I shipped a motor last month, just put down some 4 inch insulation foam from home depot, then put the motor on it. then made some rolls of bubble wrap for the sides, covered with another peice of foam, and some crumpled news paper to make it tight..... FedEx for $42

you don't have to go to the BLM for the sticker, there are quite a few gas stations that sell them in town. what ever you do don't go to the atv shops or the DMV, they run you in circles and won't have any clue what you are talking about.

yeah, in the ring groove there is a small pin looking thing, your ring gap should close in on both sides of that.

I would just go with the trakkers... they aren't the best option, but if you don't want to pony up any money, they are better than the masters.

well it's not exactly a few extra bucks. you can get a stock stroke crank pistons and seals and gaskets for like 500ish probably less. won't need new carbs or anything else to keep it running well you go 4 mil you are looking at around 730 for the crank pistons cool head domes, then another 300 for a port to match the stroke, then your stock carbs will maybe sufice, but you'll probably want bigger... so thats like 1300 bones right there. make sure you can afford it before you jump into the water.

don't let it get you down... there is plenty of time, and plenty of used cranks on fleebay. rebuilding the bottom, seems tough, but it's not nearly as bad as it looks.

yeah i agree with him, make sure the half circle cut out in towards the rear of the carb on both sides.

piston notching was very common back in the day, in fact alexander Graham Bells book two stroke tuning mentions it a bunch of times, it has draw backs though like changing the integrity of the piston, could cause a grenade. i would just go with a reputable builder.

water pump with side cover should be there within a day or two.

yeah little sahara is about 4 1/2 or 5 hours north of vegas, it will be up in the upper 90's lower 100's during the day, but it's survivable.
