  1. Are those port sizes with or without the stroker plate? Because it sounds like cutting the ports to those numbers are without a plate. If your not running a plate you need stroker domes. I know after looking at my 4mil cylinders there is a lot of porting done to get into the 70-75hp range. Its not just opening up the exhaust port and transfers. The port angles, port shapes, and the port tunnels are all different then stock to get a well rounded motor. It doesn't take much to really screw up how the motor runs with the wrong angle or port shape
  2. Easy thing to do is take a screw driver handle and tap the side of the bowl. If the carb stops leaking the float is sticking. Take the bowl off and check everything out to see if there is anything that could hang the float up.
  3. Make sure your float isn't sticking and that the little screw by the lower hose is screwed all the way in
  4. So, can anyone offer up some good reading matieral for porting or a good porting program? Can anyone tell me some good porting tools also? Maybe someone out there has some laying around they may want to part with?
  5. What was your jetting with your stock carbs? When I went from stock carbs to 28 pwks mine didn't seem to run right either. I pulled off my air lid and the thing ran great. I think the air lid chokes it up too much with the 28s. I might be wrong on that but it seemed to work for me. I had T6s, 20cc domes, VF2, open air box with a twin air filter. I had 45 pilot, N68A needle in the middle, 160 main.
  6. What is your jetting? Is your tank flowing fuel right? Is the quad getting hot?
  7. Yeah. I have been checking their stuff out for awhile now. You were talking about both a cheetah and a cub so I was wondering which one you wanted. --- Ok, i just reread your post. I confused myself, lol. With a PV cheetah you really wouldnt need more then a clean up for the racing you do. They really have a great broad powerband for a 2stroke.
  8. Brandon, are you machining stock banshee heads to fit cheetah cylinders or cub cylinders? I was under the impression that the cheetah heads were totally different the the banshee heads (bolt pattern, cylinder spread, etc.)
  9. Ok. Are you talking about a cheetah motor or a cub? The tss guys are using the pv cheetah motors in their street bikes. If you want a motor with bottom and top get a pv cheetah. The cubs are pretty much a mid to top setup. They do have bottom but because the mid to top is so great it seems like they don't have bottom.
  10. Yep, that's probably what those orings are for.
  11. Yeah I know that. But since Bell's book they have made advances in some areas. One big thing is almost all motors are water cooled now. Plus I'm not just looking to port banshees.
  12. Hey guys. I'm looking for some good books on two stroke porting. I already have Bell's book so I'm looking for some others. Hopefully maybe something a little more modern then 70's bikes lol. Also maybe a cheap porting program just to kind of get started with.
  13. Check your float heights, check and make sure your slides are opening 100%, check for air leaks, go up a size or two on the mains.
  14. Just unplug the control box for now.
  15. What's your jetting? Do you have pipes?
  16. Never mind. I guess we were posting at the same time. I may be wrong but I would ask other guys around you what they are running for pilots
  17. What brand compression tester are you using? Those are 21cc 4mil domes right? With my Craftsman tester I was around 168 with 21cc 4mil domes. Also you didn't say if you had 48 or 58 pilots
  18. Do you have a 58 or a 48 pilot? If its 58 that seems really big to me. I'm running a similar setup with 48/158 on 35 PWKs
  19. Just give one of the site sponsors a call and they will sell you what you need not a bunch of crap you don't. If I were you I would order a couple different size mains so you have them to adjust if need be.
  20. Probably about a 340 main, 27.5 pilot, middle clip, 1.5 turns out on the air screw
  21. How much are you looking to spend? What kind of riding do you do? Get a timing plate and set it at +4, shave your head or get a cool head with some smaller domes, a set of 28 PWK carbs, porting.
  22. I was just using that as an example to think about it this in a different sense. I wasn't really trying to show the amount of flow but the way it flows. The smaller hose is going to have a more even flow to it then the bigger hose with a half opened valve.
  23. The guys over at TSS have some really cool stuff. They have really been doing their homework too. If anyone hasn't checked them out before goto the two stroke shop and look at their 500cc motor. They are doing a lot with crank positions, ignition, intakes, head designs, all kinds of stuff.
  24. Like RZ said, it all comes down to setup. Bad setup=bad performance. As afr as the "piping" goes you have to look at not just the opening of the slide but the size of the hole before and after the slide. Ok, think about this, if you have two water hoses, one is 1" and one is 2" with a valve only opened to 1" and the water pressure is the same to both, which is going to flow more evenly? The water would be flowing to the valve, stopping and being squeezed down then open back up to a larger hose again.
