Cadillac thinks eveything he doesn't use sucks...or so i've read I make at least five trips to the dunes every summer, Sand Stars work as good as any i've seen out there. Unless you do nothing but drag, spending top dollar for Skat Traks is a waste. And like Bansh88 said, I've also seen a few pair lose their paddles. Now I know that Skat Trak will stand behind their work and they will fix them for free, but thats still a hassle IMO.

Best Spark Plug for a twin 350 shee
KlotzBanshee replied to twin 350's topic in Banshee Repairs and Mods
You're supossed to run a colder plug when your timming is advanced, which also goes hand and hand with higher compression and octane. I've tried all of the NGK's listed so far and I found my shee likes B9EG's the best and just like the hoes, shee gets what shee wants -
The motor does sit in the frame a little off center, but it shouldn't be cock-eyed. And the left side head pipe is always closer to the head than the right side. Sorry, i don't have any pics. Check your chain alignment to see if it looks about right?

That will work. But a block off plate is like ten bucks or so at most places, and it kind of adds a little bling to the caliper. (if you get a billit one). six reasons to scrap that POS: 1. the parking brake sucks, constantly has to be adjusted to work properly 2. the cable runs right in front if the cc dip stick...pain in the ass 3. the stupid rev limiter that is part of it is allways causing people problems 4. the stock perch is a cluster f*ck because of it 5. removes a good meals worth of weight 6. looks alot cleaner with out it. Plus I put on a "Works Connection Elite Perch" on, alittle pricey ($120), but man is it sweet. It has to be one of the nicest quality aftermarket products I've put on my shee, smooth as butter and it looks trick as hell. I just did mine this year, and I wish I'd tossed that crap a long time ago. $.02

I agree 100% that seems like a reasonable request, you would think. But with some of these companies out there, that's like pulling teeth

I hear its gonna be like mid 50's all weekend. a little chilly for my taste. But so far we're going anyway? Might push it back another week?

So nobody knows shit about spark plug indexing huh? Does anyone even know what I'm talking about? If so, does it work? Waist of time? NGK's site says "for racers only" ...won't see significant power gains, but will get a cleaner burn? F it...I'm trying it anyway, let you guys know what happens later.
-
A guy I work with (who is a hardcore snowmobiling freek) asked me if I indexed my plugs in my shee? I'd never heard of it before, but when he briefly explained it to me, it makes sense. So naturaly I wondered if any of you guys do, or know about indexing spark plugs. I did a search, and this thread (old 2004 posting) is all I found (not real helpfull). So...any takers?

I split the cases today and found the crank bent
KlotzBanshee replied to GSXKID's topic in Banshee Repairs and Mods
Stories like this scare me I've had my 99 since new, and the bottom end has never been touched, other than a clutch kit which doesn't really count. Is this something I should watch out for? Is there a life expectancy for the bottom end? Is there anything you can do to prevent catastrophic failure like poor GSXKID and trail rider have experienced? forgive me, I'm not trying to steel your thread GSXKID. I think any answers to these questions would help both of us, or even all of us who don't know. -
How good is Silver Lake sand dunes?
KlotzBanshee replied to Kintore's topic in General Banshee Discussion
Its my fav place to ride, in michigan anyway (haven't ridden out of state yet) Do a search on "Silver lake sand dunes" in here, you should find more than enough info. -
I hear its not a good idea. It'll throw off your susp geom. and it leaves your brake calipers exposed to rocks and stuff. I wouldn't do it $.02

What Oil To Run In The Crank Case?
KlotzBanshee replied to ajsproaudio's topic in Banshee Repairs and Mods
I've never understood why people will bitch about spending a little money for a couple qts of oil or any other products for that matter, when you have a $6000+ quad you're putting it in? I'll buy the best shit out there if it will save me in the repair$ dept. ya know...makes no sence to me. -
What Oil To Run In The Crank Case?
KlotzBanshee replied to ajsproaudio's topic in Banshee Repairs and Mods
I've been using the Bel Ray 80w clutch saver for years with no problems w/ clutch or trany. You may have to change it more frequently, but so what. cheap insurance if you ask me. 1500cc cap. its like 1.6 qts or 1.5 L ....something like that. Buy a manual asap. -
I'm pretty sure that there is already a post out there about this subject? But yeah, some friends and i will be there that weekend. staying at the state park cg. maybe we'll see ya there, toss a couple back or something. Ryan

Two words for that...."Smith & Wesson" If some dumb ass wants to come a try to take any of my shit, I hope, for their family's sake they have a full life insurance policy. I'm a lite sleeper and I don't f*ck around! Do ya feel lucky punk?....well do ya?

......sell out!

Rule #1...Don't, under any circumstances, let anyone ride your Banshee! surrrrrre everyone thinks they can ride.... Sorry I dunno about anyone to do mx porting. but stick w/ Wiseco pistons like kb7kuh said.

I hear ya there, i had a system for my car before i had a car for my system But like i said, I've been rockn' those 12's for like damn near 11 years! they still sound great. Not saying you or anyone else in here does, but too many people crank up the gains on their amps to get maximum volume when that also gets ya maximum distortion, which we all know is the enemy.....Turn it down, so you can turn it up...thats what i say anyway...to a certain extent.
-
They'll give you specs, sealed-ported or otherwise, on every sub they make. But when the solobarics came out back in the late 90's they were said to be great (designed) for small sealed enclosures. Ya know I went from a sealed box to a bandpass box w/ my old comps, I heard a bunch of shit from various people that "those aren't made for a bandpass box" but after they all heard em out of a bp box they ate their words...True, they don't hit as tight as they did in a seled box...but the looooows, holly shit!!!!!!! they booooom! I love to piss the neighbors off I've had professional car audio shops say I had the best (clearest, not loudest) system they've ever heard. And I do all my own instalations. $.02
-
Ha!....great minds think alike
-
Solobaric's are made to run in small sealed enclosures. They're idealy for when space is a problem. If you have a big ass trunk, suv, or ex cab truck save your money and get regular kickers or whatever. They are nice though

I took a look at the new Phazer the other day at the stealership where i bought my shee, it looks like a pretty badass sno-x sled, but to covert it to a new banshee? quite a strech if you ask me. Dirtwheels likes to throw those photoshop specials in there once and a while, just to make people like us do a double take. like WTF! ...they're just f'n w/ us.
-
Try trading Quads and see who wins then. That will usually rule out rider skills. Also, are you alot heavier than him? Makes a diff.
-
Yeah, Made by Yakkey....I think Alba sells them.

I'm bump'n some old school 1995 Kicker Comps C12a's in a Q-logic bandpass box running off a badass old 1995 Rockford Punch 100ix. I've had the shit since HS and it still blows away most of the new shit out there. The rest is mostly Eclipse. I'm lucky to never have had it stolen after all these years! If I were to buy some new subs, they would def be some JL's
