  1. Ok Jeffro... What gives?? what you sneaking together on us now??
  2. The OP said he wasn't doing drags with this bike... What is your definition of "dune rding"??? We've already stated in the open runs.. a banshee will be faster... But in the more technical areas.. the 450 has advantages.. Your are in total denial if you think a banshee is even remotely capable of out performing a 450 where it was designed to perform... Again.. Banshee's have their purpose.. and the 450's have theirs... By the way... Its "no"... not "know way in hell"
  3. You do realize that once you put them streetbike motors into a quad chassis they'll loose about 30-35% of their hp? Also.. do you realize how much them motors wiegh??. Power to weight ratio is everything.. Nice insult.. I was atleast being civil. Here is a little'ol 4mil cub vs well built rocket hybrid.. This just proves that it dont take much from a banshee to keep up with a rocket powered quad.. We were trading wins all day. http://s78.photobucket.com/albums/j102/fouledout/videos/?action=view&current=a8a05774.flv
  4. I disagree with all of this... Well.. almost all of it.. I underline what I dont agree with.. FYI... Tyler DID build a Raptor hybrid with a CBR engine.. As for my sig.. It is what it is... Its only directed at you if you feel you have useless parts posted in your sig.. I think I speak for majority when I say people dont care that I have a billet parking brake block off plate.. Like brugal said.. My banshee is 100% drag only.. Alot of people stereotype us drag racers as not having any knowledge about building a good duner or trail bike.. Most of us got our start in the dunes and trails.. Very few start at the track.
  5. I dont have a stocker... It was sarcasm. I've had my bikes in my sig for a long time now and I'm sure most know what I have... My current Banshee has nothing to do with this thread. I prefer a +2 for duning.. I've used everything from stock to +14 and I found it to be the best for what I do in the dunes. Again.. I 100% agree with Tyler.. Banshee's have their purpose and are the best at what they do.. Going fast in the open. Some people like to hit jumps, carve bowls, shoot through trails and just general play ride in the dunes.. And the 450's are better at that.. They Fly better, they handle better, have gobs of torque and the power is now... All of this makes the 450's the better all around bike.
  6. are you going by the color of the plug or the heat readings?
  7. NINJA RACING
  8. Greg and Paula have been nothing but great to me.. I had some issues with my trans about 2yrs after I bought it. Around the same time all the shit was going around. Sent it in.. Greg called me as soon as it showed up. Took a couple days and looked it over.. called me back with what he found and it was on its way back to me. He even threw in a added bonus and gave me the bearing mod to the shift drum and did a new cut on the star. I couldn't be happier with the way I've been treated by them thus far. Everyone is gonna have a horror story about someone in this industry.. I guess just take in all the info you can and make the best decision possible. Its by far the smoothest trans I've ridden so far.. Great trans.. I should be getting my drum back pretty quick.
  9. lol sorry Jeff, I guess the "strut" part threw me off.. I understand now. I'll keep an eye out.. Just curious.. can the upper heim be removed and replaced with the stud? Bump for a great guy!
  10. I've used +2, +4 and a +6.. the 6 was good for your average dune riding.. but got a bit hair for me while jumping. I'm not exactly gifted when it comes to jumping to begin with.. The 4 was a good all around arm.. My favorite was probably the +2. Just a lil extra to help keep the front down but was very controllable.
  11. Ok... I suppose I'll enlighten you a bit on that build that I parted nearly 5yrs ago.. It had PTR hi-rev porting PTR midrang pipes and Hi-rev pipes, 35pwks, Pyramid reed valves, cool head with custom cut domes(ran 110), Timing plate +5, Dura-blue eliminator axle, cheap works shocks front and works rebuilt stock rear. +2 swingarm. The rest of the mods are meaningless towards the orientation of the build. I built it for the dunes and then I rode my 450 that year and decided I was wasting money on the banshee. So.. I parted it out.
  12. Just outa curiosity... Why would you need Power jets on a build that small running on gas??
  13. Jeff you talking about the struts that look like the shocks?
  14. With the mods you listed earlier.. thats well over 3k worth of mods. If a used banshee is a option.. then why not a used 450? What ever... Not my build... My banshee is stock..
  15. Either way.. The carbs need to be pulled apart and thoroughly cleaned and inspected. Also.. Check your float lvl.
  16. lol thats what i was thinking. I've dont it once.. I'll admit it.
  17. I know WCR is offering a "extreme" duneable and he claims no wear from backloading. He has a warranty on them if they do. Probably should get with them for the details on that. For some reason.. The edit option isn't working for me... hence my multiple posts.. lol
  18. I'm not sure on sure on tylers trans.. They cut them so many different ways. But the N down is the way to go for sure for a few reasons.. I have a 1-5 standard N. When I'm warming up my bike.. I REALLY have to make sure no one is in front of me and my clutch pulled in even if its in N. Reason being.. Springs hold the trans in N.. That spring gets weak the trans could slip into 1st as your blipping the throttle. I'm sure the engine vibration dont help it any. Its happend to me a few times now.. On my 4mil cub and my big motor.. Also.. When I stage.. I like to pull the clutch in and clean out the motor... This heats my clutch up.. Its alot easier to just click down for N.. clean it out... then click back up.. ALOT easier on the clutch pack. I already sent a new drum/star out to get cut for the N down instead of the standard N.
  19. Huh.... I guess I forgot how to read. My bad..
  20. Why dont your CRF have elcectric start?? easy.. its a MX bike. Weight is a issue.. Same reason that they make a kick start kit for the YFZ.. Even if your banshee was warm.. You'll still loose time kicking it over.. Like I said.. Its not about the ability to kick it over.. It don't matter if your 4yr old could kick it.. its about convenience. Why by a 450 quad? because some of us dont like dirtbikes. when properly maintained a 450 is very reliable... The machine is only as reliable as the mechanic performing the maintenance. Do you know what the valve train maintenance schedule is for the 450? You have no idea how over looked this is.. yet when something fails.. people never blame themselves.. I've worked in a service dept at a dealer. I've seen first hand how stupid people can be... Like I said.. Mine is a 04' with no oil mod.. It runs like a top and I've yet to put a dime into it. My 450 keeps up just fine with ported and carbed banshee's.. Maybe not drag porting... but.. then again.. mine isn't a drag build either. And dollar for dollar.. I got ALOT less into mine then a ported and carbed banshee and its just as reliable if not more.. My banshee was purpose built as a duner.. and I still think my 450 was more fune to ride..
  21. Mine has 13:1 piston Stage 2 hotcams HD valve springs Vortex Programed CDI (15k rev limiter) Pro-flow K&N kit. Full Duncan FB2 exhaust. Got alot of other crap on it too.. but nothing important that would affect the engine. Did all this work about 4 yrs ago and have yet to put a dime into it for a premature failure. And this is a 04' without the oil mod.... It holds its own against lightly modded banshee's in a drag race with my 200lb ass on it.. Not saying I win them all but.. I've won a few.. Its not a drag racer by any means, it has more then enough power for what I use it for. I got less into my mods then what it would cost for porting, pipes, carbs, head/domes, filters.
  22. I agree, I have a 04' that I bought new and I have yet to put one dime into it to fix/replace a faild part. I swaped the piston out for a Hi-comp piston in 05' and did alot of other bolt-on mods. Thing still runs like a champ today.
  23. Come and kick my banshee over... We'll do the world a favor and shoot ya after.. Have you ever Raced Hare Scrambles?? If you have then you would know that a Electrics start is WAY better. Its about the convienence.. not the ability to do it. Do you use a TV remote? (dont even say no.. ) I'll take my 450 over my banshee in the dunes.. It just more all around fun. The only thing a banshee has on a 450 is straight line drags. Everyone can sit here and argue that fact. But... Its true. There is a reason why the 450's are taking over.. Even in the amateur ranks where sponsorship is non-existent.
  24. Depending on the state of tune and size of the motor and how much time you spend at WOT.. maybe 1 mile.? I used to get about 20 300ft passes with my 4mil cub. I would not use alky for anything other then drag racing.
