Luckily it was the reeds after all. The one side wasnt seating all the way, got it to seat good and shee runs great.

Heading to Winchester Bay next week. We will be there from the 27th to the 30th at Discovery Point. Hopefully I can figure what is wrong with the shee by then. Time is running short, and I dont want to spend the whole trip working on a bike. Pray for good weather, cause I know the beer will be cold...

CPW are really easy to work with. I bought the bike and it had the carbs on it already, called them and asked them a few questions and they were happy to help out. You will find that the float design on these carbs is not the best, but for the price you cant go wrong.
-
OK, I just got done swapping carbs around and the problem was still there on the left side. I am beginning to think crankcase seal, but the oil smells like the two stroke mix, not crankcase oil. Pulled out the reeds and they seem fine. No cracks, chips or anything. I am at a rock and a hard spot. Wait, I am here looking at my reeds right now, and it seems like oneside doesnt seat all the way. Hopefully this is my problem, being that we are supposed to go on a four day trip to Winchester Bay. That would explain too much fuel in the combustion chamber. I will let you now how it goes, and in the mean time I'm keeping my fingers crossed.

I am having a little trouble here. I just got some T5's and put them on. Shee started up no problem and was idleing fine. As soon as I give her some throttle the left side seems to fire every other stroke. I have switched the wires around, changed plugs, checked pickup coil clearance, compression test (184 right, 182 left), cleaned carbs and jets, and checked float height. When I pull the plugs the right side looks fine, but the left is wet. I put my hand at the back of the exhaust, and it turns oily on the left side. Keep in mind this is only when I give it throttle. I have the 30mm oko carbs with a 158 main and a 50 pilot with the needle on the third clip. I have done a search, but it seems that everyone of them leads to a try this or that and noone ever repies back to what their problem was. Thanks in advance for the help.

I saw those as well and almost told him he was wrong, but was on the go so didnt get to it.

The wording just threw me for a loop. I had a vision of a Toyota pulling a 20,000 lb trailer, well that open box frame would have never took it.
-
No offense, but who pulls 20,000 lbs with a 1/2 ton truck. My bro just bought a new tundra with the bigger engine and that thing screams. Me, I just went for the best deal and ended up with a 7.3 ford powerstroke.

At 170lbs compression, I would run only race gas. Just my $0.02

Wet white plug??? What are your pilots?

New fmf exhaust rubs my radiator hose!
tnr replied to banshee_guy_05's topic in Jetting & Exhaust Forum
Your stock radiator hose is formed in a certain shape. All you have to do is loosen the clamps and turn the hose around until you get the best fit. Make sure you do both clamps on the particular hose so you wont get any kinks. -
Definetly T3's. I have some T4's and T5's. Just got the T5's and havent run them yet, but when I do I will let you know the difference between them.

Last week I was looking thru craigslist and a guy had some T5's for sale. He didnt have the silencers for them, but had the stingers, stainless front hanger, polished cascade exhaust clamps, and pipe bodies (obviously). He wanted $200 for them, so I offered him $175 and now they are mine. My question is, do you think I may have to rejet a bit because of the different pipe. I found a graph showing the power curves on both pipes, but wont let me upload it. I found it on toomeys sight on their T5 more info. I ordered some silencers from Toomey and when those get in I will have some T4's for sale. Thanks for your help in advance.

A bunch of friends owned shees and were always going to Winchester Bay. One trip I really wanted to go , so I borrowed a friends grizzly 660 and took it out. I had a blast, even on a tank. I rode a couple of the banshees and knew I needed to get one. One of the guys that would go on these trips ended up buying a YFZ450. He was always having trouble with his shee, but when it was running it was strong. He was going to sell the shee in the spring, fixit, and make a little more money on the deal. I told him that I would take it off his hands and that I would fix it. Best thing I could have done. Ended up rebuilding the top end, the bike was on the stock bore. The way the bike sits in the sig is the way I got it. I did the portwork, flywheel lightened, pistons, and reeds. Bought the bike for $2000, put another $570 in it and it runs strong. I am glad I got one that needed some help, otherwise I would have never known this site existed. Thanks for all your help.

I actually live in Vancouver, but work in Portland. I have my own heating and cooling business, so I am all over the place. My wife works downtown on NW 23rd, so I am sure we could work something out. I got your number, so I will give you a call tomorrow and set something up. Thanks, Tim
-
Sorry I didnt get back to you earlier, I had a service call I had to take care of. If you still have them, let me know. I can always pick them up and give you cash in hand. Thanks, Tim

Still have the rear hubs? If you do I will take them.
-
Anybody know about these signature series??? I cant find anything about them..
-
Thanks for your help. If the compression is OK I am going to get that bike tonight. That will get the wife off my back about spending too much money on the banshee, for now anyhow.
-
A buddy of mine gave me a older set of FMF Gold Series with a Don Emri (I think) Signature on them. Anyone have any info on these pipes??? Thanks for your help.
-
That is the way to describe the noise for sure. Thanks..

I know this is not a blaster site, but you have helped me with my banshee and I am hoping someone here knows about the blaster. Anyhow, I am looking at this Blaster for my wife, but the engine makes a knocking noise at idle. You can definately hear it over anything else when the bike is running. I was told this was a "normal" noise for the Blaster. I am going back over to look at it tonight and get a compression test done. So my two questions are, is this noise normal, and what should I be approx. looking at for compresion on a stock blaster? Thanks in advance for your help..

Twist, turn, twist, turn. I know when I put my pipes back on after a top end rebuild I adjusted the radiator hose a little to accomodate the pipes. I had no coolant in the bike at the time, but it was a breeze to do. You may be able to loosen the hose clamps and turn the hose to gain some much needed room w/o loosing coolant. Hopefully this helps and gets you up and running..
