  1. My "American Made" Ford Ranger just rolled over 202k the other day. I will say that it has been in the shop once, OEM timing belt went at 180k. It is a non-interference engine so I wasnt going to change it until it broke. Still rolling on the stock clutch too. I don't baby this truck either, i had it at the drag strip with 179k on it last summer. It sees rev-limiter about once a week. I have beat on my ranger since the day i have got it and it keeps running strong.
  2. I don;t have anything to trade with you but I live just outside of Martinsville. We should ride together sometime.
  3. Thanks guys... It is just starting to get warm here in good ol' Indiana and I am itching to ride.. He told me that he was 30 deep when I first talked to him when i sent it out there. I didnt know that he had a full time job outside of his business. Thanks for the input..
  4. I don't want this to come off like I am bad mouthing Jim, but i sent him my engine about 10 weeks ago, he said it would be 6-8 weeks and i would have it back.. I call out there and his wife always answers and says that he isn't available and that he will call me back. He hasn't called. Has anyone else had to wait a long time to get your engine back from him?
  5. I was having withdrawals. The bar seemed to fix that though.
  6. haspin has a hare scramble every month from like march to november
  7. Common myth. For example: Take 2 identical cars, both weighing 3000#. In the first car we are going to put a Formula 1 engine, makes about 800HP and about 380ish ft/lbs of torque. In the second car we will put Diesel engine, 300Hp and like 500 ft/lbs of torque. The car with the formula 1 engine will win races all day long over the diesel powered car. I agree that there are plenty diesel powered cars out there that perform pretty well. But they are not superior to gas burners. All these 4 strokes you ride with, have more torque then your banshee. Do they usually beat you?
  8. I hope to god you can ride all year on private land with whatever sticker you want.
  9. Lets make a list of the race cars that don't use a diesel engine. Wait a minute..... The list would be a forum in and of itself. There are too many ethanol plants springing up, here around the midwest, for car manufactures to switch too diesel as the primary source of fuel. I will give you this though, Diesels shine when it comes to making torque. Gas engines shine when it comes to making HP. Personally I enjoy being able to turn more then 3k rpm.
  10. WHAT? That is crazy.. What is the reasoning behind this?
  11. Go to NAPA and you can buy chain in 10ft lengths. I think that is enough to make 2 chains
  12. What is the difference in the stickers? I'm from Indiana and we don't have anything like that. Just curious.
  13. I agree, it will be something neat to see when it is done. I apologize for saying that it is the "dumbest idea ever". I am just tired of all the diesel guys that think their 8000 lb truck is a sports car.
  14. I hope you have a receipt for that magic engineering crystal ball.
  15. I am all for engine swaps in everything, be it a car or a quad. I just don't see where putting a diesel engine in a sport quad would be worth it. Can someone explain to me where the performance gains will be? My banshee puffs smoke right now.. Diesels that pour "black smoke" are not burning all their fuel. That black smoke you see is unburnt fuel.
  16. Gas engines > Diesel engines, the only thing that diesel engines are good for is towing. If diesel engines were "superior" to gas engines then you would see them in every car on the road and every race car.
  17. http://www.cobramotorcycle.com/v2_quad.asp Kinda pricey though
  18. Diesel banshee = dumbest idea ever
  19. With our economy quickly falling into a recession, I would not recommend real estate. If you want to work on a "race team", you should go to college and get a degree in Mechanical Engineering..And I wouldn't start out as a tech and "work my way up" to management. Most companies these days like to hire people that have management education and leave the "techs" in the position that they are in.
  20. You will walk past him without a problem
  21. I should have mine back together in a couple of weeks.. I live just south of Indy, so it will be a haul for me but I am game for riding up there.. You wouldnt happen to have an extra set of paddles I could bolt up for the day would you?
  22. I would like to get mine down to around 370-375ish "ride weight"... I dont really know what to start loosing though.. I ride woods/trails
  23. How much does your shee weigh? I know that they are like 385 lbs stock, just curious if anyone has weighed theres after all the mods..
  24. bump
  25. I sent mine from here in Indiana (Entire engine) to Passion in Oklahoma, through DHL and it only cost me $48 each way.
