What domes you guys running with the 421 cubs?
Lethaface replied to Lethaface's topic in Banshee Repairs and Mods
bansheeseat, It could be gasket thickness making the extra compression.. Thanks handyman! Thanks Dave, I guess i just better get it all together and keep a close eye on the compression during break in.. -
Not to step on any toes but thought i would throw this in and save you some head ache.. Krylon fusion is made for plastics.. The reason being is it has flexing agents in it that allow it to flex/bend without cracking/chipping the paint.. As of now I'm not aware of any primer or clear coat that has these same flexing properties..If your front and rear fenders are race cut then i wouldn't worry about spraying primer or clear but if you still have the big stock fenders use caution as when they get to flexing from the wind and jumps, either the primer or clear coat is gonna start cracking.. This is not my guide but the owner(yfs101) will not mind me posting it to use as a reference.. PAINTING PLASTIC Painting plastic is basically the same as any other surface however you need to use paints designed for plastics and that are flexable if being used on flexable plastics. A cheap paint that works great on bike and ATV plastic is Krylon Fusion Like any paint job, to have it turn out good take your time with the prep work and finishing. Just spraying over scratched up or shiny plastics will never give you good results and a shine like on my bikes and plastics you can't get out of a can. For plastics in good shape wet sand them starting with 600-800 grit and finishing with 1500. The plasitc will be extremely smooth but dull. for deep scratches and rough plastic you will need to start with a much lower sand paper and work you way up. No primer is used for plastic when using krylon fusion paints. The lay down several light coats of the color. I do not clear coat krylon fusion if it's being put on flexable plastic such as the dirtbike or ATV plastics Then you need to wet sand the finished paint after it had cured for a week or so then PROPERLY buff the $hit out of it just like you would a regular paint job. *** do not paint plastic fuel tanks *** you can paint plastic tank covers, or fairings but not right on the tank. the paint will blister and peel as the vapors from the fuel seap though the plastic.

I havn't even got a chance to check the squish yet..I am waiting on a ez change clutch cover so i don't even have any fluids in it as of yet.. -
Long story short, had a guy tell me yesterday that my 17cc domes may be to much compression for my new cub motor and that i may blow o-rings out on my cool head..Also was told that it may be to much for my 110 leaded race gas.. Anybody ever heard encountered anything like that?? Dome recommendations really seem to vary from one person to the next.. I have heard throw as much compression and timing at it as you can all the way to keep it in the 160lb range because the cub motors seem to perform better.. Anyways I'm gonna be running 110 leaded race gas, with a 4 degree timing advance at 2,000 feet elevation.. I have had two other sets of ported stock cylinders on 17cc domes that put out 170-185 lbs of compression.. I know the added stroke and volume of the cylinder is gonna make for more compression, I'm mainly just making sure i'm not going to ruin the first trip out over a $50 pair of domes thats so easily replaceable..So is anybody out there running 17cc domes on there 421?? Thanks, Letha

I was working last night and didn't get to see half time so i just watched it on youtube.. I will say reguardless of the homo vibe he carries, he can really play the guitar.. Gotta give him credit for actually singing in a stadium where as most lip sing even if you dont' like the tunes..

I agree sweetshee, the chilli peppers could have done a much better job and they actually had a hit within the past 2 decades lol..Several good songs in fact .. Speaking of prince, anybody ever seen the Dave Chappelle episode when charlie murphy plays basketball against prince(dave chappelle).. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=MYXUZ-jBPg4

This guy is making a good amount of money selling these things.. Anyways have a look at this..In his history he has sold alot of these things.. http://cgi.ebay.com/FASTEST-PINEWOOD-DERBY...1QQcmdZViewItem

If your in the sand i would say go for it but if you ride trails it won't last..You will always chip the lips of the wheels even with automotive paint..Trust me i've tried it..If you are in sand however you can tuck index cards between the tire and the lip of the rim and just tape the tops of the index cards and it makes it much easier to tape off.. As far as PC'ing it really not to terribly expensive..Mine are Being PC right now and it's really not that expensive..Gonna end up being $125 shipped when it's all done..

Hey thanks alot for the help dave..The pingel is gonna have to wait a few weeks till i can budget it a little better..I just wanted to get all my eggs in a basket so i wouldn't have any issues after its all together..I think now everything is pretty much covered!! Anyways thanks for the help fellas.. Jeremy

Yeah i agree..It's worth it, to do it right imo i just didn't wanna pay the $80 for something that really wasn't needed..I believe i will remove a float bowl and order the pingel just to be safe..Thanks fellas

Thanks guys.. I would run alky but honestly there is no place i know of to get it here..The nearest speed shop to me is probably 120 miles away..Just to put it in perspective for you guys, the fastest atv in this town that everybody always tell's me is going to beat me is a Honda 450R thats piped/cam'd..People are more into mud here i guess..When i took my cub and crank to the local shop i felt like i was delivering Fire to the first cave men lol..They were in ahhh to say the least. Dave, A good run honestly varries..I'm thinking the most would be a mile becuase some of the firelanes are pretty long/open..Of course all of that mile isn't with the throttle pinned or anything but there is alot of open spaces..So probably a honest guesstimation would be 1/4 mile pinned at the very most As far as the domes i am at 2,000 feet elevation, so if i'm not mistaken thats at about 185-190lbs of compression..Majic performance warned me about them so if i end up with to much compression then i'll go to a 18cc dome.. My last motor was a dune/drag port, stock stroke with 17cc domes and by the time i was done i ended up with 175lbs of compression..My mistake buying the 17cc domes this time for the cub is i didn't take into acount the bigger piston and longer stroke making more compression..I'm hopeing that with only the 4degree timing advance and running the 110 detonation won't be a issue.. So Dual Feed pingel should be sufficent??

Hey guys. had a few questions running into my mind while doing a search.. I have been doing a frame up build on my 99 banshee since about september.. I have been buying parts week to week and just slowly getting it all together..I have made sure to get all the common must haves like the longer swinger, Barnett clutch with toomey springs and even went as far as replacing all Bearings, seals orings, and even the Flywheel key and keyway.. So, my new 36mm TMX carbs came in last week and it's got me wondering if my stock petcock is going to give me enough fuel..In case it matters i'm running 110 octane with 17cc domes..My big concern is running the bowls dry on long straights.. My riding basically consists of fire lanes and i'm gonna try and hit the local 1/8th a couple times a month.. I've read a little bit about people using fuel pumps but wasn't exactly sure how that would work on the banshee..I've also read a few mixed reviews on the pingel..If a pingle is needed would it need to be used in conjunction with the fuel pump?? If there needed i don't mind at all delaying the completion by a paycheck or 2 i really just don't wanna blow it up on it's debut date lol..Any help is much appreciated

I am at 2,000 feet as well.. On my PJ's i ran a 155 main, 45 pilots and needle clip in middle position..That was on a stock stroke drag ported motor with CPI inframes..I was a little rich but i prefer it that way..
