If its been awhile since you have cleaned the carbs, your pilots could be gummed up. Since you are going to be putting the TORS kit on, might as well do a full blown clean on them. Good luck!

I agree. If your tuning in super cold weather and it ran good in the warmer weather, I bet it wouldnt hurt to try a richer pilot for the cold temp.

What aftermarket intake to go with vforce 3's?
gentner8 replied to gentner8's topic in Banshee Repairs and Mods
I wasnt't refering to the finish, but more how its made. The transfer port on the WK is tiny compared to the one pictured above, not that that matters. The Boss one just looks like a beefier unit. Makes no diff to me as long as this intake gets my carbs straight and off of my clutch arm. Im just whining again, because its still a nice product over the stock boots that I have on it now. BTW, did you take yours apart and put sealer on it, or should I trust in the O ring? -
It was DEFINITELY THE SPARK PLUGS
gentner8 replied to Skip2 MyLou's topic in Banshee Repairs and Mods
Sorry bro, but thats just like saying you didnt know windshield wipers or brake pads weren't covered by warranty on your car. You were plain and simple trying to get something for free and lost. Its pretty much a universal rule. If you have a 2 stroke, you keep extra spark plugs on hand. Lesson learned I hope. -
What aftermarket intake to go with vforce 3's?

I did get the ones from White Knuckle. My experience with the company didnt go too well. It took almost 3 weeks to get my order, and they refused to reply to any emails. When the order did arrive I got my pingel, and a brake line I didn't order, but no intake. I called again and the owner overnighted me an intake and let me keep the brake line. So it ended well. However, after getting it and comparing it to the pix above. The Boss racing looks like it is a much better quality unit. -
I thought it was tighten till they smoke, then back em off 1/4?

How to hook up the Dyna DFS? I have no paperwork!

Sorry, I thought the kit that I bought came with the nology hotwires. I was asking if the hotwires basically had the final say in the power delivery on the ignition circuit since it was last in line. In other words, it wouldn't matter what the ignition did as far as power output since it was only charging the capacitor in the wires which would kick the spark when fully charged. Long story short....doesn't matter. I received NGK wires with the kit (which I would rather have I think...) -
I just bought the set the I posted. Many thanks for the input fellas!

How cold are you talking? I would venture to say a step or maybe 2 up on the main jet, depending on your temp and elevation. Maybe lower the clip (raising the needle) one notch if needed and fine tune with the air screw. Hopefully you can get away with the same pilot and just adjust the air screw since you dont spend a lot of time at less then 1/4 throttle. Just a ball park guess since I dont know your riding conditions.
-
You could probably back it down one notch and pick up a bit of power, but your definately in the safe range off of what your describing. This only happens at full throttle, right?
-
Thanks. I think I will go with that kit then since it seems to be decent. As far as seven years with duning....doesnt sand tear your chains up? I need to get out there one of these days!

I thought I also needed a top end rebuild, but a compression test said otherwise. I spend a couple of bux getting a tester from sears or somewhere and just test it. Then it will remove all doubts and questions. But if its a 99 and its never been done, Im gonna guess it is probably due if you have got a few hours on her. Good Luck!!!! Sorry, didn't mean to quote that. Just wanted to add a general reply!

I was just going to get this setup from ebay. It seems like it would be durable. Thoughts? http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/RK-ATV-CHAI...p3286.m20.l1116 Since I got the bike I have been doing nothing but buy parts to get it right again. When I got it home from picking it up, I noticed the seller did not take as good of care of it as he claimed. Come to think of it, he may have never even heard of maintenance. So now I am just trying to make sure the bike is solid and safe. A few upgrades have snuck past the wife tho.... :ninja: So I was just going to go with the stock sizes until I get some time on it. Then I can make further changes to suit me.

Dude, your gonna need a fred flintstone wheel to make that puppy hookup. That is just sick! Keep us posted on how the project goes!!

have somebody put a weld on them to close them correctly. I wouldnt try jb weld because I think it wouldnt last. just my .02
-
Wouldn't this cut down on the overall cooling efficiency? I would think it would be too restrictive.

Has anybody here tried the colored chain kits from ebay? Do they last, or at least decent quality? Are they hard to keep clean and looking good? Otherwise, Im looking for some ideas for a new setup for woods and dirt riding. I dont want to spend a fortune, but I dont want junk. Are the xrings any good? ~Jay

I was almost home when I tried to stretch it too hard.....ripped the corner. Im so mad, I can hardly drink this beer. I just hope the wife can make it look decent enough to salvage since its just a seam tear. ::

What kind of air stapler and what size staples? I have a stapler that I use for subfloors, but the staples would be way too long.
-
Im just wondering what kind of staple gun to use and what the basic procedure is. Ive never done one before and I dont want to F it up.
-
Have you checked your second set of plugs? What do/did they look like? I would put the pods back on if they worked well before. Putting the airbox on has made it run rich. Thats why it ran a bit better when you took the lid off. That would be my best guess for a start. Make sure you dont have any air leaks that may have been missed. I just noticed your part about the revving. Did you disassemble and clean the carbs after modding them? I wonder if there is some crap in them?

1st Banshee. Need some help Please.
gentner8 replied to boogerdawg's topic in Banshee Repairs and Mods
I would venture to say soak the carbs to get all the venturies clean. Many people use guitar string to clean the tight spots. Either the pilot circuit is cloged and or the choke is not working. OR your low on compression. Get a compression tester and check her out. -
Do a compression test
-
If the carbs check out, look for an air leak somwhere, maybe even a crank seal has started leaking. Just a thought.
