  1. Sorry about your crash, man.... hope you have a quick recovery. Front brakes are definitely important on a Banshee!
  2. One thing about it, if any new machine they came out with were to attempt to carry the Banshee name, it would have to be off the map! The Banshee is a legend in it's own time, and one of the things that makes it special is that it is unique and very different than anything else out there. It's name and what it stands for in the world of a.t.v.'s would make it extremely hard for anything new to try to fill those shoes!
  3. I'm no puss, bud..... you suggesting I am? I bought my Raptor as a second quad for trailriding, and I like it alot. Doesn't replace my Shee by any means, but just because I also own a 4-stroke doesn't make me a pussy.
  4. Well, I would take a look at the air filter and see what it looks like. How dirty it looks could be a tell-tale sign of neglected maintenance. Also the case, make sure there are no cracks, maybe from a broken chain. As for the difference in 2 and 4 strokes, there is quite a bit. The smoker makes less torque, but makes up for it in mid and top end power. There are quite a bit of aftermarket upgrades to give it more bottom-end power, however. It really comes down to personnel preference though. there is definitely nothing else like the rush of a screaming 2-stroke coming on the pipe! As far as mixing, I just put 3.2 gallons of gas in a can and add a bottle of oil. (yamalube 2r at 24/1 ratio) Most go with 32/1, but I run factory recommended just to be on the safe side. Maybe a little too rich.
  5. Are you replying to me or to Chase?

HAHA That little Johnny's a character! lol, good one!
  7. Happy Easter, everyone. Hope everybody has a great day!
  8. The 700 is fuel injected, and doesn't have a choke. That was a good deal on it if it was a 700. When I get through paying mine off I will have over 9 thousand in it.......bone stock! (it's the GYTR edition) I bought it for riding trails, I plan on keeping it stock and doing all the mods to my Shee. Next on the list, PORTING! (when I get the money saved up, that is!) I'm trying to get some of this stuff payed down some to keep from getting in over my head!
  9. Yeah i've got a 700, thing pulls like a freight train through the trails. Also with the shocks it's got you just about can't bottom it out...... glides through whoops like a magic carpet!
  10. Same here, it's next to impossible for me to get off on a weekday.
  11. I hear ya about the heat, it's already starting to get hot. I was sweating last weekend when I was out riding!
  12. Well, it sounds like the ball is rolling on this. It's up to you guys on the day and location, as long as I know a little in advance i'm definitely in. It would be great to go riding with a group of banshee's (never done that!) and fellow HQ members. Sounds like some may need a few weeks, which would also give time to spread the word for people to hear about the event.
  13. I'm in ! You guys pick a day and location and i'll make sure to ask off from work in advance. Any more Florida HQ members out there? Sounds like it would be an awesome event!
  14. I'd like to this coming weekend, but not sure if I have to work or not. With my job I seldom know whether they want me to work the weekend or not up until the last minute. I was on vacation this past week and now back to the ol'grindstone. After a couple weeks I can probably put in for a weekend off. I'd like to go again soon though, maybe we can meet up and do some trailriding. Ever go over to Croom in Brookesville? It's a blast out there, too!
  15. I went riding at Big Scrub in Ocala just this past Saturday with my nephew and his girlfriend. At the end of the day, he took a spill in the whoops..... but luckily wasn't hurt. Other than that we had a pretty good time.
  16. One thing about it, if it is truly legal.... then someone definitely jumped through some hoops. I've lived in Florida all my life and never seen one on the road. ( well, legal one's, that is. lol ) If possible at all, it can't be too easy or you would see them on the road everywhere down here.
  17. Those pics bring back good memories to me. An 87 warrior just like that was the first quad I ever rode/owned. That was in 1990. Bought it from my nextdoor neighbor. Knowing me though if I bought that one I would probably be trying to restore it!
  18. I'll check more into that, a thread I read on that was saying tools required included: Feeler gauges Tappit wrench crows foot tool and one or two more that I don't have. Maybe I could get by without some of them. I alternate between the Shee and it so I could put it off for a while if needed.
  19. That's the kind of deal that my wife and I have been talking about for a while now. Pick up a project quad for a good price, then fix it up little by little as money permits. When done we have an extra quad that a family member or friend can come along on a ride. At the moment money's kinda tight, but that's what we're looking at doing in the future.
  20. Yeah, and one of their biggest arguments is maintenance. They say a 2-stroke is so much higher. I also have a Raptor 700 that is almost at the twenty hour mark on the motor, and needs a valve inspection / adjustment. I lack the specialty tools and knowledge to do it myself, but I just got my wifes car out of the shop so I can't afford to have it done for awhile. Now I'm not complaining about it, it's something that needs to be done. Just saying that both a 2- and 4- stroke have their different points of maintenance.
  21. Bought mine close to the end of 05. I had always wanted a Banshee, and one day my Dirt wheels magazine came in and had an article in it saying that they would no longer be available after the 06 model year. Now, I've grown up riding 2 & 4 strokes,..... but there ain't nothing like a two stroke coming on the pipe, and I knew a twin 2-stroke had to really be wild! My wife was very supportive of me when I found a good deal on one at a dealership. I had never ridden one, but discovered the light switch powerband when I went to drive it through the parking lot to my trailer. Went to take off and I guess it was still a little cold and bogged down a little. After doing this twice I decided to really give it some gas so it would go,...... and boy did it! It stood up and snatched my hands off the bars and I came real close to busting my tail right in the dealership parking lot! I've had it a little over two years now and I'm still crazy about my Shee!
  22. I ordered my pipe kit from them which was supposed to include an adapter with the K&N filter to run an open airbox. I got billed for the adapter but it wasn't in the box of parts. I ended up never even calling them about it because I had decided to go with an E.H.S. lid which I ordered just after the pipe kit order. Otherwise it would have been an issue with me, I would have not been happy!
  23. Thanks, if they work like that then I think I'll look into getting a couple of them.
  24. I am fortunate to have good neigbors on either side of me, and we look out for each other as much as possible. There are alot of good people around where I live, but there are also a couple of drug houses close by, which attract a lot of shady characters at all times of the day & night. I have a few security items. I figured with the disc alarm combined with the other things I have, maybe it would cause enough commotion to scare them off. But you are right, Animalman294. Locks only keep honest people honest. Was that the Xena model, FASTOYS? I've heard there are several different kinds out there, just don't know the brands. Thanks again for the replys, guys.
  25. I let mine idle for three to four minutes, then take off and ride easy until the rpm's rise smooth and crisp. Now keep in mind that's in Fla., Usually in 65 - 100 degree weather, so it may be done differently in colder temps.
