anybody know what could be causing this?
-
Well its not a bang pop like a back fire. Just a popping sound both pipes smoke evenly. Do you think it could be jetting. Could it be that the silencers need to be repacked or something.

Ok people yet another question for the experts. As you guys have seen I have been asking a shit load of questions lately. Mostly because I am new to atvs and this is my first banshee and I would rather try to solve problems myself rather then paying the stealership. I bought my roller separate from my motor. Although my roller did come with a motor that wasnt running and carbs. I sold the motor that came with it but kept the carbs because they are in good shape and because the tors was removed from them. I bought a completly rebuilt stock motor from a guy a few hours away from me that starts and runs awesome only 5 tanks thru it. My question is that when I start it up, it starts with one kick every time but when it is idleing it sounds like it is popping. I have never heard a banshee idle before only 4 strokes. Just wondering if this is normal or is my jetting not right. I never messed with the jetting in the carbs just put them on the motor and clamped on my K&N's. The bike idles fine just makes a popping sound. I have only got the bike in 3rd gear before my axle was shifting because I had bad carrier bearings and there was to much play in the axle. I do not want to run the motor without figuring this out because I paid too much money to seize it up from it running lear or something. Sorry for the long post.

Im talking about the big ones on the axle that bansheeman refered to. I went to the dealership today to buy these and they want an arm and leg. I hate going to the dealership half the time they dont have the parts you need and they want you to wait a week for them to order the parts. It pisses me off because If I wanted to wait a week for some nuts and bolts or any other part I would just order them myself and save a boat load of money.

Where is a good place to buy the two stock axle nuts that tighten the axle. I checked ebay but they dont have any new ones and I dont want somebodys used junk ones.

Finally got that bish off the axle. I took off the brake rotar and I had this pipe that I put the axle in but the end of the pipe was to small for the piece that the rotar mounts to go in. I put a piece of wood on the ground so I dint mess my ends up on the axle and started to beat on the pipe with a hammer after a while it stoped moving the sleve. Then I ditched the small hammer and gave it one nice hit with the sledge and it came right off

Got the axle out of the carrier but the sleve is stuck to the axle. One of the bearings poped out when I was hitting it and the axle came out of the carrier. The sleve is stuck to the axle now. Does the sleve slide off of is it threaded? Any idea on how to get this bish off the axle now???

This is my first bike. I doubt that the axle is bent because when I would spin the wheels there was no warp or anything like that in the axle. I have never greased the axle. I just bought this bike as a roller not in the best condition and just put a freshly rebuilt motor in it. The axle has alot of rust and shit like that on it thats why im guessing it is having a hard time coming out. I have read on here alot of people have a hard time getting the axles out of the carriers some people cant get them out and junk them. My question was how much farther does it have to go from when the rear hub grove things are inside the carrier??? By the way yes it is coming out the right direction. Removed axle nuts... removed left hub... removed axle nuts from axle... removed rear sproket... removed the rear brake caliper... Hitting the left side of axle so it comes out the right side of the carrier.

I know I said I was going to do this the other day but I started it today with the help of my brother. Man this is not a fun thing to do. It was hard as hell to get the axle nuts off. The rear sprocket to my surprise slid of with no force just kinda moved it back and forth and walked it off. But then came the not so fun part, removing the axle. I swear I was beasting on this thing to the best of my ability and it still wont come out of the carrier. I took a 4x4 put it up against the axle and beat on this thing with a huge ass monkey wrench. It is almost out all the groves from the rear sproket are inside the carrier so it doesnt have much more to go. I decided when my neighbor gets home im going to go over there and borrow his sludge hammer. Im going to take my 4x4 and put it up against the axle and give it a few nice hits. I hope that works because hitting it with the monkey wrench doesnt seem to want to budge it anymore. I literally (sp) spent all day constantly beating on this thing trying to get it to come out. How much farther does the axle have to go once all the rear sproket grove things are inside the carrier?

So you dont know what pipes they are? Look on the side of them -
No not confused just like it says ANY TIPS OR TRICKS says it right in the topic. Havent really went out to the garage and started to mess with it yet. Yea thats good to here what you would do, the thing is im not you and I already ordered the bearings. Yea I dint know what the hell a zerk was because I dont spend my time at the auto parts strore examining there parts nor do me and my buddies sit around and talk about greaser zerks! Thanks for the helpful tip I will be going out in about a hour to replace these bastards
-
Differentstrokes... When I go to the auto parts store looking for one of these zerks is that the real name for it. Also when I go to remove the axle from the carrier I have to take off one hub correct? No since in removing both if I can pull it straight out without removing the other. Anyways I dont have a hub puller that some guys on here where talking about. What is a good method of removing one of these w/out bending it up. Would a few nice hits with a rubber mallet do the trick?
-
Is there a link to the zerk thing. What size bit do I use to drill it. Is a zerk some type of fitting that goes into the drilled hole. where Do I buy one of these so called zerks LOL what kind of grease do I put in? How much grease. Why do I have to remove the seal you mentioned?
-
I doubt I can get a carrier for $25 that is what I paid for the bearings. Plus I already ordered them.
-
Man that greaser thing sounds confusing. Dont get me wrong sounds like a good idea but im am new to this stuff and probly wount be able to do it unless someone showed me how. For now im just looking to replace the bearings and be done with it.
-
So my axle bearings are shot. I ordered some the other day and they sould be here tomorrow or saturday. From what I have read doing a search these are a pain in the ass to change. Anybody have some tips or tricks to make the process go a little easier?

Mine seems to smoke quite a bit when I first start it but after it warms up It hardly smokes at all.
-
Can you post up some pics of the FMF fattys. How much are you lookin to get for them. Any dents or welds stuff like that???
-
That is exactly what a buddy of mine just said. He said throw about 6oz of some yamalube to what I already mixed to the 5 gallons and it should give me 32.1
-
It started!!!! I must have had the wires switched around. Also I adjusted the lick start some because before I wasnt getting a good kick also had to give it a lil gas before it started up. It was smoking does it do this untill it warms up some.
-
Going out now to check for fuel...
-
So did they dump sand or or some type of liquid in the bike? If sand got into the tranny thats not good. All that sand in going to do is grind the gears and wear them down. If I were you I would flush it. How did you not catch those fuckers I would of chased them untill I at least caught one of them and gave him a good ass beating so he could go back and tell his friends that he got fucked up for doing something stupid.
-
Just went out and checked for spark. I laid a wrench across the cylinders to make shure it was getting a good ground with no paint on it. The right side sparked did the same to the left side and had spark. Both sides sparked. Now what should I do?

Yes it is the black and gold bottle...
