  1. Just like an old V8, if the sumbitch doesn't leak oil it ain't a-gonna run worth a damn... (In my bestest redneckiest voice) I'm assuming that's oil anyway lol.
  2. Good call on the '05 or '06. My opinion though, stay away from the 2-1 carb kit and as far as timing goes, get a billet adjustable timing plate instead of the Woodruff key. The stock carbs will be perfectly fine for anything up to about 65 hp, which will take porting to get to that point, and I recommend Chariot Performance for the timing plate set at +4. You'll find the timing plate on eBay for around $50 shipped and it's super nice and easy to switch over provided the 'shee you get has been decently taken care of, just make sure not to strip any bolts/screws and you'll be fine. Member "RootRacing" also handles a lot of Chariot stuff so you can PM him as well. IMO you'll need a 13 tooth front sprocket, a good set of pipes we talked about above along with rejetting, good skid plates, and nice, durable tires. Other than that there's not much more it takes to turn a stock 'shee into a woods machine without starting in on the moderate stuff such as extended A-arms, better shocks, etc... That's how I built mine at least and I'm extremely happy with it. There's not a single obstacle yet that I haven't been able to get over, through, or around that I needed to and where I ride is mostly 4x4 and rock-climbing trails. One thing we didn't mention is an air filter and adapter kit. The factory foam filter and cage is junk because it tends to let particulates through where the cage meets the airbox. I'm running kind of a cheapo kit from Vito's performance that I paid $40 plus shipping for. It comes with a K&N-style filter, billet aluminum adapter with bolts to fasten to airbox, and pre-filter and will completely take care of the shortcomings of the factory unit.
  3. Can someone post a pic or two of how the rear brake light switch mounts to the frame and how it connects to the rear brake pedal? I'm trying to get mine hooked up on my '97 but I'm gonna have to fab up some sort of bracket to hold the switch I'm sure. Thanks in advance.
  4. I'll sit back and let some others chime in. I'm far from the expert here plus I've got work to do in the garage lol.
  5. Well like I said above, what else do you plan on doing with the engine such as porting, carbs, etc.? This is the part where you wanna kinda plan for future mods with the pipes you get IMO. I ride tight, rough, technical trails and my T5s are plenty for me but I also run a 13t front sprocket with 20" tires. I know the T5s are by far not the optimal pipe for my type of riding but I do plan on porting sometime in the future and my pipes are one less thing I'll have to replace when I get that done. I forgot to add Toomey T6s in there as well, I've heard they have loads of bottom end just like the Pro Circuits do. They look nearly identical.
  6. You're on a pretty darn good one right here lol. What are you looking for? There are many here that part out Banshees by the handful at a time, I'm sure you can find what you're looking for. Pretty much everything I have on mine has came from either here or eBay so there's two starts for you.
  7. Depends on what your other mods will be. Most people will probably say Pro Circuit, PT Mids, or FMFs. IMHO they all have their special place and I would think if you're dedicated to riding any kind of rough trails the gearing would play an equal or bigger part than pipes, of course then there's tire size. A whole other can of worms could be opened there.
  8. For $3500 I'd look for one as new and as stock as possible and build it the way you want it. I've always been paranoid of buying a bike that someone else has done work to. You rarely ever trust work done by someone else especially if they are the one selling it, after all they are there to make money off of it so who's to say that they're being truthful about the work or mods done...
  9. Ive been "digging" around with this too as I'm about the same height but pushing 240 or more. The only problem I have with mine is my PRM swingarm skid that has the lower link protection When I try to climb rutted out hills with any momentum at all the suspension compresses and the V-shaped plate that protects the lower link now is angled quite a bit more parallel to the ground. It then proceeds to act like some kind of shovel or Earth-moving machine ripping up the dirt, bogging me down, and thus killing every last bit of momentum I had putting me in a really bad situation. Enough small talk... TTT for anyone else with more info! Oh and stock swingarm too.
  10. And another one gone, and another one gone, another thread bites the dust!
  11. Looks like some pretty extensive welding going on beside the clutch cover. No leaks or anything?
  12. You mean the bolt pattern is incorrect? I just looked on another site that said '89-90 Banshees were 4/156 on the rear which seems huge for a sport quad to me but that's what it said. Sounds like that is where your problem lies. http://www.mud-throwers.com/atv_wheel_chart
  13. If you had to ask then you already have doubts and you know there's a possibility of it slipping or splitting especially with your mods. Of course this can also happen with a bone stock engine but if it were mine I'd seize the opportunity to make sure everything about the engine is kosher while having your crank sent off, inspected, and welded just for extra insurance. That's just my opinion though.
  14. Like I said, the Banshee shines in terrain just like that so not only would it be ATV heaven, it would be Banshee heaven. Or as close to it as us East coast people can get.
  15. Where would one find a stiffer rear spring?

  16. I've never been to Busco Beach, never even heard of it until your post actually, but after seeing their site I now wanna go very badly. Just a few words, the abilities of the Banshee shine best in the sand IMO. If you're anywhere near that place and can get there on a halfway regular basis you'll surely be more than satisfied with a Banshee in that kind of terrain. Looks like they have a little bit of everything from the pictures, a Banshee would no doubt be 10x more fun there than a 400EX IMO.
  17. Loaded up on percocets, you really did buy it didn't you? LMAO
  18. Are you sure? He told me his last name was Marine, first and middle initial were John Q.. It sounded like a pretty normal American name so I wired the money right away. John Q. Marine, yep that was it I'm sure.
  19. Yamabond 4, Hondabond (some say it's same as the Yamabond), or ThreeBond 1211 or 1194 (what I use) will work. Those are probably the only ones anybody will recommend I would say.
  20. LMAO no no you guys didn't specify that part! He told me he was from Nigeria and the bike was located in Hawaii. I was skeptical at first but he promised everything would go smooth so I wired the money straight to his account. I was just on my way to the airport to hop a flight out to get the bike when I read this...
  21. This is a GUY selling this and these are the demands or "add-ons" you GUYS want? WTF is wrong with you people?
  22. I bought the filter, pre-filter, and adapter kit from them and it's doing really well IMO for the $40 price tag. The only thing I'd change is make the pre-filter an actual "Outerwears" since the one that comes with the kit looks like cheap pantyhose material. Although it does do a good job at keeping stuff out of the filter and ultimately out of my engine I do feel it could be a bit more heavy duty. As for their customer service, I have had great experiences with that as well. One of my orders failed to go through due to an ad-blocker and not only did they send me an email explaining what happened but when I couldn't respond to the email in due time they gave me a phone call as well and made it right with me. IMHO customer service sells more parts and gains more customers than anything else. Everyone has a few hiccups here and there, it's the ones that will make it right with the customer that will be around for a long time when you need them. Vito's is A+ IMO.
  23. I think you just pointed out the answer to all of the problems here. You can't expect any wheel to hold up to riding on 4x4 trails in 4th gear all out and admittedly beating the shit out of your body and bike all while having a pretty bad wreck. If the HiPers hold up then that's all good and stuff but I would think you could also back down a bit on the style of riding. I ride primarily 4x4 stuff too with a ton of rocks and logs all over the place and as I said above I have never even thought about my wheels bending. It may happen on the next ride I go on but I guess after reading this I'm not your typical sport quad rider. I came from that Sportsman down below and you can't haul the mail too much on one of those things or you'll start breaking stuff because it's so heavy. Granted the Banshee is half the weight and twice the power but I think because of that it's holding up extremely well given the fact that I ride the exact same trails as I did on the Sportsman. Unless you've got unlimited funds or a wheel sponsor you guys just need to slow the hell down if you want your stuff to last a while lmao.
