  1. well i definatly have a better insight of what going on now. thanks guys. ill get to it when im back from vacation and post up the results of everything mentioned above. first off ive got some 22cc domes from a buddy to borrow just for testing purposes. more or less shits and giggles. then moving one to tuning in my domes. thanks again. great help here.
  2. ive seen a few cases where the wires that run to the cdi along the aibox will melt on the pipes. check that for a start.
  3. so ive got a good idea of what it is just want to know exactly what causes it. for instance, everyone has concluded that my plugs are backing out from detonation. all i have done is put a cool head on since stock and it never has happend before that. is it from the compression change? went from 110 to 150. also can reeds cause this? it ran rich before but seems lean now. running 93 octane 300 mains, 30 pilots, middle clip, at about 600 elevation. looking for a better explenation. thanks.
  4. you will also need to get the wrist pin bearings seperate. they will come with a crank if you decide that route. have the crank checked if your pulling it out anyways.
  5. if its stock it not really worth it. it would be cheaper to find a good used one on here. they are easy to find pretty cheap with low hours. good luck.
  6. how long have you been running the plug? could be just old. also how old is the top end? i had knocking from piston slap. they looked great but just wore out and was way beyond tolerence. with the top end off see how freely the crank moves with no roughness and how much play the bearings have.
  7. i know they didnt fall out because i had to get my wallet out of the bag. when we came out it was all gone. shitty luck i guess.
  8. as luck had it we picked one of the shitholes that dont believe in technology. i do know alot of people in the area so the word is out. they better hope they dont talk about it!!!
  9. on the way home from a great day of riding, we stopped at a gas station for some beer and some son of a bitch stole all of our gear out of the trailer while we were inside!!! fuckers!!!
  10. if anything i would weld the hole shut rather than flipping the stem. just one more spot for trouble.
  11. you also want tu use the acid flux made for it. it will stick a hell of lot better with the combo.
  12. ill check it as soon as i get back into town. what should it be at normally? or range?
  13. to be honest i have no idea how to check the squish so i will have to look into that. base gasket is just a standard gasket made by cometic. orings seem to be fine. made sure everything was set very carefully before torqued down. im thinking compression.
  14. i use a wrench for the plugs. i changed them out on the trail today and they look golden brown.
  15. im just running the standard br8es plug. what are the main causes for detonation? the only thing ive changed for this problem is the cool head. jetting was always pretty rich with the stock head. im pretty set on going to 22 cc domes and get it closer to stock compression. fly wheel key is also fine. checked that for another problem i had.
  16. dome are 20cc with +4 timing. looking to go with 22cc soon. working out the kinks from the winter build is getting on my nerves lately. lol.
  17. i havnt done a "plug chop". never have. allways went by the colot of the ceramic. i have no idea what the squish band is at either. i would asume stock with stock stroke crank and pistons. compression is a 150 psi which seems it should be fine for 93 octane. if not ill get another set of domes to lower it.
  18. i was thinking maybe the threads also. crank only has about 4 tanks on it so i wouldnt think that. also it never did this with the stock head. only since the cool head was installed. maybe compression change? went up 40 psi
  19. im gonna change the rear sprocket back to the old one and see what happens with that. i dont know what the hell it would be.
  20. all mods are in my sig. jetting is 300 mains, 30 pilots, stock needle position, running 93 octane with 150 psi compression. the elevations is between 500 to 1000. plugs burning golden brown. its the 96.
  21. what causes the plugs to back out? i locked them so tight i was worried about stipping the domes out. does anyone use locktite on them? im gonna get the bracket that holds them both but just wanted to know.
  22. i found where it says to click on the option button in the post but all that does is send me to the bottom of the page. oh well i get it sooner or later.
  23. deleted everything in there and still have the problem. thanks though.
  24. yes they are all installed and spinning freely. its just a stupid damn problem too. never seen it or had it happen with a new setup.
  25. how do you chang the viewing to see all the posts? ive seen the thread before but ill be damned if i cant find it.
