  1. Welcome to the good ole HQ!! Good to see you can take some shit, without gettin all pissy.
  2. I say replace it. It will cost you a whole lot more if the gear comes off.Would tere some stuff up!
  3. This is also what I've seen. You measure by how hot the gasses are. Hotter temps = leaner fual mixture. Don't know much about it though.
  4. Be sure & check your steering loop. An easy way to tell is if the tank cover & rad. cover bolt up good, with no gaps between the two. Also look for cracked paint around the gussets and the loop.
  5. I bought a used set a few years back, excellent workmanship. I went from stock to these. Was like a whole new bike. When I went to bore them,I noticed a crack across the intake bridge. I have sinced replaced them. I'm not sure if this is comman or not,but I do know they ran really good even on the top end.
  6. I wear Sidi Flex Force boots. Pretty pricy but Very comfy right out of the box. I believe the boots you are looking at are a lower priced copy of these. The hinged ankle is a great design.
  7. I would'nt go less than .025,with .030 to .035 clearance being what I prefer.
  8. If you want to make sure your pistons are not hitting your head do this. Revove your head, get a 1/4" piece of thin solder, run up piston to 1/2" from top of bore, then lay the solder on top of piston at outer edge of piston paralell to wrist pin. Bolt up head not using o rings,1 dome at a time. Slowly turn over piston till it goes over TDC. Then unbolt head & measure thinnest point of solder. This will be you squish.
  9. I saw that show also.Thats some crazy stuff!! When they down, they go hard!
  10. You guys need to check out the boys from Oklahoma, Cross Canadian Ragweed. Not really country, but bad ass!!
  11. Had the same problem, mine was the crank seal clutch side.
  12. An aftermarket radiator has been one of my best investments.A cooler running motor will last longer.
  13. I will sell you some nice clamps for $40 to your door.PM me if interested
  14. I don't think you gonna go out & kick everyones ass, then go duning! The FASTEST drag bikes wont even think about running on the trails, whoops, ect. Can't have everything.Good luck though.
  15. I definatly remember him! He was THE bad ass at the time I used to have all the mxers posters plastered thoughout my room when I was a kid.Good memories!!
  16. yea you can run the same filter. What you bore is the inside through the center.Your gains won't be dramatic but you should notice the differance.I think a pretty good mod for the money.BTW I think that my purchase fo 35mm air strykers have been one of my biggest dissapointments as far as cost to perfomance. My buddy who has my old bored stock carbs runs right with me.Both bikes are set up with same porting also. Don't be fooled by all the big carb hoopla,on a dune port engine the stock carb can be made to run damm good!
  17. Exactually what happened to me,seal on crank(clutch side) went bad, causing pressure to build in crankcase. To check this out, ride around till the engine warms up,then pull the dipstick. There should be no pressure when you pull the dipstick.
  18. I recently bought a 440ex from a friend for cheap.I must say it is a lot of fun in the trails(sand)! I was suprised how much tourqe it has. However no way will it hang with the shee, but its not near the workout to ride.I'm probly just gettin old though. The bad side to this bike is it has a history of blowing head gaskets(twice in the last 2 years).I've read up a little & this seems to be a pattern with the 440 kits.I'd like to hear about some peoples 440s holding up well.Would make me feel better! I would like to see what it would do with porting& bigger valves.
  19. Sounds like the problem & the cause, all in one sentance!!
  20. I think for every .001, you increase your ring gap by .003.A long time auto machinist & drag engine builder who bores my jugs told me this. That would mean either the jugs are about .001 big or you might have got a bad set of rings.
  21. What happens when you put the larger sleeve in is that the OD of the sleeve now chokes down your transfers. Thus you now have a bigger bore with smaller tansfer ports. Now your trying to fill a bigger hole by way of a smaller passage. Thats what I determined after going to the larger sleeves.Be ready for some serious grind time!
  22. Oh yea, nothing like the"slap ya in the face" 2 stroke power band!
  23. Just gotta say,THIS is what the good ol HQ was meant to be! Lots of good info without all the BS.Good job guys I guess I'll throw in that I ran fattys for 4 years, good all round pipe also. I have since added port work & now run CPIs & love them also.
  24. Too much oil on a K&N will choke the air down also, making it run rich.
  25. Gad too see all work out Ray.
