Someone told me the K&N's off of my sotck carbs would work on my 28 PWK's... They lied!! LOL!! For the life of me, I couldn't squeeze those suckers on! Anyone know what the part number is for the correct K&N's?

Definitely normal thread. i.e. "Lefty Loosey, Righty Tighty." I used a massive Crescent wrench from Harbor Freight Tools. The proper 50mm open end wrench from Motion Pro might have been better, but I had no trouble...

The main seems a little fat, and your pilot seems a little lean... I'd try stepping down to 310 or 300, and step up to a 27.5 pilot. You have enough mods that it might be a good idea to setp up to a nice set of Keihins or Mikunis... A set of Keihins would be a lot easier to tune and give you added performance.

I'm selling my IMS 5.6 Gallon gas tank--I am gowing with an all-black theme and this tank is blue. In great shape, some darkening on the lower part from fuel (very normal on the IMS or Clarke tanks). Fuel cap included. $150/shipped to the lower 48. Paypal preferred. Thanks!!

I mounted up the Tirnity Exhaust system (thanks Austin!), and everything went relatively smooth. The silencer hangers, however, are giving me a bit of grief. Can you folks confirm that the bolt size for the hangers is 8mm with a 1.25 pitch? I had to source longer bolts (the Trinity hanger requires a 60mm bolt), but although the pitch looks and feels identical to the old bolts, I can't seem to get the new bolts to thread in smoothly. TIA!!

PM sent. I'll take both covers, the headlights, and the tail light. Thanks!

You'll need a 50mm wrench to loosen/undo the axle nuts. And you might have to take a rubber mallet to it in order to help it "walk ou." I just replaced my axle on Sunday (I'm fairly new to working on ATV's), and I found it was a lot easier than I thought... Good luck.

Got my PM, and sent the donation--I can't wait to see it! Thanks again, Tate!!! Oh, BTW, a "how to" on powder coating, and maybe a starter kit at one point, would be a fooking great idea!! I've always wanted to know how to do it...

All of the advice here is great--I just want to add that you get "mad props' " for trying--at least you're in there, trying to get it done. Just slow down a bit, take things one step at a time, nice and easy. It is okay if it takes you a couple days to put the jugs back on and sort the carbs.... -
Definitely! I can't wait to see 'er run!

...Just for giggles, this is what my trailer looked like on my way back from my first trip to Pismo (this past February): The Banshee pictured was my first Banshee (a bit of a turd). It didn't run right and kept leaking fuel. Sold it for a song to a firend with the appropriate caveats....

I'm most likely going to be there Saturday morning. I want to check out the drags, and meet some of the guys. My Shee probably won't be ready, but I'll be cruising my KFX450--and might even line it up!
-
Nice pics, but you own a 'Shee now... Buy a $50 digi on eBay and get on with it! Great looking bike! BTW, NYUK, is that you in the Jolly Dwarf pics?

Just picked up the fullbores and lonestar sprocket carrier--Good stuff! Great seller!

I'd start at 155 main jets and work my way down... Any engine/porting work?
-
Sign me up... I'm definitely buying a copy. It looks like a lot of effort went into it--I'm sure it will be worth every penny... Oh, BTW, not trying to be an ass, but the "Carburetors" heading is mis-spelled... ;o)

Dude, the Aliens are fine... T5's are mentioned most because they are a great bang for your buck pipe that also keep up with porting/engine mods. I had a set of T5's on my otherwise-stock '02 Banshee and they looked/sounded/performed great. I have a set of Pro-Circutis on my current Banshee and they loo/sound/perform great. I'm swapping them out for a set of Trinity Stage 4 pipes just to try something new, but I really, really liked the Pro-Circuits as well. If the pipe is working for you and your level/style of riding, why mess with success? If you stick with one of the name brands, and especially those that get good reviews here, you should be more than good. My .02

I would start with the obvious. Make sure you have a fresh set of plugs in there, that the plug wires are in good shape, the caps on tight, etc. Next, you need to know how your bike is jetted--which means pulling the carbs and figuring out what's going on in there. I really don't think its a jetting issue unless you're way off on you the pilot jets. Because your bike seems to start fine at times and not at others, I would suspect something else. I also doubt its a stuck bowl issue--it usually leaks fuel when a bowl sticks. Some bikes can be a b*tch to start if the compression is low, too, so that's something else to consider. Get a manual, search some posts here, and just dig in. Good luck!

Those look a heck of a lot like my 28's... Just use a ruler--the throat will be just over an inch in diameter if they're 28's..

CLEANING OUT GARAGE AGAIN

Austin is great to deal with! -
First picture provides the best clue--you need to slide the little "ball" at the end of the cable out of where it's being retained. Look at it carefully and it will be very obvious...

How have these been working out?
-
Use a blow dryer, get 'er nice and warm. Then use a towel and some WD40... If it's real stubborn, electrical contact cleaner or carb cleaner will work too, but be careful--I've ruined clear coats with that stuff. They also sell some 3M adhesive removal stuff at Home Depot that works pretty darn good...
