  1. First off, welcome to the HQ kpick. This is a great place and there is alot of useful information here. According to the owners manuel break-in is 20 hours and is as follows: 0-10 hours: Avoid continuous operation above half throttle. Allow a cooling off period of five to ten minutes after every hour of operation. Vary the speed of the machine from time to time. Do not operate it at one set throttle position. 10-20 hours: Avoid prolonged operation above 3/4 throttle. Rev the machine freely through the gears but do not use full throttle at any time. After break-in: Avoid prolonged full throttle operation. Vary speeds occasionally. However, there are lots of different opinions on break-in. Myself, I did both steps but over a period of about 4 or 5 tanks of fuel... not sure if it was 20 hours or not. I've never run T-6's, but I hear they are good. Someone else that has some may input on them. As far as just pipes and leaving it at that, good luck... that's hard to do once you get the sickness! lol
  2. lol, I guess I'm kinda plain. My ritual is turn the key on, pull the choke, two pumps on the throttle, slowly kick two or three times to prime the cylinders..... then a couple hard kicks gets her poppin'!
  3. What kind of fuel are you running with those 19cc domes?
  4. I just took this pic. It's a stock set-up with everything in place. If your Shee didn't have a chain adjustment when you bought it make sure that nothing else is missing also. Hope this helps.
  5. Yes, you should get that Raptor. Like the other guys are saying, with just a little bit of work you could turn a good profit with selling it. I know around where I live you don't see one of those for sale for less than 5 thousand. They are popular quads, and you shouldn't have a problem making a quick sale.
  6. I'm happy with mine, I got a noticeable boost in low and mid-range power. Depending on your elevation on the fuel question with 20cc domes. I am around sea level and I run premium pump gas with 21cc domes.
  7. Yes, to my knowledge the engine and transmissions on them are basically the same as the introduction models. (all years)
  8. Sorry, I was still typing my reply while you made your last post. I can understand why your upset with them.
  9. What kind of terrain do you ride in, MJ? I've been thinking about getting some of those in the future, and I've heard good things and bad about them. I ride in different stuff (sand, hard pack, a little pavement) I also wonder if it was a bad set that you got, but my money's on a budget for a while and if I get a set I won't be able to replace them too soon. Just wondering if there's a specific terrain that may wear them down prematurely.
  10. Well congrats on your new Shee, you will definitely have alot of fun on it. Theres nothing else like a 2-stroke powerband! This is a great place for lots of info on them too.
  11. I don't think you'll regret it. Is this your first Banshee?
  12. Yeah it was just a Dirt Wheels magazine April fools hoax a couple years back. This year they had a high performance Honda four-stroke 250R in Aprils edition.
  13. I agree, I've done business with David and he was very helpful with my questions on the Noss-head. He explained what size domes I needed with my elevation and fuel preference and got the parts to me quickly. He's a great guy and awesome to do business with!
  14. Just took this pic, hope the numbers are visible enough.
  15. Someone should have a diagram on here. If not I can probably take a picture of my stock head and post it up. The order is stamped on it.
  16. Ha Ha, the saying is true: "You can find ANYTHING on the internet!" lol
  17. My wife quit about three years ago, she had a time with it at first but she ended up quitting all together. I remember that she cut back some as you described, just one every now and then. Then, after a few weeks went cold turkey. I don't smoke, but have a bad habit of dipping. I need to quit copenhagen, been doing it so long now that it'll be hard for me to quit.
  18. That Shee looks good, I don't know what it is about that original color scheme but I like it the best of all. When I got mine I didn't have the choice of the red and white, but that's what I would have got if I could. Now don't get me wrong, I love mine and the blue looks good also..... but I am partial to the original colors. I thought about maybe getting some plastic's, but there'd be too much powdercoating involved. ( frame, a-arms, swing-arm.) By the time I got done I'd have a fortune in it. Not to mention seat cover and headlight housings.
  19. I've also seen that model chart on Yamaha's website, but the '87 depicted looks just like the '96 shown. I remember when the Banshee first came out, and I remember them being red and white with a red frame and red seat. The headlight housings were white. Maybe there was an '87 with the colors depicted on the chart, but I don't recall seeing one like that. Now the '88 on there looks accurate.
  20. I pass through that town when visiting my sister and nephew in Eustis. What did you have in mind for the bike, repair or parting out? (nevermind, missed the sentence under the link)
  21. What did you use to polish them?
  22. I don't know, I have to admit that I like the Fatty's pretty good. My Shee was stock when I bought it, and after installing the Fatty pipes, K&N and jetting I noticed a really nice increase in power. I was pretty happy with the upgrade over the stock pipes. Like Hilarious said, your brother-in-laws Shee may not be tuned right.
  23. Well I guess that will work out pretty good, having not initially given a reason for being out. Your fortunate in that aspect, when I call in my job grills me about every last detail about why I'm not going to be in! Had that been me I would have been busted for sure! lol
  24. Sorry to hear about your foot getting hurt. Can you move around on it well enough to get by at work without having to explain too many details?
