  2. Just changed my gearing from dune setup to road setup. Dune setup is 14/43 with a 122 length chain. These gears were too deep for road running. Went to a 15/42 and took it out on the neighborhood streets a half hour ago and what a big improvement. Starting in first gear is useable but still deep. Am running 18-11-8 Holeshots in the rear, was thinking about going to a taller tire but don't think I need to now. Can't wait to get it out on the logging roads and run my buddies 700 Kawi. Mods include 426 stroker, milled head, PWK 35 Airstrikers, T 5's, +6 swinger.
  3. Very good point BigRed on the dual stock valves.
  4. I have had great luck with 35 PWK Airstrikers with dune port, 426 stroker, T5's, and K&N clamp ons. 1,000' elevation, 80-100 degrees, 158 mains, 58 pilots, needle in 4th position. Bike pulls really strong.
  5. Make sure you wrap the tape in the right direction. That would be clockwise with the fittings facing you. If not the tape will ball up when you thread the fitting in and it will for sure leak. I have 35mm PWK Airstrikers and I have 1/4 fuel lines installed on my Pingel valve going to the carbs.
  6. If you are going to run 18 or 19 domes I would start with straight 110 and jet your machine for correct altitude and air temp. Then after you get your carbs dialed in with correct needle clip position and air screw setting then you can lower the amount of octane by blending some fuel. But take baby steps when you do this and learn the sound of your motor. Once you start modding a two stroke it takes lots of steps to get to a well dialed in machine so it is smart to start on the safe side. Talk to your builder and listen and do what he says and start from there. If you are going to play with the big dogs you must be willing to pay the price.
  7. Not much difference between the 2's and the 3's. The petals are different, screws and snap in petals as stated earlier, and I believe when you order replacement petals you get the new style now. IMO dyno's are a baseline that is run in a controled environment. How well the bike is set up to put the HP to the ground and rider ability is the deciding factor on how well the bike runs.
  8. Whenever that starts happening on my bike I know it is time to clean the carbs.
  9. I've got a J Arm Drag Shooter set up for the Dunes but here in Minnesota we have none. I plan on taking it to St. Anthony as I am very familiar with the area as I keep my mountian sled in Idaho falls and fly out and go snowmobiling in Island Park with a friend that lives there 4 or 5 times a winter. He is buying a quad and we plan on doing the same thing with the quads in the summer (leave it in Idaho Falls in my storage unit with the sled). I traded a mod sled for this Banshee from a guy in Lawrence MI and brought it back to Minnesota and found out real fast that it is not a trail machine. I have been riding the Banshee on forest roads here in MN racing my buddies machines and playing with jetting and gearing for this application. I have two sets of tires but the setup for sand is spot on. For dirt I have a set of Holeshots for the rear (18x11x8) and all these tires do is spin all the way up through the gears. What do other forum members use for this type of application? I was thinking of picking up a pair of Kenda Dirt Dogs (22x11x8) and install them on the rims I already have the Holeshots on. I am in the process of changing the gearing as I am running 14/43 for the dunes and this is way to deep for road racing. I just picked up a 41 and 42 rear sprockets and a 15 front and plan on trying these. What does everyone think of the Kenda's and going from 18 tall to 22 with my gear choices for that application.
  10. Nice trailer, too bad you are 2000 miles away.
  11. I run Keihin PWK 35 Airstrikers on my Banshee 426 stroker with dune port, shaved head, airbox removed with K&N's and Outerwears. Main jets =158, pilots = 58, needles in 4th position, elevation at 1,000 feet 80 to 90 degree air temp. Main jets may be a little fat, could probabally run 155's. Carbs work great. Had to install a Pingel valve though for more fuel flow.
  12. I am very partial to the Boondocker system. I have installed them on my Mountian Sleds but not on a Quad. What I like about the system is it applies pressure to the float bowls when you are on the system so you do not have to jet fat for the juice. I was thinking of installing a kit on my Drag Shooter but after riding it the 426 stroker is more than I can handle at this time. Check out their web site for more info or give Rocky a call for more info. He is a great guy to work with. As far as the activation of the system I think you could use the manual button or better yet if you have a aftermarket CDI you could use the added trigger to activate it, and I believe they are programable on some of them Boondockers Homepage
  13. I'm sure Brandon is a great person, I'm looking forward to some positive posts in the future. It doesn't matter how old you are, everyone has life experiences to share with others especially when it comes to powersports.
  14. Not enough gas purchased, not enough grass smoked, and surely not enough ass. Brandon, I don't want to pick on you but you need to change your attitude, on other powersport fourms that I belong to us older guys tend to look out for the youth in our sport and help them out from time to time. Your generation and the ones behind you is what is going to keep the sport alive.
  15. I am also very new to this site and new to owning a Banshee. I traded a mod snowmobile for a drag Banshee and have been hooked since. I have been on here for the last month and have picked up a lot of great info from the (serious) members. I am 50 years old and have built mod snowmobiles for years but other than tuning a two stroke I know squat about my banshee. With what I have seen here there are a lot of serious builders on this site that enjoy building as much a riding. This is what keeps bringing me back to this site. I have been involved with a couple of snowmobile sites and have met lots of great people on the forums some of which have become riding partners and good friends that live 1,000 miles away. I plan on becoming a premium member of this site as this is the best on the web. So my advice to "Why does it cost money to be a Premium Member" is, if you don't like the cost, shut your pie hole and stop building a reputation for yourself.
  16. I am looking at upgrading my J Arm Drag shooters stock J arms to aftermarket. I have seen that Tyson and Dave Moore racing makes lightweight setups. Are there anymore makers out there and what are your opinions on these?
  17. Found this on SnoWest snowmobile forum. Lots of the mountain riders are going to the Marvin's. One of the forum members is running a special in June for - 10 on all orders. Check it out. Was thinking of ordering some for my drag shooter. MarvinShaw SnoWest Thread
  18. Where do you find these conversion kits?
  19. I have run Fox Floats on my mountain sled with the sway bar removed for a season now. I would recommend them for quad applications and they are very light. I have seen them for as cheap as $550 for the pair of floats.
