  1. Looks right to me. Did you put them in the carbs to see if they seated correctly, or are you just assuming the spring should have slack?
  2. The only thing I can tell you is to save up your money and wait for an Elka to come up for sale.
  3. I've got a nice set of pwk 28s with k&n pods and outer wears if you want them, let me know.
  4. Yes it will be easier to shift with the trans in motion. Check to be sure your shift shaft is adjusted correctly also.
  5. In order to recoupe some of your money, you'd probably be better off parting it out. Theres no way in hell you'll get 5 grand out of that. Its a nice bike, but your probably closer to $3500.
  6. Whats the difference between the BR8ES, BR8EG, BP8ES, etc...?
  7. Yep, contact Borrink and get a set of R2s if you want some Rockets. I'm not sure how a set of Rockets would compare to T5s on a stock motor, but on a ported motor, the Rockets blew the T5s away. I switched from a set of FMF Fattys to T5s because of all the rage at the time and didn't like them. I'm sure the T5s are a good pipe, but I liked the FMFs better. The Fattys seemed like they pulled harder in the mid and came on alot sooner than the T5s. Plus the chrome on the T5s I had was kinda shitty and the mounting tabs on both pipes broke off. I'm just not a huge fan of the T5s! For a good all around pipe, try out some Pro Circuit Platinums.
  8. I'm running a Magnum from FAST and it seems to be holding up well. There isn't any grooving or excessive wear. One thing I did notice though is that the cushions seem like they are wearing out a little too fast. I'm not sure what would cause this, but its sure happening. With the luck I have with motors, its probably an isolated incident and noone else will ever have it happen to them!
  9. No, you gave a jackass response. You said that the guys who run -1 swingers should be racing blasters and kids quads, etc. Then you went into this whole big "if I were running a -1" rant. Seems like you are the one who can't accept others opinons.
  10. Congrats! That hill looked like they took very good care of it.
  11. DAM Radar! Your pitbike sounds like it would probalby out run my banshee! I say we setup for some hill drags on the big dunes. That would be more fun for the guys that are mildly built anyway!
  12. Racing will be ok I guess, I want to see some high flyin dune jumping! Plus playing follow the leader in the trails at night is funnest thing to do down there!
  13. The reed spacers don't do anything for performance. You need 4 total for your setup without the reed spacers. 1 between the cylinders and the reeds, and 1 between the reeds and carb boots.
  14. I run the original Rockets as well. I absolutely love them. I've had them on two different motors now, dune ported 4mil and now a drag ported 10mil cub. The low end on them is better than the T5s and they pull their guts out on top. The old Rockets have a chrome finish that is second to none. I don't know anyone with the new R2s with chrome, maybe someone will chime in about the quality. I think the new R2s lack a little on the bottom compared to the originals, but are supposed to rev a few hundred RPMs higher.
  15. One gasket between all the metal surfaces. So 1 between cylinders and reed spacers, 1 between reed spacers and reeds and 1 between reeds and carb boots. Unless your using the reed spacers to gain clearance for the carbs, ditch them. Thats just another possible place for an air leak.
  16. This trip is going to be fun. Tyler will be smashed on Jack, and Spurdy will be smashed on anything he get his hands on! Is anyone going to bring some little wheelers or pit bikes down? I'll bring the lt80 if you guys are bringing something similiar.
  17. You'll probabaly gain a little on the top with some 33s or 35s. I ran that same motor with some 35s and t5s, then switched to some Rockets. The Rockets made a hell of a difference over the T5s. I would save your money on the carbs and switch to some CPIs or Rockets.
  18. Yep, inner and outer hubs are too cheap to buy used. www.farmandsandtoys.com will have them in stock.
  19. Boring your cylinders aren't going to net you much power. If your going to build a stock cylinder motor, a ported 4mil is the way to do it correctly. You shouldn't bore your motor any more than you have to. What type of riding are you doing, drag, mx, trails, dunes etc?
  20. The -1 swinger is for some and not for others. To say that its for guys racing blasters and 250s is just ignorant! I just switched from a -1 to a +6 and I hate it. It feels like I'm driving a dam bus around. It helps keep the front end down, but that is on the only positive thing about it. Trail riding sucks, turning sucks, jumping sucks and overall handling sucks. If you plan on trail riding at all, I personally wouldn't go with anything longer than a +4. With the motor your building, I wouldn't hesitate at all to try a -1. Once you get the hang of riding a -1, you'll never go back. I was forced into a longer swinger due to a crazy ass new motor.
  21. I'm running a DID lockup cover and AC propegs. Everything fits just fine, you'll just have to bend the brake lever out a little bit.
  22. Hahah, sweet.
  23. Sounds like you got pretty dam lucky! We are always dodging wildlife around here. Glad your not hurt.
