Man dang, I just checked Alba for a factory stator assembly and they want 400 bones for an oem one! I would go with a Ricky Stator for a lot cheaper, but I've heard that they aren't too great. Does anybody know where I could get a new factory one for any cheaper than Alba?

Thanks for the reply, Andrew. So the initial reading is what counts. Well, looks like I'll be changing out the stator and pickup coil. Thanks for the input and information guys.

Yes I read that, and I agree it does have a lot of helpful info in it. When I touch the meter rods to the red and green connectors on the stator plug, my meter reads one and a half ohm, and I have it set at ten times. The electrical article says the reading should be 13.7 to 20.5 for the stator to be good. If I multiply 1.5 by ten it would add up to 15, meaning the stator is good?
-
I appreciate the response Andrew. That's actually the info I was going by when testing, but what I'm uncertain about is if I'm reading the tester correctly. The instructions on the multimeter say to multiply the reading by ten for the final reading. Does multiplying count as the final reading, or does the initial reading on the meter have to be in the range of what the article calls for for it to be good?

Yes the tors are still there. I've been meaning to eliminate them, but haven't gotten around to it yet. They could be causing a problem with it, but I'm wanting to make sure my ignition and pickup coils are working right too.

Hey guys, I'm having some electrical issues with my bike and I'm not real savvy in that department. Bike started running on one cylinder, and now has stopped running all together. It has weak/intermittent spark. I checked the stator and the pickup coil with an analog multimeter. I had it on the ten times setting. The ignition tested at one and a half ohms, the pickup at about nine ohms. I read that the stator should be anywhere from 13.7 to 20.5, with the pickup being in the range of 94 to 140 I think it was. Is my stator or pickup coil bad? Multiplied by ten it would be fifteen on the stator and ninety on the pickup coil. Or am I multiplying when I shouldn't, meaning the stator is bad?

Haha, I was making a joke.. You know, like getting a free post in. I didn't read the whole thread, just the first few pages.

Well i'm not sure who all the top post whores are, but maybe someone can chime in... BOO-YA, +1!!

Oh okay, I gotcha.. sorry about that, I read through the post too fast and was thinking about the back of the truck at the riding area. Yeah I know what you mean, most modern plastic cans these days have a bad spout design. I remember those that had the pleated spout that retracted back into the can, but haven't seen one in the stores around here in a long time.

Eagle is the kind of can I use. They are made of galvanized metal, and are quite sturdy. They come with a hands free, removable funnel that fits tightly to the spout. They are a little pricey, but well worth it imo. The lid is lever activated and spring loaded, so it seals tightly when you let off the handle. Being metal, they are great to store fuel in also. I bought mine at Lowes.

Yes, I installed it that night. I like the update a lot, gave me lots of new features. The ipod still works good on my stereo's. The only slight probs I had at first was there were a few glitches where the ipod would start the music a couple of seconds into the songs from the beginning of the tracks... also my video's and clips from youtube were a little out of sync. The words didn't match the lips of the people talking/singing. I did a quick reboot of the phone and it instantly fixed all those issues. The only other thing is one of my game apps, "Dragons Lair", is unplayable now. The controls don't respond, and there are pauses in between the screens. It worked flawlessly before the software update, however, after checking the ratings page on it, I see a lot of other people having the same issues I am with it after the ios update. So it is a problem with the app, not the iphone software. They will probably have an update on the app soon to fix it and get it running smoothly again. All in all I am very happy with the new software, it added a ton of useful features!

Thanks for the info, ELKA. I'll probably install it this evening. I just wanted to make sure everything was good with the music player, I play it a lot on my stereos. I was scared I'd install the new software and then the stereo would'nt play it or something.... I would've freaked out, lol. Thanks again for the info man, I appreciate it.

Hey guys, I use a 16 gig iPhone 3gs running the 3.1.2 software. I've been thinking about installing the new ios 4.0.1 update, but after a little research I'm having doubts. I've heard about a few tech bugs with it, but what really worries me is a couple of people have said that when they dock their phone to a music player, the iPod feature is no longer compatible with the player. Has anyone here done the update to a 3gs and had any issues with this happening?

banshee running funny with the choke all tha way in
jamebo replied to Bansheeboytrun's topic in Banshee Repairs and Mods
Sounds like your carbs may need cleaning. Pull your carbs one at a time, remove the bowls and check your jets. May have some debri clogging them. My Banshee was just acting similar to what your describing. Wasn't running running right, and kept cutting out on the right cylinder unless I pulled the choke out. I pulled the carb yesterday, and the bowl was clean, but the pilot jet was clogged. I took a can of carb cleaner and sprayed everything out really good (all jets, small holes and passages, float valve), then used compressed air and blew everything out good and reinstalled. It's back to running good now. -

how many psi do you run in your tires for woods riding?
jamebo replied to 00sheerzr's topic in General Banshee Discussion
I run 4 psi, front & rear. -
I run Amsoil Dominator at 32:1 in my KX250. The bottle says to mix at 50:1, but I like to play it safe, lol.
-
If your looking for a little bling with reliability, you could go with a chromed stock shifter. I purchased one off of ebay awhile back and it's working out really well, and looks great.
-
Thanks a lot, guys! I'll be mixing up a tank at that ratio this weekend.
-
Hey guys, I bought a KX250 the other day and the guy I got it from said he was running Amsoil 32:1 in it. So I got a few quarts of the Amsoil Dominator for it. I was thinking about switching from Yamalube to that in my Banshee. I've been running the yamalube at 24:1 like the manual called for (I know, real rich lol), but what would be a good ratio for the Amsoil? The bottle says the mixture should be 50:1, but I did a search on here and it looks like most guys are running it at 40:1. Think it'd be alright to just run at 32:1 for the Banshee? Also, should I expect any changes in the motor/tune switching from Yamalube to a synthetic oil?

I've never ridden a 450r, but my Nephew bought a YFZ last year. I rode it and was impressed with the power, they don't do bad at all even bone stock. I think the power delivery on them is the closest i've seen to a Banshee in any four-stroke i've ridden.. revs really high and quick.

Best place to buy a Compression Gauge?
jamebo replied to KlotzBanshee's topic in General Banshee Discussion
I got one of the Craftsman kits from Sears. Works pretty good, and has several adapters with different lengths with it. I think I paid around seventy bucks for it. -
Yamalube 10w-40, probably once a year or so. I'm not able to ride as often as I'd like, so I don't have many hours going on it regularly. I used to use their 10w-30, but it got hard to find. I think they may have stopped making it.
