When you had the carbs apart for cleaning did you check to see what jets were in it? I'd hate for you to spend alot of $ sending it to someone if we can give you alot of ideas of stuff to check. My parents live down in dallas (frisco actually) and im going to be down there in a week and a 1/2 and i'd be more than willing to take a look at it. Not sayin I'm some god or w/e but I'm definately cheaper then a builder, lol.

Well since the only thing you changed is the timing plate I would start there. Did you put on a new stator? Did you change the pick-up gap? Are any wires pinched or rubbing on something? I wouldn't automatically start messing with other things until you check all the electrical stuff involved with the stator/timing plate and all since that is all that you changed.

I was thinking more around a 270 with the lid still on.

Do you have the airbox lid on? There's a chance with the temp. increase that it got rich enough to start missing. Have you done any plug chops with the 290's?

I believe the Clymers says to warm it up b4 checking because it will suck some into the tranny that will stay in there. It's really easy to see this if you know someone with a lock-up. But ya try that and see what happens.

Did you warm the bike up at all b4 checking?
