sorry man, my bad, i assumed you meant a temp gauge, my bad. I don't know how well a thermostat would work though it is an interesting thought, but the only reason you would really need to restrict flow would be to warm it up, and honestly it only really takes a couple minutes to do that, so i don't know if it would really benefit you much more than warming it up quicker.
-
if you mean thermometer yes... a thermostat would imply that you want to use it to control the temp.... there is a really ghetto temp gauge install on dunereview.com using a meat thermometer or you can go with something a little more high tech like this http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/GAUGE-YFZ-T...sspagenameZWDVW which is what i had on mine. it worked good and looked good. it just wasn't real convenient trying to check temp while riding....

for the most part all they are good for is to help the carb clear the clutch arm... two performance comments usually made about them are that they increase the track distance from the reed to the intake ports and this increases velocity, the second performance suggestion is that it increases the volume of air fuel mixture thus allowing more into the cylinder for the compression stroke...

Shipping a bottom end. Who to ship through?
Duneman101 replied to PSYKO's topic in General Banshee Discussion
Yeah i sent one DHL not to long ago for $44 from Utah to Iowa.... Just keep the box size down as much as possible... i put it in a rubbermaid box lined with 3 inch thick styro foam on the bottom and sides then a shitload crumpled news paper all around and another styro foam for the top then drill holes all the way around the lid and zip tied it. -
yeah what this guy says... PB was made by god so he could get his nuts loose.... i was just in the same situation and i bought some PB gave it a squirt let it sit 20 min, gave another squirt and another 20 min, then gave one more squirt and it cam right off with a pipe wrench.

how do i remove the shift shaft seal?
Duneman101 replied to Duneman101's topic in Banshee Repairs and Mods
can i just grab it with a pair of dykes and rip it out or do i need to force it out from the inside of the case? I really pryed good with the screw driver. I though about putting a bolt threw it threading a nut and i think i can get some leverage that way.... -
I did a search and couldn't find anything, and the clymers manual might as well be toilet paper. I am in the process of rebuilding the bottom end, and i have all new seals, so i might as well replace all that i can while i am in there, but i can't seem to get the shift shaft seal out, nicely. do i pop it into the case or out of the case, i tried picking it out both ways with a screw driver, but i don't want to cave man it if until i know which way to go.....

I think he ought to give it a shot... just cleaning up casting flaws and port match the cast to the sleeve it going to see some difference.... if no new people learn to port and leave it all to the big builders no one will be left when they retire.

Need Some Help From Felow HQers
Duneman101 replied to 350BANSHEE350's topic in General Banshee Discussion
the canadian exchange rate is like 1.07CA to 1USD right now... just pay with a credit card(or anything visa related) and the credit card company will give you a much better exchange rate than what they were offering.... I think for the most part you just gotta deal with the shipping rate though unless you have friends in the US -
wish i could, but the bansh ain't gonna be finished by then... you gonna go out again before the end of the year?

my biggest atv pet peeve is when i am still drunk at camp and sleeping and at like 6 in the F@#$ING morning a whole squadron of blaster kids, warriors and EX's decide to start doing wheelies and donuts and feel like it's ok to right by my tent where my head is...... I could kill them and the little pricks on the pit bikes that will roll right through my camp and not care... another pet peeve is the A$$holes at the dunes that come to my camp to party and walk straight over to my bike, sit on it and start trying to pull a wheelies when it's not running, then they start up with the bragging about their moms prarie that does 85 and their blaster that ate two whole banshee's for breakfast yesterday, because they custom ported the airbox.

Transporting upright in truck bed?
Duneman101 replied to bonzai272's topic in General Banshee Discussion
instead of putting on up on it's A$$, turn it side ways so that the front tires sit on the bed rail (make sure to put some towels or something so you don't scratch it all up or get a diamond plate bed rail cap.) then you can either put the predator in facing the opposite direction or you can just leave the tail gate down and let it ride on all four. this works in my ford bed with a 250r and a shee, so it should work with a predator and a shee... it takes some muscle though... a trailor is a good idea too.... -
i will second that... the sand tires tend to be lighter as well and help to reduce drag.... i roll with either the smoothies or mohawks and i love em.... they really float well

real nice, i have always wanted to paint my fenders but never really dared to... i am used to working with pretty rigid paint. do you lay down a coat of primer first, before using the gun and clear coat approach? do you know if diner used primer? did you see diners fender in person up close? they look pretty seemless in the pics, did it really turn out that nice and flat? how many coats do you shoot of paint and clear?
