Q: I've just modified my engine and need to rejet my carb. How do I find my Elevation/Altitude?? A: If you've done work to your motor or going to ride in a place different from your normal spot, chances are your may need to tune your carb(s) to match the difference in elevation change between the 2 places so the motor will preform properly. This link will take you to a site where you can look up where you are or where your are going. this can allow your to make any neccessary adjustments to your jetting. http://www.topozone.com/

To most people, the numbers on their spark plug are a great mystery. Since a great many folk prefer to use the NGK brand, here's a link to a site that breaks down the puzzle of those mystifing symbols. Each manufacturer uses a different ordering system, but this should give anyone a good idea of what it means. NGK- http://www.ngksparkplugs.com/techinfo/spar...rtnumberkey.pdf *Updated* Bosch- http://www.boschusa.com/popup_image.asp?im...esignationcodes Champion- http://www.championsparkplugs.com/sparkplug411_champion.asp *note: more links will be added for other manufacturers as they become avalible.

just got a letter from ATVA and here's what it said(sorry about pic size, wanted to keep it large enough to read clearly.) page 2 and here's a link to the ARRA(Americans for Responsible Recreational Access) home page where they also have an article on it and a pre-composed form letter you can send. I urge ALL NYS riders to send a copy to the State Legislature to finally give us the trails program that we have been funding and that they have been promising for the last 20 years.

do ya one better. -
yeah, unplug the little black box next to the coil, both connectors to thew carbs, the one going to the throttle and the one to the P-brake on the clutch lever. then just tape up the connector to keep the crud out.
-
I'd double check all your wire connections. could have pulled one of the connectors or a wire loose and just far enough apart that it's not quite making contact. I've has a brand new replacement wire harness have a couple of bad connections in it where the wire wasen't pushed all the way in to the connecter.

Very simple to do. It's probibly posted on the website where else but this it how we tell folks on some of the other boards I mod and admin on, and they seem to get it fairly quick. #1 find your self an online image host like PhotoBucket or Image Shack and register an account with them. they're free for the basic accounts. I use Image shack meyself and have had no problems w/ them. #2 upload you photos to your account useing the directions they provide. #3 in your account homepage you should see all your uploaded images. select the one you wish to post and they should provide a code that should look like this(minus the *'s) "[*URL=http://imageshack.us*][*IMG*]http://img96.imageshack.us/img96/7777/05wickedblackred7sp.jpg[*/IMG*][*/URL*] #4 Highlight the code you want( they usually give several codes for thumbnail images, websites, and hot links for forums which is what you'll want in this case.) and use "copy" (in the Right Click menu) to select it. #5 go to the text area( your Signature or Message reply box) and use the "paste" (in the Right Click menu) to insert the code into the message. if you do it right this (minus the *'s)= [*URL=http://imageshack.us*][*IMG*]http://img96.imageshack.us/img96/7777/05wickedblackred7sp.jpg[*/IMG*][*/URL*] will look like this: Hope this helps ya.

since I never have help when I work on my bikes I've had to get creative to create the extra hands I've needed. I found if you jack the bike up just enough to take the weight off the shocks and take a long tire spoon or pry bar w/ the end covered on duct/electric tape( so as not to scratch the shaft) and slip it down through the spring and use the bottom of the shock cylinder to pry against. I usually move the clip up or down one groove at a time and then reposition for the next one so as not to bind up the bar in the spring or should it slip, the handle only comes back up several inches.

air box to the left, head to the right. stick it right about where the red circle is.

can't find what I'm looking for, so here's a pic of a Lectron and, in a nut shell, how a dial-a-jet works. air rushes into the carb causing a low pressure in the carb, which draws the fuel up through the jet as we all know( or should). but in the case of a Lectron or Dial-a-Jet, when the fuel is drawn out of the bowl, it causes a slight vacuum in the bowl(hence the typical vent hoses we all see normally). the pick -up tube(or dial-a-jet intake) channels air down through the tube into the bottom of the bowl where it essentually bubbles air into the fuel(kinda like an air stone in a fish tank), thus enriching the fuel. so as the emulsified fuel draws out of the main jet, it will atomize faster and more evenly because of it being, for lack of a better term, part-evaporated already. thus it can sort of self adjust itself because the amount of air it draws into the bowl is a result of the outside air pressure, giving it the ablity to act like almost a full jet size up or down from the main jet, giving it a bit of a range. A Lectron uses a Mikuni pilot jet to meter the air flow though the tube w/ a screw to fine tune it. if I remember right the Dial-a-Jet uses a small box w/ a screw that works like a water faucet valve to adjust the air flow.
-
they should mount on top of the inlet bell in front of the filter clamp. let me see if I can find the stuff I got on Lectrons to explain it for you. the "dial-a-jet" works like the pick-up tube system that Lectron has used for like 40 years.

screw it. keep what you got and save up and buy a rolling chassis and do a slow ground up build. Thats what I'm gonna do w/ thew spare frame I got. just got to wittle down the # of other projects I have first.

Hell, what do ya want to know about 'em. I've had mine about a year and a half and was that ever a wake up call. all 4 years are essentually the sameand most of the parts are inter-changeable if you match them correctly. but there are a million small different changes over the years.

on ebay Billet High Flow Water Pump Impellor Kit NEW this guy did have the bearing in his "store" too last time I checked.

I was just talking to a couple of guys on another board last week about investing in this set up from Eastwood cause I got a bunch of small stuff and a couple of project frames I'd like to do and I have people ask me about powder coaters cause they want to get stuff done. the gun looks a bit cheap, but it's for powered plastic not paint, so you only use a couple of pounds of air. IR Cure System With Deluxe Hotcoat Gun they also carry the extra lamps and they sell like 100 different color powders including some mirror finish including a chrome and Hi-Temp stuff.

it's supposed to be like a more modern version of the "Roost Boost". but without the discharge delay the roost boost was notorious for. Personally I think it's just another case of "World's Greatest Fishing lure", designed to catch fishermen, not fish. I agree w/ rocketboy on this. get a Nology profire coil w/the HotWires. got one on my '01 and my 250R. the arc difference was like a match vs. a Mag light. http://www.nology.com/home.html got mine off eBay and the guy gave me free shipping cause I bought the 2 sets(coil, wire and silverstone plugs, I think the plugs are crap though )

Got a pair of Fast Trekker front tires (21x8-9) that gotta go. Got 'em off Ebay last week and the guy I got them for don't want them now and is stiffing me on the money. Brand new, still wrapped up from when I got them. Don't fit anything I have, otherwise I'd keep them for myself. Too small a rim size for my fronts and too narrow for me to use as rears. Just looking to get what I paid for them. $80 shipped. figured I'd check w/ you guys to see if anyone could use them before toss them back on eBay. let me if anyone can use them. I'll get a pic of them up tomorrow.

been watching ebay, but nada on either one yet. did pass on a motofast set-up the other week cause it wasen't right. the guy was selling it w/ a 35mm Kehin, I been told it did come like that at one time. this is the Motofast intake I'm looking for(a bit grungy from sitting),this is the one out of my '01 and want another for my '06 LE. comes w/ a 40mm Lectron Powerjet carb. I been told the manifold was originally made by ProDesign (heard about it from a buddy of mine on another board who ran it on his XC Banshees. we been trying to get one of his friends @ PD to start making them again ) the manifold is a 2 piece deal, and uses an airbox adapter like the Trinity set-up
-
I've got the one out of the "Blue Bomber"(my '01), I'll get a pic up later tonite of what it looks like.
-
which one is it?? the 33,35 or 38 mm?? thumb or twist throttle?? one with the air box adapter or w/ the clamp on filter??
-
bump
-
I love mine, hates me though. Looked alright when I bought it(didn't know jack about 'em aside from the basics). Got most of the bugs worked out now( and was there ALOT of them) and it's night and day to the Banshee. got a spare frame too that I'm planning on doing a "ground-up" on over the summer.
