  1. IMO, you'd be much better served sticking with stock, ported cylinders, going 4mil, and using the money saved over a cub to get a nice set of 29/30mm PWKs (Keihin or the OKO knock-offs), a set of VForce III reeds, a decent exhaust system (T5 or similar), and a good clutch... You're asking your bike to do a lot of different things. While a Shee with a Cub/Dunable/Lockup CAN do a lot of those things, it would still be more focused on Hillshooting and less so on trail riding or duning. A dunable OR is more "back loading safe" than a non-dunable, but still not as durable in that sense as a good stocker...
  2. Still take the ASV's. Let me know... Thanks!
  3. Any bad slippage or weird noises coming from the clutch/tranny? If not, I'd do just as you suggest it if you can afford it: Buy a top-end ready to go, bolt it up, enjoy your ride, then tear into it after you return... Just my .02
  4. That thing looks great! Good work, B!
  5. Bump for a local And a sweet Shee!!! Dang that thing looks good!
  6. I'll take the ASV levers and the billet grab bar if they're still available. Tried to PM, but your box is full
  7. I loved that Banshee... I didn't even want to ask...
  8. Nah, they suck... and carbin fibre is brittle... Just give them to me, and I'll give you a nice set of aluminum ones instead...
  9. Interested in the Stator/timing plate and the lights--condition of the stator?
  10. You probably already have TORS elimination kit (apparently made by Terry Cable). That's a plus. Do you have idle adjustment screws on the sides of your carbs?
  11. I would suspect jetting....
  12. I hear yuo--but just note that they're not alone. Ever try to buy bolts from Cascade? Same thing... What I usually do is find a good "nuts and bolts" place locally. Here in the Los Angeles area, we have about two or three good ones (Metrix, etc.), and although not "cheap," they are certainly better than going straight to Cascade (or JJA). Recently, I needed to find 2 6x55mm bolts in order to mount my Trinity Exaust (pipe hangers), and bought a set of stainless for $2.50 each. Good quality, US-made hardened bolts...
  13. With a +4 you'll need a new chain for sure. I'm not certain about thebarke line, but I woudl think you would need a new one also...
  14. Well, I just paid $30 + shipping for their Keihin Idle screw "bolts..." But they are much better than the stock plastic crap. Things made in the USA are just more expensive. I'm not saying that $2 a bolt is great, but I'd rather spend the $2 on an American bolt than .75 on a questionable foreign bolt... Just my .02
  15. Mine actually richened the bottom up a bit, so you'll need to double-check after installation. I have the VF3s, and used a billet intake designed for VF3's simply because I didn't want to go through the hassle of cutting my stock intakes (its a pain in the rear!). I also installed a set of Keihin 29mmm PWKS--this was probably my favorite mod (after exhaust) as it completely simplified tuning and gave me very crisp carburetion. At the very least, get a TORS removal kit and dump that ugly crap that lives on top of your carbs! You can find most of these things cheap on eBay (I see tons of carbs, etc. on there regularly--matter of fact, there is a nice set of Mikuni TM 28mm's on there right now...), and you'll learn a heck of a lot by replacing the parts. I've also had great luck on here with fellow HQ members and good deals on good parts.
  16. Quite a few people run these carbs.... I'm currently using JJH needles, middle clip, 155 mains, 48 pilots, and the pilot screws at 1.5 turns out with the same filters. Great set of carbs.
  17. No dyno, but seat-of-the-pants dyno tells me my 29mm Keihins (bored by Sudco) fuel better and make my bike faster than it was with the stockers. The ease of tuning alone should make them a worthwhile mod. I know I wanted better carbs than the stockers, but I wasn't sure that I wanted anything bigger than 30mm--anything bigger would compromise the low end too much for me.
  18. Well, it's really difficult for a 4-stroker to "seize." they usually break a timing chain, which leads to a bent valve, or they hole a piston, or throw a rod, etc. Is there any debris in the oil at all (not just water)? Have you tried push starting your rail in 3d gear?
  19. Lol!! Part of the fun of owning a Shee... Bike looks good--especially when compared to the "before" pic.
  20. That sounds like a very mature statement... I have both--A nicely done Banshee and a nicely done KFX450R. I can tell you that not many "Cherry Bomb and Piped" LTR450's would walk on my KFX, and very few Banshees. I've been to Dumont twice, and Glamis 7 times this year (I'm not counting my one trip to Pismo or my many "tune" rides to California City or Barstow). I got beat the first few runs up the hills... Once I mastered the whoops and learned how to shift my weight and go balls-to-the-walls, I started winning, or being very close. I got beat a couple times by "sleeper" Banshees with built engines, and twice by a Raptor 700 (running a high-comp piston and VP Race gas). But most YFZ450s, LTR's, etc. were easy pickins. You can see what my mods to my KFX are in my sig below--not many, but tuned to perfection, and i ride it like I stole it. In the end, most of the time, it is about the rider. Who can manage the whoops and who can manage traction the best. Bold statements about "racing for pinks," etc. are mostly BS. Ask any dragracer here. If someone were to seriously challenge me that way, I'd pour 2G's into the motor and walk away with their bike... Silly. My. 02.
  21. Thanks guys! I'll try Cascade innovations (Jeff at FAST didn't have them--I'd prefer to buy from him). Josh, I might have tried boiling the ends, but the difference is substantial enough that I hesitate to do it. The stockers are at something like 1 11/16" and the Keihins are at 2 1/16".
  22. $125 shipped... I don't have any pics of it mounted (I never got to mount it), but there are some pics here on the list...
  23. Leave it alone for now and go ride it! Then report back...
  24. I dunno, guys... I think that the T5's/bigger or better carbs, and some timing advance will get him real close--at least close enough to make it a rider thing versus a faster bike thing. I basically have "bolt on mods," and my Shee feels faster than my KFX450 (but I don't really know...). I'd recommend you proceed with the bolt-ons, then see how you like your bike. You can then decide what type of riding you prefer and build from there. And with the right bolt ons (like those you mentioned), youwon't have to upgrade them later. Just my .02
