Since Jeff @ FAST is closed for awhile !
Geoff replied to milo_32000's topic in Banshee Repairs and Mods
St. Anthony's is in Idaho. Haven't been there just know theres some big stuff. -
Just threw the 330's in and seems to run fine. I've got the 310's that I took out and I've also got some 320's I'll take with me incase. Hopefully it runs good, I'll find out in 24hrs. Thanks guys

Blackstallion, thanks for the great input . Why don't you PM him if you got such a beef, people are just going to bag on yuh anyways when you post crap like that. Theres a way to complain were people see your side and give you the benefit of the doubt and then theres the way you went about it and people most likely are going to tell you to shut the f&*k up because alot of people on here talk highly about Jeff. I've never had him do any work for me but no one is going to listen to yuh when you come on here talkin' all that nonsense. :yankyank: Just my .02

Yeah I'm running stock carbs but thats what I'm saying, my mains seem small. I have soem 330's that I might just throw in before I head to the coast for 2 days. I haven't done a plug chop just check them regularly. I live and hour or two from the coast(were I ride) and in town here I don't have any place were I can run it in 6th. Thanks for the info so far guys

Ok I ended up buying some CPI's a couple of weeks back and at the same time I put in V-3's. The shee runs good and the plug is brown but I haven't rejetted at all and I was wondering if I'm missing out on more performance. I'm at sea level. 310/27.5, 2 1/4 out, middle clip, K&N pods, +4 timing, was told when i bought the bike it has a "race port", but I'm not tearing it down till fall to know for sure. I can woop other piped shees( so it seems something has been done) but a 4mil will hand me my azz thats for sure. Don't want to screw up a good thing since it's running good but it seems like my mains are small compared to what everyone else says there running. Thanks Geoff

That sucks you haven't got to work out the gremlins yet. Probably jonesin quite a bit to ride it. Hopefully you get it fixed soon so you can enjoy the summer.

I try spraying some WD down the cable but it's kinda a tedious process. The throttle cable was way to tight once I put on the intake so I reran it and that solved it hanging up and pinning the throttle wide open. I can open it up all the way and it wont stick and riding it almost never does but I don't want it to stick on a tree shot that could be bad news for me. I guess I'll fiddle with it and see what happens. dajogejr, have you ran your bike since you put the noligy coil on? If so hows it run? Thanks for your guys's help Geoff

Ok, i had my bike running good and I put on some new pipes and got a boss intake. I had to rerun my throttle cable since the intake pushed the carbs back so far and it was binding the cable. I then readjusted my slides and now every once in awhile it hangs up but not completely wound out. I went riding last weekend and it happened like 3 times in 6-7hrs of riding. Is there something I can lube the thottle cable with and maybe thats it. Or is the slide possibly hanging up in the cap? I thought I knew how to adjust the slides but maybe I don't, so feel free to tell me how you do it so I can rule something out. Thanks Geoff

bansheeseat$$, Thats what I'm leaning towards. I just personaly haven't got to ride a shee with CPI's and thats alot of cash for me, so I don't want to make a bad move & waste my money by going in blind so to speak. Everything I've heard is good, but like you and many others have said about exhausts is that everyone has avery different opinion for the most part. Thanks

I had a thread up about a problem with my stingers(stock stingers/FMF pipes/Toomey silencers=a mess). Heres the deal I bought a Boss Intake and now with that on, my carbs hit the stingers big time and the left stinger is pinned to the frame. If I buy the FMF stinger kit it's like $175 but If I sell them in a few months I'll probably only get 2-250 for them right....So that seems like a waste, besides there ugly. Or should I just take off the sweet looking intake I bought and garage it until I get new pipes next winter and make do with my jimmy rigged exhaust as it is? I was planning on porting(supposebly my shees already ported, I can smoke shees that are piped & the normal boltons) and getting new pipes next winter anyhow so do I just cut my losses and buy the pipes and be done with it All I do is Dune ride... drag, tree shots, and some trails, full throttle alot. I can get CPI's for $550 here in town. Out of town mon-fri and I want to go riding Sat so I got to decide. Come on guys give me your input and help a brother out. Thanks Geoff

OK, I'm running 12/41 with 22x11x8 with a 71 rollout I think. So whats the difference between my gearing and someone running 14/46? I was told that 1 tooth in the front is equal to 3 in the rear....so with that info aren't I pretty much geared the same? Or is there some other reason people aren't running a small front sprocket? Thanks Geoff

I emailed toomey asking about this, I'll let you know what they say when they get back to me. This is what they just sent me "This was for the T3 Model Pipes, and is no longer available. We only have the T5 and T6 Silencer kits (or stinger tubes by themselves) available. Neither of which would fit right up to your T3 pipes, (if that is what you have?) The T3 were discontinued in 1995 and supported for 7 more years, but alas, we had to retire the tooling because of no call." Guess I'm SOL on going that route.

Go with the honda carrier. I've got a stock extended +6 and I can't wait tell I have the extra cash to get a round tube swinger w/honda carrier. Much easier to adjust and looks nicer also. Check out Modquad, from what I've been told the fella' that used to make Tucker swingers under his own name is now the one making them for Modquad. Thats probably what I'll get when the time comes. +4 is nice you can still lift the front, +6 for the most part drop it and go. I wiegh about a buck 50 and on wet sand 2 weeks ago I had to start peddling it cuz it was rippin' it up pretty good. I'm also geared really low for tree shots though.

bansheeseat$$, I wonder if I can get T-3 stingers thru Toomey? I'll have to check, if FMF didn't make such an ugly silencer I would just buy them for now. Thanks again guys, your always helpful Geoff

Ok, the shee I bought a couple months ago has FMF fatty pipes with Toomey silencers and what appears to be the stock stinger. I called FMF and they say that there stinger wont mount up to any other silencer. I was inquiring about this because on the Riders left pipe were it passes inside the frame it vibrates against it and it's annoying so I was looking into getting the proper stinger. I don't want to buy the FMF stinger/silencer kit...One cuz I think there ugly and 2 cuz in the near future I want new pipes. I guess what I want to know is is there a stinger I can buy that will fit with the FMF's and moount to my silencers properly. The one on there now is too short and looks like crap. Thanks, hope someone can help me Geoff

Wish they weren't so expensive...Some nice lookin' pipes. I'll give yuh a free bump. To the person that gets them
-
Man looks like I may need to buy something else, I even told myself I was going to stop so I could put my new motor in my 68' chevy. Were did you get it thru and what is the kit you got. I was looking on there site and nothing is listed for shee's or atv's for that matter. Glad it worked for yuh. Thanks
-
Just hang in there, someone will buy it, it's just alot of guys on here no exactly what they want and are looking for a steal, rather than a standard price. Good luck
-
Man it's always funny listening to all you guys. I live in Oregon and your lucky to find any year banshee thats not stock for under $3000...No joke. Sport ATV's are expensive here. A friend sold a 06' yfz 450 that was used for $6500 no questions asked, the guy called once came down and bought just like that. I bought my 00' shee for $3800 and the guy was asking 4200. Any bike fixed up and clean is for sale for between 5500-6500 usually. It's crazy, I envy you guys......but then again I've got 3 dunes to hit that are between 1-3hrs drive also. Not hijacking the thread, just giving my .06

I have FMF fatty's, +4 timing, shaved head, k&n's...so pretty close to what you have. I'm 310 main, 27.5 pilot(don't do a 30, bottom end will suck), needle in stock position and 2-2 1/4 turns out. I'm at sea level. That might get you close.
-
Not trying to pile on cuz I don't know shit, but I found this line very entertaining....... "pilot about 1 1/4 turns out" . Let me know how that works, if there is better bottom end or not....maybe your on to something.
-
Whats it do? I assume just a hotter spark correct. I'd also assume theres no rejetting involved it's juts more efficient? Thack you ran your bike yet? Let us know how it is.

My sister and bro-in-law have raptors and I think they ride to hi. If it were those two chasis's I go with the 450....wider, lower, and longer. Better CG than the raptor for sure. But I don't know crap, just thought I'd chime in.

Hey everybody thanks for all the info. dajogejr, I wouldn't take anything like that personal.....I'm learning man, you call it as you see it which is how you should. I wish I could test them all out also. Thats alot of coin to shell out and be unsure thats why I'm asking so much about them......My money tree looks like a bonzai tree, lol. I'm recently divorced from a financial nightmare of an ex....enough said. I'll keep searching and learning, any other info you got to share is great....Keep it coming. Thanks Geoff

kb7kuh, I know that signs funny. I pointed it out to my dad when I went last time, he's never seen atv's on that scale. They definately have a return customer in me.
