Stellar Performance

Oh Yeah.......she used to fire up on first kick......but now she takes quite a few to get her going. Is this common with running methanol? I wouldn't think so. I double checked my compression to make sure nothing was wrong there, and checked for spark too.......no obvious problems except my lack of knowledge with alcohol.....at least the kind you burn :biggrin:

The Power Jets are adjustable, but I tried them at many different positions. I have always been good at tuning with gas.....but this is driving me nuts.

Okay....here is what I can tell you so far. The Mains have been drilled to .116 The pilots are only 32.5s The needle was set at position 2.

I will measure them....I know I am going to look stupid right now......but what are the dump tubes? Have always messed with Pilots, main, and have played with Adjustable power jets.....but that is it.

I have had some experience with the graydon intakes.....and you can still get alot of power out of them. When I ran mine....I was running a 165 or 170 main with a 55 pilot. Clip set in the middle to start. 2 turns on the air screw. It was on a stock cylinder 4 mm stroke with a nice dune port. She ran killer. Compression was at about 170 or so. So in my opinion....you are way too rich. go spend the 7.00 on a couple of smaller jets like the 165 and start there. You will be very happy once you get her tuned in. :biggrin:

I would llove to get some input here. I am sure that someone has had to have this question before. Anyways....Two weeks ago I took my freshly built 7mm Cub over to glamis and tuned her in on Race gas. Engine consists of 7mm cub with drag port, 20cc domes, vforce3s, billet seperated intakes, 36 pwk's with adjustable power jets....for ease of tuning, PVL set at about +5 degrees advance, Shearer Big Bore out of frames. She ran like a beast....keeping up with a 10mm cub on methanol. My bike is fully lightened....his was srock frame, etc. So Yesturday I took her out to Gordon's Well with some changes. 19cc domes, 38mm mikuni's with Dave Moore power jets and Billet Bowls, Advanced Timing a little More, and ran Methanol. I could not get her to run decent at all.......I mean she ran like crap. Sputtered.....fell on her face......Etc. What am I doing Wrong? Anyone with some decent Methanol Tuning please help. I am screwing up by advancing my timing? Can Someone help with what jets to start with on the mikuni 38's or even on my 36pwk's. PLEASE HELP Thanks, Tim

The only reason I thought the compression would still be up there is due to the larger displacment. I thought that 152 was a little low. But my top end still looks great. No noticable wear at all. What size domes are on your 10mil?

Hey Guys.....I just did a compression test on my 7mil cub with 20cc domes. It made about 152psi on each cylinder. I figures due to displacment and stroke, it would be higher. I am converting to alcohol before the next glamis trip and am wondering what domes to put in. Before I went to the 7mil and cub cylinders, I used to run stock cylinders with a 65.5mm bore, 4mil crank and 17cc domes. I know that then I was pulling around 178 psi per cylinder and that was with race gas. I am not dissapointed in any way with my current setup on race gas......but if I can make more power why not. Any input would help. I am new to larger bore banshees and am new to alcohol. I have always been extremely successful building and tuning my own bikes, but any input is greatly appreciated.

I'm not trying to cause trouble.....I am sure that the trires are still in great shape. I have been wanting to purchase some ultralites to for my 7mil, but I spent way too much money building it. I guess my regular haulers will have to do for now. The $400.00 from John does not include shipping which I know to my place is probably about $30 to $40 dollars more. It would definetly help if he posts some pics though.
