girl left me, should i keep the quad?
dajogejr replied to bansheejoel's topic in General Banshee Discussion
Whatever is in your name, keep it. Hide it if you have to. If the guns were in your name, make a police report now. The cops don't play games when it comes to firearms and who they are licensed to. If they were in her name....let it go... Keep all the shit you want, you'll kick yourself in the ass later if you don't. You will coulda, woulda, shoulda yourself to death. -
I think it's a cool invention...and with all those high priced vehicles being repo'd over here...we'll have 'em sooner or later. I'm from MI, and I'm not going to comment on the UAW. I'm for any worker getting paid what is fair...I'm not for an organization that overall promotes laziness and cheating of the system. I know that's a whole other debate...

Turbo EFI is the way to go on a banshee. Turbos on banshees make a shit ton of power. The problem is fuel. they are super, super finicky. 10 degree change in temps, humidity, etc....and you have to re-tune them. Dan Hull is probably the best at tuning Turbos for banshees. My buddy had one, it was just such a headache to get constantly tune, but...it's like hitting that one shot in golf. You could hit them into the woods all day, into the sand...but that one great shot is what makes it worth it. It's really hard to race something so inconsistent...and tempermental. I was at the track the weekend that picture was taken inside the trailer of Hull's turbo bike. It sounded like a pissed off bumble bee going down the track and it was moving...big time. But that guy...as said, has forgotten more than 99% of us will ever know about this stuff.

No...my buddy on his Honda Spree rode next to me and swears we were going over 100 when he clocked me... Just having some Friday Fun. The worst part is...people actually bought these from him on Ebay and clam they work. I guess a sucker is born every minute somewhere!!

Other than the price and you can buy it at the pump instead of a 5 or 55 gallon drum, I'd run Methanol over Ethanol. You still have to purge the bike. Cars/trucks designed to run on E85 have special fuel system that resist the corrosion...your 20 plus year old banshee motor does not... You will not get the same cooling and power increase of methanol by using E85. That being said... I'm thinking of putting my mini 50cc quad on E85... Just because if I F it up, I can buy a new cylinder, piston, head, bearings and gaskets for about 60 bucks. I can't even buy a piston for my banshee for that much... If you live in an area where Methanol is hard to come by or VERY expensive, then I say what the hey...go for it. Just make sure you use a castor based oil that is methanol compatible for the E85 and for your purge gas.

So...ummm...kanoodle...which of these are run off the exhaust? I hooked up two of these to my banshee...and I didn't have to run them off the exhaust... http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/Supercharger-Turbonator-Turbo-air-Intake-Fuel-Saver-Fan_W0QQcmdZViewItemQQ_trksidZp3286Q2ec0Q2em14QQhashZitem27abb8afdcQQitemZ170384732124QQptZMotorsQ5fCarQ5fTruckQ5fPartsQ5fAccessories It went from 35 HP stock to well over 100 MPH. it does 121 MPH with stock tires and stock gearing too...and it'll do 133 when I feed these turbonators into the boost bottle!!! Nice write ups Kanoodle...very nice info indeed.

That shit is funny as all hell....

You'll be happier with CPIs. They're not going anywhere, they don't have a "bad past" like Rockets, they perform just as good...and their customer service it 2nd to none. Buddy of mine cartwheeled his bike in the dunes and smashed the shit out of his pipe. I think they charged him about 40 or 50 bucks including shipping back to fix it good as new...and he got it back QUICK!!! I've tried Rockets...one of the old owners lives in MI about 20 minutes from me. I thought they were garbage then and since they haven't changed, I still feel that way. My opinion based on my use of them... I will say they were...or possibly still are, made of some thick ass metal. If you don't mind the weight...they are constructed pretty solid. That's about the only good thing I can say about them.

Was this Kurt (stroker1)'s old banshee by any chance?

Damn that bike is clean for being 16 years old...what a handful all that power is... Good luck...Bumpski.

Good luck... IMO your best bet is to sell those on ebay and look for a stator and flywheel at the same place. A used tranny that is NOT cut for an override fetches 85 to 140 bucks on ebay, but that normally includes the drum as well. You're going to pay every bit of that and maybe more for a stator and flywheel that aren't rusted to shit or beat up. I deal with a lot of the OEM Electrics and especially the transmissions since we cut overrides, the only reason I'm piping up in here. Good luck to ya!!

Stripped bolt putting reed spacers on...
dajogejr replied to RippinShee's topic in Banshee Repairs and Mods
First tap the hole clean and use a longer bolt to see if you need a helicoil. Second, yes...use a dab of blue loc tite. After seeing how easy intake bolts can work free, cause an air leak, etc., I use it every time now. -
As much as I'd like to say the motor will be for sale after this year to go bigger, I just don't see it happening. It's paid for, reliable and fun...so...I'll have to keep an eye on these for a while... The leak down test kit I bought last year has not only saved my motor this year, but saved a buddies when he had a ton of epoxy leaks in his cases... They are truly an invaluable tool!

Both. Use the gaskets, use the RTV and give it 24 hours to cure. Normally, you can bolt it right up and run it. Since you're having issues....sealing issues, give the RTV time to cure.

New Coil and still no SPARK! What next?
dajogejr replied to I_Ride's topic in Banshee Repairs and Mods
Maybe I read that wrong, but why would you have to remove the flywheel to check for the air gap? You MUST leave it on and check both nubs....am I missing something? Here's the best electrical advice any seasoned banshee owner can give you. Stay away from ANYTHING Ricky Stator. Period. Junk. Back in the day, his products were great. Now they're just Chinese made garbage. I would be checking all wires and making sure I had a good chassis ground as well. Hotwire the kill switch (remove it) just to check for the hell of it. I've seen bad kill switches do real, real shitty things. Buy OEM electrical for a banshee. Even if it's used on ebay, it's still better than R Stator garbage! -
Interesting read guys...I just put UPP on my bike after battling a leak on my boss intakes. And I leak tested mine after, less than a lb or two after 6 minutes...been riding it all year since. I'm going to Chariot intakes next. he's local...and makes nice stuff!

RIGHT....your first question was "is the exhaust what's running the turbo" and now you're a John Deere Tractor Pro and you work on your buddies cars with turbos.
Do they have turbos that go against what every other turbo on the planet go by (uh...the exhaust) or did you just happen to forget.

You have experience riding a turbo'd 10 mil, but you still have to ask these questions. You should already know how it works...pro builder.

Sorry...100% BS...
Just in case I'm not being clear:

If you can take pictures, we can better explain or help you...

Do you know who ported your cylinders? If so....run what they recommend. if you're beating 4 mil cubs with a 7 mil stock cylinder on T5s, your engine porter did something right!
-
Nah....too much going on. I'm going to T&T in Port Huron the following Saturday, then the Hopper Shootout in Ionia. I have nothing new to try on my bike...it's going to do the same thing pass after pass.. I do have a pit bike I need to get an ET on....LOL.

Last year it was $240 for 4 hours, 60 per hour. WE ALWAYS tip them generously. Usually at least a hundo on top of it. If you get to make 20 to 30 passes for 20 to 25 a man, that's well worth it IMO...always has been.

I doubt you can find just a bowl for one used. However, you can find a used set for 50 bucks. If you were to buy a new bowl for one I bet it'd be over half that. Good luck!!
-
Without a doubt, the 4 strokes are getting fast....and running very impressive.
-
Yep... Stock bore, stock stroke, triple exhaust port on race fuel... They can do 100 to 108 on methanol, they can do 85 on race gas. Dan Hull and Rob Earl (A&S and RDZ respectively) work wonders with stock cylinders.

In the right hands of the top builders and in good tune...85ish if not a little more.
