  1. just a thought on that rattle. Is it more like a buzzing type of rattle than a slapping sound?? if it is, check the front of your frame skid. I got an AC frame that was bent a bit that I bent back to where should be and the front of that thing would make the most irritating vibration noise. took 2 weeks to figure it out cause it would only do it when it idled for a while or when I sat w/ the clutch in at a lower rev. finally got it to stop after I took it off to clean out a ton of wood chips out from under the motor and it stopped. put the plate back on and it came back. stopped it by sticking a few strips of foam tape between the plate and the frame.
  2. that's a bypass hose. it mostly acts as a vent to keep steam pressure from building in the head. yes that belongs there and should be left.
  3. there should be 3 fat hoses. one from the top of the radiator to the top front side of the cylinder head cap, one from the top backside of the cylinder head cap(angled straight down) running down between the intakes to the water pump housing (right side, right above the brake pedal), and front of the water pump housing up to the bottom of the radiator. and there is one small hose from the filler neck all the way back to the overflow bottle.

  5. if you like funny/dirty stuff listen to John Valby aka Dr.Dirty, he'll have you in tears!!!(only God know how we didn't get arrested at the last show I went to. )
  6. is it a stock bike or is it modded?? it really depends on types of mods, location, quality of fuel, brand of pre-mix oil and a few other things. I could run 50:1 in both of mine, but I prefer to keep them at 40:1(using yamalube or Spectro). I'd rather need to change out a $2-3 plug than big bucks for a new topend myself. for a 40:1, thats 16oz of oil to 5 gal. of gas. most premix oils have a chart on the bottle in case you forget.
  7. me, I like darker type stuff: Maiden, Preist, Metallica(older stuff, wouldn't wipe my cat's ass w/ their last few album, imo), Megadeth, Iced Earth, Motorhead, Pantera,Biohazard and the Godfathers of Metal Black Sabbath
  8. now where have I heard this before???? Oh yea!! I remember now, but went something like this: "Politicians hide themselves away they only started the war Why should they go out to fight? They leave that role to the poor"
  9. yup, gotta love 'em. my friend used to get pissed cause we'd hotwire his blaster all the time and take it out by unplugging and cross wireing the switch.
  10. including the above mentioned Rocky http://www.cascadeinnovations.net/ http://modquad.com/store/default.asp http://www.albaaction.com/index.htm http://trinityracing.com/index.html
  11. bump. had a few people ask about them and never get back to me.
  12. any good book should have a selection(Borders, Barnes & Noble, Amazon.com, Repairmaual.com, etc), most dealers should have a good size selection right on the shelf or most parts retailers carry them(Dennis Kirk Chapperal, Rocky Mountain, etc). depending where you get it, it should cost between $20-30. believe me it's the best single investment you can make for it(followed closely by pipes, air filter and shocks )
  13. Brrrrrrr. I think the temp dropped about 15 degrees in here.
  14. it's like a "Wet Paint" sign, it's human nature to look and see if it is wet.(and that's about the time I scream "Hey, That's wet!!!!" and they freak and put their whole hand in it.)
  15. yup thats our boy: the brown recluse. nasty little buggers. http://www.uky.edu/Ag/Entomology/entfacts/struct/ef631.htm and I hate to break it to ya man, but according to the map on the page the link above. you live in the middle of spider country bro.
  16. Department of Environmental Protection. aka state trooper versions of park rangers. we got D.E.C. in NY (Department of Environmental Conservation), it's the same thing.
  17. East Fishkill/ Wappingers Falls, NY. about an 1-1.5 hours due North of NYC seeing this reminded my that I got a map site that will place little pins in a map to show where everyone is locate, if anyone wants, I can set one up. might be cool just to see the distribution of where everyone is.
  18. essentually what you did was find a cheaper version of the Shift-Pro. I'll be putting a Shft-pro and the Mooded star in my 06 as soon as the star comes(somethime this week hopefully)
  19. it not a matter of "if I crash" it's a matter of "When". told that to my Brother who is a killer rider( can ride anything) just before he dumped his dirtbike. went to take off, went about 5 feet and clipped a round rock about the size of a cantalope that was sticking up and over the bars he went at about 5 mph. too damn funny especially after he's had just drag raced acrossed the same field 12 times most of the passes in a wheelie. needless to say the crappy rider of the group(me) broke his gimpy chops the whole rest of the day. had to give up the Shee to him though cause he could twist he throttle w/ a sprained wrist.
  20. if you guys want to see what I mean check the one in either the XCBOB.com or the ATVaddiction.com links in my sig. the Addiction is better cuase I been putzing w/ it since last April.
  21. thats why we did it. got tired of answering 3 or 4 " My brakes don't work. what wrong with them??" or "My bike idles high, then goes Bwwaaahh when I hit the gas" type of ??'s a week. then we left an article in the Help section to refer to the FAQ section we created first then if it wasen't covered to ask out right. and after we'd get like 4 or 5 of the same thing we'd lock them and someone would post a new FAQ on it. cut down on the wasted space and and put all the most common problems in one place along with a solution to fix it. My all time favorite was the guy who had his timing so far retarded that the bike engine actually was running backwards(and like crap at that). after 6 new posts about it, 3 days later and a lot of head scratching. I asked him about his timing for the 14th time after we got him to stay in just 1 thread instead of jumping between all 6 of them.
  22. I know that too, but you'd be suprised how many times I've been asked about jetting and the person has no idea where the hell they are. which gets a groan and a roll of the eyes from me. and thats when i send them this and say, "here, look it up and get back to me."
  23. since most of the other boards I'm a regular(Mod and Admin) on have been pretty quiet. I'll be adding a few informational bits from them to here that might be of interest or useful. on the other boards that I've used, the Admins put in an "FAQ" section to place articles and stuff(tagged as "FAQ" for the bits on how-to's for repeate questions and "Tip" for the interesting bits like like how to measure exhaust noise) to reduce the number of questions related to common repeate problems(ie. brake bleeding, "reading" plugs, etc) and it's worked pretty good and I know how much you guys like to re-answer the same question 14x ("try using the search.") just thought it might help a bit. and if anyone feels they belong in a better spot than I placed them or should be pinned/sticky, or whatever go right ahead do what ya need to.
  24. since noise emissions is a major Hot Button for anti-ATV groups: Easy Decibel Check. appeared in the August 2000 issuse of ATV Action. http://www.4wheelatv.com/detail.asp?id=54
