean. But how does it run? I'm currently at sea level, and am trying 160 mains and 45 pilots... Don't really know how they'll do on the dunes until I get out there (I can't do plug chops in my neihborhood, though I can manage short "test rides"), but they feel pretty good so far... Southern California--85+ degrees, very little humidity...

bought banshee ... cant get it to start please help

....if that doesn't work, try swapping out your CDI for a known good one. A friend's Banshee was a hard/intermittent start, and it turns out his CDI was bad.... -
SOLD!! Thanks, Austin!!! Super fast shipping, and a fantastic Axle~

The beauty of buying a used set of paddles is that "one more trip" isn't going to hurt their value in the least... Do yourself a favor, as it seems you're planning for a while for this trip: buy a set of paddles. Use them. If you aren't hooked on sand after the first trip, turn around and sell them for exactly what you paid for them when you get home. I went through 4 sets of used paddles for my KFX450 before I settled on my current Skat Trac edges--but I knew the very first time I hit a dune at Glamis that duning was for me. On my Shee, it's gonna be Haulers or Extremes--nothing else looks or feels right to me on a Shee. It came with a set of Sand Stars, but I think they're heavy and they're on the "ugly" ITP C wheels....
-
Dude, it's a $1000. If it aint stolen, jump on it!
-
If you guys don't mind, I might be down with September... but is anybody going between now and then? Or is it too busy? I went to Glamis over Memorial Day--weather was PERFECT, but it was empty...

Yes, the newer Banshee/Raptor wheels will fit. And the "9" is the same at the end of the size.... it denotes a 9" diameter wheel...

Wow! Great looking Banshee! I love that Orange--never thought I would... I think I'll be ordering my Fullbores in Orange instead of Black.... Which orange did you use for the base?
-
Also, check the basics: float bowl level, make sure the carbs are clean, make sure your petcock is flowing fuel, etc.

He must have bought a Monday morning bike. I love my 'Shee, but my KFX was fast as fook stock, and is now wicked fast... No way a stock Shee would have touched it even stock... At Dumont, when it was stock, I got walked on by breathed on Shees, but I was right there with other 450's that were sporting exhaust, etc. I'm not exactly small at 235, and the Kawi was plenty of bike even then. But back to the point, as others have suggested, a set of T5's, proper jetting, K&N pods, and a timing plate should set you straight... Porting and a bigger set of carbs will make your bike a monster...

Looking for the following parts for my Shee: Full Bore plastics extended Axle (LSR, RPM, or Durablue) Ricky Stator 200W, with adjustable timing plate. Axle and Full bore must be in excellent cosmetic condition. Thanks!

Safe? Run 350's or 340's and work your way down, if necessary. Read up on plug chops and what to look for. Oil? Safe? Run 32:1 and see how your bike likes it. As you learn more, you will develop a preference for oil, ratio, etc. Your friend is "hatin' " I know some peeps with more than a couple seasons on 403 kits that make great power--all things being equal and good quality, it's all in the maintenance, tuning, and how you ride it. I'm fairly new to 2-strokes myself, but I've been very conservative with my settings, based on what I've learned on this site...

Sand in your cylinders can't be good... As suggested above, I would tear it down, hope my cylinders aren't scored, clean everything up, and start over. People are paranoid about cleanliness when assembling engines, and for good reason--any particle will score your cylinders, and possbly damage your rings. This will lead to poor performance, or KABOOM.

Count me in for a copy too! Sounds like a great idea... There is a time-lapse Blaster video on You-tube that helped me a bit when I did the top-end on the Blaster--I really wished it was slower for more instructions as I saw how it could really help. An edited 2-hour video sounds great!! Thanks!!!
