  4. Thanks jared. It must be a mikuni then. it's a little bigger than the 280's but not a lot The quad runs good once in the powerband. It has shitty bottom end though. It runs like it's rich down low but it's got stock pilots in it. and the main jet has nothing to do with the bottom end power does it?

  7. I have 320 main jets for keihin carbs in my stock mikuni carbs. these 320's and my old 280's are the same but the hole is bigger, as expected, on the 320. is a 320 keihin jet the same as a 320 mikuni? or do the holes the fuel flow through size different? thanks
  8. It's prolly running lean now. turn the air screw only 1 turn out. Maybe you won't burn it up then. But do not run it much without a filter. But the old filter may have just been dirty and stopped up. Do both sides smoke now?
  9. So what is it doing without the filter and lid? still not run right after 2nd gear? Oh, do not ride this thing without a filter. Your pretty, new topend will go bye, bye. Do you have a fuel filter on the quad? If your fuel line is long enough, take the filter off and see if it helps. It sounds like it's leaning out. Take off the seat and filter and look at the carb slides through the filter opening. there should be a small gap under each slide if the slides are not in backwards. once your looking at the slides, slowly push the throttle lever and see if both carbs slide up at exactly the same time. I do not recomend riding the machine until you figure out what is making it do what it's doing. If you do and it is leaning out, kiss your top end good bye. possibly the crank too since the oil in the fuel lubricates all of the crank/rod bearings too. Let us know what's going on as of now.
  10. Trust me when I say this. Ditch that piece of shit tors system. TORS T= Take O= Off R=retarded S=Shit Here is a tors elimination kit It will be much easier to adjust the idle and sync the carbs.

I've got a 4-mill, t-5's, K&N with box and lid with holes/filter inserts, boyesen dual stage reeds on stock cages, and stock porting(spacer plate mod). carbs are stock with 320 mains, stock pilots, and 4th needle clip. It has no bottom end until the powerband hits. Then it's scary :cool: . Plugs are black/brown and a little wet. So around what size should the pilots be? 27? Should I bring the needle clip down more? I know I need bigger carbs but I just had to rebuild the complete top and bottom end due to a rod bearing failing. So my spare money is more than spent. For now... :biggrin:

He helped me understand how to jet my carbs and where to start. So if you replied to any of my post or sold me any parts, thank you. I now have my best friend back. I've never had any friends but my quad was always there for me. And now I have her back. After 4 long months of hard work, research, and the help from you. Thank you :thumbsup: -Josh
  15. It was that damn piece of shit tors box. I was not paying attention and plugged it back in when I was puting everything together. I cut the plug off that fucker so this never happens again. Thanks for reminding me of that shit box tgbanshee. I feel so stupid now. But I got 2 heat cycles in and a 10 min run in today. constantly shifting through the gears and getting on and off the throttle at low RPM's. Thanks again guys
  16. Ok. My tester says 105 in each cylinder. I'm not sure about this tester because it showed my shee to have 98/95 and it still ran like a raped ape and would start on the 1 or 2nd kick. But idk. What is the average compression for a new top end that has never even been started?
  17. did not test the squish. I'll go do a compression test right now. be back in 5 min. Also, floats are good and just put a 320 main in each carb.
  18. Well, It does have spark. I kicked it over when it was getting dark and then saw blue light. Then I took the plugs out and they had fuel on em. WTF is going on? and yes, choke tube is on I even tried dragging it behind a truck to get ihe motor to spinn faster. Not once did it hit. I'm about to cry... :sad:
  19. I just installed a stroker and now i can't get the damn thing to start. new plugs, new crank, pistons, bearings, etc. Any sugestions? The stator is hooked up and tors is trashed by the way.
  20. Yes it sounds just like the PB sensor. That piece of shit gave me hell too.
  21. similar prob here. But mine works on low beam all the time and every now and then both will work on high beam. but 99% of the time, left side only works on low beam.
