I took a piece of angle and placed it between the air box hanger holder, then had it chromed. It is out of the way, but still can be used without removing the seat. I will get a pic if you want. -
And to think I sold my 87 LT500 with a built motor and dirt and sand tires for $2000.00. Man I wish I could have sold it someone for 5-7 grand. That would have paid for two banshees and alot of aftermarket parts. Only problem with the 500 is they get hot real fast, then ride around real slow while your buddies play. They just are not what everyone thinks they are. But for bottum end power they do come alive. Good luck Free Bump

If you are having the cylinders ported, just buy a set of weisco pistons in stock bore. you don't have to bore the cylinders, i didn't. For T-5 pipes you can buy them for $500.00 from Rockymountanatv.com with free shipping. Add the ricky stator timing plate at 4 degrees. Get a cool head with 18cc domes, it will put you around 155-160 psi. i personally run race gas. look on ebay for filters, I bought mine from steves perfomance in Dexter, OR. These look awesome and will fit the 30-34 carbs. i bought all my parts for the motor off of ebay, oh and also since you have it apart buy an aftermarket water pump. The plastic ones suck. Best of luck to you.

Hey Red, I got rid of the holes for the front motor mounts on the outside. Also get rid of the chain rollers . Then if you use steel braided front brake cables, remove all the old mounts. On mine I also got rid of the front bumper mounts, I like the clean look. Really makes a difference with all the mounts gone. Smooooth.

I run T-5 with 18cc cool head, +4 adv. timing, K&N filters( no airbox ) 1 1/2 turns out and 350 jets with stock pilots. I have checked the plugs and are a light chocolate brown. Runs very hard at hors falls. Just my .02 worth. Good luck

Maybe he could talk to Dr. Z with dodge and get some of the german technology for his banshee and kick everyones butt! -
If you are still going to buy new. Atleast get them to throw in some free shit. Start big and then negotiate down until you get what you want. Don't let them tell you "we can't do that" then tell them you will buy from another dealer who will. Just me .02 cents worth.

Ok so I tried searching for info and all it showed was about the yfz450 front shocks. What i want to know is if the calipers will bolt up to the banshee spindles and is there a noticeable difference or wasting my money. thanks

Just find someone to reweld the seams up and finish everything smooth. If there is no place for rust to start why would it. Also before we go to the coast to ride, we go to the local carwash and apply wax to the bikes. Sure helps keep the sand off and maybe save the chrome.

I know a guy in medford, Or who has successfully chromed his frame. He told me he spent countless hours re finishing and welding his frame. It has no seams and is flawless. Needless to say the bike is TITS and the fullbore plastic is chromed also. I will try to find a pic, I think I have one somewhere around here. One more word for his bike BADASS!! I found it isn't it BADASS. Puts my bike to shame. Oh well maybe someday I can spend that kind of money. What do you think CHASE?

I purchased a set of spindles off of flebay and they have a different bolt pattern for the calipers. So I ma not sure if I have maybe early spindles or not. The caliper holes for mounting are wider apart than the mounting holes on the spindles. Can someone tell me what spindles I may have. Are they early ones. The calipers mount onto my 2002 banshee spindles, so this is why i'm wondering. Thanks

Maybe, but I doubt I will be able to get my wifes bike done in time. If not she won't want to stand around, she likes to ride instead of watch. But who knows maybe we will have to go. Would be a nice get away.

Well I live in oregon and my parents are in the process of buying a home around the rover, AR area. My wife and I are flying back in sept. To check out there place and see if we want to move back there next year. My wife has asthma and want to see if she can breath with the humidity. So where are the dunes back there? Out here in oregon we have the coast to ride with hills. whats is like there and are the areas big or what. This will be our first tiime this far east, just don't know what to antisipate. Thanks

Sorry if I gave the wrong info, just trying to help!

I have heard since I purchased my bike with the tors removed. That the plug that goes to the tors needs to be spliced together. i know it won't let the bike idle. that is all I know. hopefully someone else will chim in and confirm this. Good Luck

Also i forgot to add that the 500cc or whatever it is going to be will be a twin cylinder with the efi. I think that might be the selling point for me. but I won't hold my breath to see if it really happens. Of course I may have to start saving my money for a new project -

Not that I want to start rumors or anything, but I have heard from a dealership in oregon that in 2008 yamaha is suppose to come back out with the banshee. however it will not be a two stroke anymore. Supposedly it will be a 4 stroke at @500cc give or take with EFI. Also it will be redesigned and have a better suspension like the 450 is. So for what its worth this is the rumor that I have been given. Who knows if it will come true. But like I said it was a rumor I was told. Don't get mad at me if it does happen or not. -
I have a 2002 banshee and am wondering what years the on/off switch will work with my harness. I have heard the 1987-1994 are the same. Then from 1995-2006 are the same. Is this true or are there other years that don't interchange? Thanks
